  • Thanks OP, got one

    • Can you let me know if samsung pay works once you get it?

      • It won't work, as I bought S7 edge 128gb dual sim from HK and it doesn't accept Australian Cards for Samsumg pay, looks like, it is region locked

        • Have you tried sideloading it?

        • @lostn: Samsumg Pay was already in the phone, so I'm not sure if side loading will remove existing app which is already in the phone.

  • It appears that this is the Bluetooth-only variant. And here I thought the main difference between the Frontier and Classic models is the availability of LTE in the former.

    • It doesn't support wifi?

      • Not this particular model.

  • back to $299 now

I was just about to buy one.. bummer!

  • I wouldn't buy this because samsung pay will not work unless it's Australian model. Which is the most imp

    • could you link to somewhere with more info on this please? I can't find anywhere mentioning that and am looking to buy one of these. Does this mean the version selling via DWI/eGlobal is also gimped?

I bought one from perfect mission on eBay and it did come with the Samsung Pay even though they say it does not work on the advertising page.
I was expecting it not to work. I don't use it anyway so was ok to get it at $350 when the 15% off was on.

        • @Bruno28: have you tried registering a card with it ?

        • @OzSikhs: no I haven't. But some people say they don't even have the Samsung pay on the international versions of Gear S3. When they press and hold the top button it doesn't launch. Mine launches the app and says I have to register a card. But I don't think this is a safe thing to use.
DO you think it won't allow me to register a card?

        • @Bruno28:

DO you think it won't allow me to register a card?

That's correct, Samsumg devices are region locked for Samsumg Pay. I bought S7 edge 128gb from HK recently, Samsumg Pay app is there in the phone, It does open, but when I tried to register my Australian card, it won't accept and gave me an error.

The solution I have found so far is that I need to flash the Australian Firmware in it to be able to use Samsumg Pay.

          Hope it helps.

        • @OzSikhs:
          ohh ok I didn't know.
But my phone is Australian and this means I should be able to register cards on it. Isn't Samsung pay working with the phone and not the Gear s3?
Isn't the Gear S3 just an antenna to broadcast the information that is from the phone to the card machine?

Update 1…. They work independently. I thought the watch was just an antenna. I will have to try it out and see if it works to know for sure.

Update 2… my bank isn't on the list of cards that work with Samsung pay. Otherwise it was all working to register. But cant say it works yet.

Yep, bought one for dwi and was unable to use samsung pay on it. Reason is simple unlike android pay samsung pay will be checking build no when you open the app. Which will then block you from using. Guess this is same with samsung handsets that you purchase from grey market. I'm sure grey market handsets can't use samsung pay in australia. Happy to get proved I'm wrong.
