  • Cheap … but those layovers or multi flight legs though.. ouch!

  • Try not to go with Etihad that's one hell of a trip.

  • Good price. Bad layover. Not so great weather-wise.

  • Will flight centre price match aunt Betty web site ?

Looking at booking tomorrow after leave approved for 3 weeks

Etihad to NYC is a long trip but bearable. On the flight back from Abu Dhabi the a380 we were on was about 1/3 full which made for quite a pleasant flight!

I'm a bit dubious about etihad though. They are full service with a touch of low cost carrier… in NYC returning to au, there was one attendant pacing the line to board checking carry on weights. He pulled people out of line and picked up their bag to check weights. Anyone over the 7kg was hauled off to pay for additional luggage!

One guy at checkin was 2kg over but had already put his checked baggage through. He was charged over $300usd additional!

We didn't get the same on the outbound trip but we had less than half our checkin weight and only a small empty backpack with us outgoing. We were spot on our total allowance going out and didn't get hassled but i felt that if we were a few hundred grams over the games would begin (us wearing extra jackets :) )

    • Don't know what the factor of safety on these cabin storage locks are but I've been in situations (three times) where I had to get up from my seat right before landing and close the overhead compartment around me. They always seem to open as the plane hits some turbulence/wind shear on approach.
I just think that people forget that those tiny locks are not really capable of handling that much load.

  • What about Europe?

  • Booked this but just a hint on auntybetty most cards have a fee but not master card So price beat at flight centre and saved an extra $2 with no card fee.also going direct to the site with out using the link for a price match is $5 pp saving

Now what to do in New York for 3 weeks in October / November
