    Targeted? Annual fee?

    • Annual Fee:

      $89

    • Dang! I am not sure if it's targeted or not. The code looks generic but the URL looks pointing to a campaign. Can anyone confirm?

  • +4

I can confirm, this is not targeted

    • How can you confirm it is not targeted?

      • +1

try it yourself and you can answer that question for me, save me some time :)

        • +1

Hahaha I could but I don't want to get stung with a cc that doesn't come with the 3 months gold. How do you know you got three months gold?

  • Link URL does not appear to mention the 3 month Velocity Gold trial (unless I missed it in the fine print).

  • Essentially you can get 15 months gold status out of this.

    • How does that work?

      • +2

3 months for gold. Then earn another 80 SC to retain it for a whole year. Not sure if it includes the 3 months or not. It's in the T&C.

        • Cheers.

          How do status credits work?

    • +4

      As an example…

Get this, then from next month, fly from BNE to MEL in Business ($499) and return in Economy ($133) will earn you 80 status credits.
      All up, $89 + $499 + $133 = $721 for 15 months of Velocity Gold.

Can anyone else do it cheaper?

      • Oh, does anyone know if I booked the Singapore Airline deal to China ($480 return), can I change it from my Krisflyer to my Velocity number? Cos I think that works out to be 100 points

        • +1

Yes you can. Let them know at the counter to put your velocity number into the booking.

        • May also need one eligible sector which is a flight on a VA flight number.

        • @8azinga:

Good point, yes it needs to be a VA flight.

        • @8azinga:

I think in the example you've given if a flight starts with VA but it codeshare with Singapore let's say. Then does that count as an eligible sector?

        • @nightelves: It certainly does.

        • Anyone knows if Singapore Airlines "k" class eligible for Velocity Status Credits?
          Thanks

        • Thank you so much.Singapore Airlines keeps telling me that "k" class is only eligible for Krisflyer miles . Missing 30 Velocity Status Credits from recent SQ flight.

  • Got one in my email inbox too.

Just a queryt on the financial worth of this. I assume from past research 10,000 fly buys points is equivalent to a $50 coles voucher - is that correct?

The spent $1 get 2 points thing for this card, is that flybuys points? So am I correct in saying spending $1,000 would only get your 2,000 points? So you would need to spend $5,000 ANYWHERE on this card to get 10,000 flybuys points, which is equivalent to $50 colest voucher??

In comparison my AMEX gets $7 worth of credit redemption or gift cards per $1,000 spend. So $5,000 spend would only get me $35 back? So the coles is better and can be used wherever amex isnt?

Am I missing anyhting as far as counting the monetary value of this? Have been lookin for a masterard or visa that gives reward points i can switch for money off the statement (credit points) or gift cards to major stores. Mainly to supplement where places dont accept amex.Had prev tried internally at bankwest and failed to get the more mastercard due to servicing, so looking for other options for rewards points (where hopefully more lenient credit checks - as I had gotten a CBA one not long before that oddly enough).

    • Here are the benefits to this card:
      Gold Status with Virgin Australia
      No foreign transaction fee
Price Protection for upto 24 months! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101721
Hopefully someone can verify this but you're actually get 3 flybuys per $1 spend. 2 from the credit card and 1 from Coles.

The gold status from Virgin is already worth it just for the additional luggage and lounge pass YMMV.

  • On paper this looks brilliant.

I have a number of flights booked for NZ at the end of the year for a wedding and 30th bday.

I am assuming I can keep my same frequent flyer number?

    • Yeap you'll then be upgraded to gold status and can enjoy lounge access at any Virgin or partner lounge.

      • Brilliant. Considering the next 4 flights are in bus class, I might even be able to achieve gold for the year

        • Since there's really not much difference between Gold and Platinum. I would just get the minimum SC to retain gold for one year then family pool everything to someone in your family so they have a chance to earn gold status also.

        • @nightelves:

Good idea. Will aim to "retain" gold for 12 months first and then pass on points elsewhere

        • @popcornready:

I think my Virgin FF expiry is August. As in, when status credits expire.

Will this impact on the 3 month trial or getting another 12 month through SC if it expires during the 3 month trial

        • You'll basically be Gold for those flights anyway being business class, and will probably earn enough status credits on four business class return flights to NZ to make gold even without this offer.

  • Does anyone with the card know how long it takes them to approve the application?
Also wondering by when would I have to apply by to take advantage of this offer.

  • So I applied, entered the promo code (which was accepted).

    Entered my flybuys number.

    Finalised application. Got approved.

Now linked my flybuys with my existing velocity member number.

Throughout the entire process, no mention of gold status or bonus points. Eek

    • +1

20,000 points will be credited 2 weeks after first spend and Gold membership will be enrolled within 4 weeks of receiving 20,000 points. Pays to read the T&Cs

      • Can you link me to the t&c's?

        • OP has the link below his username. I think this is targeted.

    • Did the points and gold status come through in the end?

      How long did this take?

  • Shame this is definitely targeted. I called Coles Mastercard. Any ideas of ways around this to get 3 months of Gold? I have 2 RTW Virgin flights in the next 3 months….

    • What did they say?

The code provided in the OP worked for me

      • They said it will get you the 20000 points but not the 3 months Gold. Did you get any correspondence to say anything different? If so I will sign up also

        • What a downer if coles confirmed this is targeted. Update: Self reported as targeted :(

        • @smarter_fool: There is a lot of content on the web surrounding this, it seems as you have to wait your turn to get the email. Can you think of anything in particular you did to receive the email?

        • I think it could be that I linked my velocity with my flybuys?

        • @smarter_fool: Got the email not long ago and I don't have it linked.

        • @8azinga: Arghhhh how is everyone getting it. I am desperate for Gold at the moment. Any ideas welcome :)

        • @beardedpeptides:

Where are you flying to? It might be best to get the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black as it has Veloce lounge access.

        • @nightelves: Melbourne Beijing Melbourne & MEL LAX LHR HKG MEL

  • What does promo 3 or 2 or 1 give?

edit: promo codes 1 to 10 seem to all be valid promo codes….

  • I received this promo on Monday afternoon, applied the same night and had the credit card in the letter box on Friday! Very speedy.

I am flying in late July on a Virgin RTW flight so super keen to get the Gold upgrade. Hopefully this is just as speedy coming through!

Anyone had any experience with how long it takes to get the Gold membership? Also, say it happens to come through after I leave on my trip, is it possible to just show your electronic velocity membership details/member number to gain the lounge access or do you need a physical gold card?

  • Would this work with flights already booked before you had the gold status? Anyone still receiving these?
