  • This or a Nokia 3310… tough choice

    • Nokia 3310 FTW

      • +2

3310 only works on 2G. Which is dead/zombied in Australia

  • +1

    Does this have Snake?

  • This thing is beyond a POS well into comedy territory
So you are paying us $19.99 to take them, is that how it works?

    • -2

Compared to what? A thousand dollar smartphone?

  • +1

looks like it's 2G only?? which means you'd be stuck with Vodafone.

    • +1

And not for much longer at that.

      • +2

you'd still have to pry my nokia 8250 from my cold, dead hands ;)

        • +2

don't touch me you dirty UNPROFESSIONALS!!!

  • as 2g is being phased off later this year, is this dual 3g?

  • +1

    https://www.laserco.com.au/MOB-FP2G-feature-phone-dual-sim-u…

Discontinued. Looks like the Rep picked up tons of them too judging by the bulk discounts (anyone want 20?)

  • +3

Looks like they were as recent as 10th April selling for $18.99, so it's actually gone up in price.

  • Don't think I ever saw these in supermarkets or Officeworks. They must have too many dumbphones sitting around in inventory and nobody wanted the Laser branded ones.

Interesting it has Whatsapp, I assume it must do 3G to be able to access the internet, otherwise there isn't any way Whatsapp can communicate.

    • bluetooth?

    • +1

Probably uses GPRS. The owner's manual says 'GPRS counter' and 'GPRS settings', so almost certainly a 2G only phone.

      • I might add that in the deal description.

    • Aldi had these some time last year, can't remember how much they were though

  • Have WhatsApp as well.

Nothing like Facebook-owned integrated spyware to make me hit the Buy button.

  • A 2G only phone that will be worthless in a matter of months. Don't bother with this!

  • -5

It works with all network other than telstra.

    • +4

      ..give you 50c
      EDIT
      only 20c now (no Optus)

    • +6

Optus shut off its 2g network in April this year. (https://media.optus.com.au/media-releases/2015/optus-to-ceas…)

enough with the misleading info please.

      • +1

Although to be accurate, not in all areas yet, 2G is still active in some states. But not much longer, 31/7 is the end in all Australia IIRC. I know because I have a dual SIM phone that will become single SIM come August.

  • Would appreciation recommendations on a phone for elderly which doesn't cost more than $100. She only wants it as a phone and absolutely nothing else. Does not want smart phone. Have bought the Nokia for $20 but the phone is way too small, she can't even read what she is dialing and have trouble dialing the numbers due to keys too small.

  • +3

waste of money buying this. candy bar phones are regularly on sale for less than this in supermarkets. eg. $3.80 3G candy bar at woolworths

  • +1

I've bought Samsung "dumb phones" for cheaper - Just $9 from one of the Woolies/BigW sales. Even 3G capable too.

  • +3

2G only, so I can have two useless SIMs in it at once.

  • If only it included a LASER

    • +1

Well the description seemed to suggest a laser was used to unlock it. :)
