Not a good idea with the new electricity price hikes

    • only if it's made with gas …..

  • a great deal, just about to buy a decent heater to survive winter.

  • I think the Dyson Pure Hot Cool Link presents better value before when priced at $499 with free extra filter. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/300255

    • I agree that is a good deal. But! it finished. Don't forget that model need to replace the filter in term and it will cost $99 per filter. Further, if the filter need to replace but the user do not want to spend the money and refuse to do that, who can guarantee the fan will working normal without replace the filter.

Also, that model it is bigger and more heavy than am09.

True and agree with your points, but handy to remember and consider the following:

        • Prices of devices should drop in the long term so if the Pure Hot-Cool series were priced at $499 it may return in the near future or be the "new" RRP (just like how the V8 Absolute dropped in retail price recently from when it was launched).
        • Filter is good for 8000 hours which is a very descent amount of time, increased to 16000 hours if you can take advantage of the free replacement filter (which also may come around again, you never know).
        • I'm not sure of weight is much of an issue unless you are planning to move the device around often, in which case this is a valid point (remember it swings pretty wide angle)
        • The Pure model also has Wi-Fi control (hence the "Link" in the name); trust me the remote is never within reach when you want to operate the unit, but funnily enough our phones are always within reach. Also remember that with the Wi-Fi control it also comes with feedback historical statistics of temperature, humidity and air quality as a bonus which is quite useful.
  • Not a fan on this particular product even though I love my Dyson absolute

    • Care to say why?

      • It's a fan with a heater function at an expensive cost. They use the word "cool" in the title which would be misleading for some people who think they'll be able to cool a room down on a 30+ degree day

        • Its widely accepted to say fans are used for their cooling effect. They also advertise a filter, cant vouch for its efficacy as I dont have one. However, your judgement of the product seems to be coloured by your bias against it.

It is a pretty looking fan with a filter and a heater built in, and costs a pretty penny too. Thats about it.

My biased judgement against people who have purchased it

          http://www.productreview.com.au/p/dyson-am09-hot-cool.html

Fair to say is almost on par

Warm is good but is expensive to run.

Cool is cheap to run, but is outperformed by a $10 pedestal fan.

    I don't think it's worth $400+.

  • I stupidly bought the previous model (AM05) and although I like their cordless vacs, this is a completely overpriced con job. It's loud, doesn't work any better than a $40 fan heater.

    DO NOOT BUY IT

I knew the reviews for it was bad and bought one anyway just for the novelty. Next time I will listen to the reviews.

I totally agree. Such an overpriced fan. I bought Am09 and extremely disappointed with. I went to TGG to returb it and they asked me to contact Dyson. Dyson asked me to post it back to them to check. After checking they said the motor was faulty and sent a brand new replacement. Second time disappointed to find that the replacement is no better either.

So after 2 months of mucking around, I am using a fan which doesn't blow air more than any cheap fan. OVERPRICED.

      • Such an overpriced fan.

Shh. Don't call it a 'fan'. James Dyson hates when people use such an unsophisticated term to describe their products. It's an Air Multiplier. If you have to be as uncouth as to calling it a fan, at least call it a Bladeless fan.

I am using a fan which doesn't blow air more than any cheap fan. OVERPRICED.

Dyson are the Apple of electrical appliances. Their products are sell on marketing alone. And the marketing is often done by the owners of the products themselves.

    • I got the AM05 too and yeah it's a loud sucker.
Apparently the AM09 is meant to be much quieter though (I wouldn't know though)

Then again, I've learnt that if you want room heating in silence say for the bedroom, you can't go past an oil radiant one.

  • Thank you Terrence, we have been looking for this deal for some time, and it turned out to be even better than we'd expected. Cheers!

  • A cheap ~$50 fan can be had with height-adjustment and remote control that blows far, far, far more air than any Dyson bladeless fan without adjustable height. But shock horror, you'll be using an 'old fashioned' bladed fan with a grille! (gasp) These Dysons are overpriced, under-performing and overmarketed to the extreme.

For heating, you can buy several very nice heaters that perform far better for similar wattage, and yet still have hundreds left over to spend on what you want. But again (shock horror) you may be using an old-fashioned fan with blades and a grille! (gasp x2)

All form & very little function seems to be the go in a certain niche, so they'll get what they deserve.

    • Don't you know blades are unsafe? A baby can stick its finger between that grille you know.

I'm not sure if there are any portable heaters that are cheap to run and that actually do any heating. They're usually 1500-2000w.

      • My sister gave away her Dyson. I tried it, it's pathetic. I still have it here somewhere…without remote (she lost it). A few moments with it is all it took for me. I am surprised people pay good money for these things. They are pathetic. All 'looks'…that's it. Right down to the silver-painted plastic (pointless posturing). It draws plenty of power heating at maximum…no magical heating elements here.

It's loud as heck on maximum speed. Maximum still has bad airflow compared to any far cheaper China bladed fan / heated or not…plus you can enjoy the racket. Whoopee, it has a digital display (distracting) and has a 'sleek' design. They can keep it. Boggles the mind why she didn't return it early…

  • There's a scheme in a Tasmania to subsidise energy saving things like solar panels, heat pump hot water systems and somehow this rubbish Dyson fan/heater! There is nothing energy efficient about it.
