  • Maple gold S8 $747.95 at shopping square outlet eBay.

  • What's the catch other than being a grey import? Looks good!

    • Might wanna check the 700Mhz spectrum, may not be B28

    • +1

These are the Exynos 8895 Octa (vs the Snapdragon 835). No idea which is the norm in Australia.
The Exynos performs a little better, but it is all extremely close anyway.

Dual SIM is a nice bonus

  • Can anyone recommend DWI-Digital Cameras as a reputable seller? Also - as the price is under $1000, would that mean there would be no duties, taxes or charges to pay? (Sorry, I'm new to the grey imports scene).

    • From my experience I think they are good seller.

    • +2

I think they are a reasonable seller, but take note that in case of a fault they require you to ship to Hong Kong (at your expense) and will take additional 4+ weeks to perform a repair or assessment. Some other providers have an Australian address and warranty service for returns which makes it easier. So perhaps keep an old phone as spare just in case.

      • Will Samsung in Australia touch HK stock?

        • no

        • @wxyz234: Maybe harvey norman, jb hifi and other local shop mafia are paying samsung to avoid grey product so people can goto Their stores to buy products on their terms. For example in grey market s8 came down from 1100 to 745 but jb hifi etc are still selling it on the same price.

    • DWI if you read their website FAQs reserve the right to open the phone boxes.

      • which means instant used phone as far as I am concerned - you should not accept that as new

        • can ozbargain have a field with grey import products or a wiki where the seller s stance is with regards to opened boxes?

    • I've bought a camera from DWI before with no problem. If your total cost is under $1000, you won't pay any import fees.

  • Are these using 2g only for one of the dual Sims?

  • Does anyone know how the differ in terms of reception compared to Telstra Blue Tick version?

  • Are there any bands in the telcos that's not covered by this dual sim version? or the S8+?

  • Such a tempting price with a 300ish saving off Australian stock

  • Is the dual sim 2g + 4g? or 3g + 4g?

    • same question

      • For those that didn't bother to read my answer above…
        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2625679#r53375946
        Suggests 4g/3g for both SIMs.

        • Hmm. That's not so bad. Not as good as dual 4G which you get from Xiaomis, but still useful. Wait.. does the 2nd SIM card eat up the SD card slot? If so, I'll take that back.

If I knew it would be this cheap this soon, I wouldn't have preordered the AU version.

          Does this support B28?

  • It says "AU warranty". What does that mean?

    • Could be a misleading statement, if you read it that Samsung Australia support it with warranty… I think it's a throw away comment to try and encourage Aussie buyers to feel safe.
