Thanks for Scotts cheap flights, where I heard this deal from.

From August 2017 up until March 2018, a lot of available dates. Dec 2017 is for sure blacked out.

My first post, so be nice.

  • Melborune, that's a new one.

  • Not sure that is how Melbourne is spelt….but I like it!

    • Haha. That's wrong spelling, thanks for pointing it out. But it does look prettier that way, does it?

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Is it possible to combine posts? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313323
Because its essentially the same deal, except this one is booking with Online Travel Agents, whilst my one was linked direct to Qantas?

    • Yours is Sydney, this is other cities. Similar but different.

      • FYI, all flights for the SCF deal are ex/via Sydney.

      • Ah no worries, updated.

        • Have unupdated. Don't need 2 identical posts.

        • @neil: This gets annoying when someone replies to your question and you receive a notification, but you can never see the answer because mods delete the post. This happened to me with a recent Anz Qff black post.I click the notification and it just says duplicate deleted.

Can you remove the duplicate post from the deals page, but keep a link to it in the original post somehow?

Or maybe merge in the comments?

Lastly, The other post was better with more detail which is now gone (but it can still be accessed thankfully due to someone posting above). So if this was done with other duplicates it would be great.

        • @tunzafun001:

What post are you talking about? All deals removed for duplicates should be linked to the original.

        • @neil:This is my notification that doesn't lead to the response.

@tunzafun001: Not sure if you can access revisions, but i'll salvage the extra info I dug up for the community :) touched it up a bit too.

          Product:
Qantas A330 (great for pairs in the 2-4-2 seating arrangement) scheduled Sydney outbound departures at 9:50AM arriving at 4:40PM.
Emirates A380 (larger plane, subjectively quieter) scheduled outbound Sydney departures at 6:30PM arriving at 12:55AM the next day.
          Both have overnight inbound flights.
In my opinion, best option would be taking the Qantas to Bangkok, then the Emirates on the return.

          Pricing:
Sydney is direct, whilst Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide and connected through Sydney, albeit at the same price.
Likely cheaper if you book from an online travel agent as mentioned above.
OTA's have a mixed bag of opinions, but I have tried https://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/price-promise/global/… once and it worked out fine for me.

          Points Analysis:
2,600 Qantas Points and 30 Status Credits each way for Sydney departures.
2,600 Qantas Points and 30 Status Credits each way.
5,200 Qantas Points and 60 Status Credits for the return from Sydney.
+1,600 Qantas Points and +20 Status Credits roundtrip if departing from MEL/BNE/ADL, due to the domestic connection to Sydney.
          Calculated under: https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/do/dyns/initialPointsEarned
+1,000 Qantas Points if you take the punt on Qantas' Price Promise.

        • @ozAzn:

Sorry didn't see your added that to your post. Have added that back in.

        • @tunzafun001:

When deals have numerous comments, then comments are merged. That one had only 6 which were covered in the original. Best to continue discussion in site discussion instead of this thread.

        • @neil: it links to the original, but someone responded to my question in the duplicate post. How do I access that?
