  • Thanks onebee! :)

    • Mine has arrived, what a waste of $$. Terrible display…

  • +2

Had this, display is a problem in this model - Garmin replaced it twice same issue. Finally they replaced it with the Vivosmart 3

    • Same here - display failed before 12 months in pair we owned

    • Same here - bought for ~$100 in Dick Smith closing down sale - when I sent back for 2nd time due to display problems they replaced it with the HR (heart rate model) which has a much bigger and more reliable display.

My mate had his replaced with HR also.

    • same here - replaced twice due to display problems with the same model, by the 3rd time they replaced it with the new HR model (which also is starting with problems)

    • I replaced mine once within the warranty period, but it happened again a few months later. Can I still get a replacement after the warranty?

      • You get another 12 months warranty with the replacement. If it is within 12 months of you registering the replacement, you should still get support.

No you don't, no company is going to offer a full warranty on a replacement product. At best if you had something replaced 11 months into a twelve month warranty you would get three months warranty with of course some rare exceptions.

No you don't, no company is going to offer a full warranty on a replacement product.

I did, and here is some proof.

My original vivosmart was registered 25/12/15, ran into issues and was replaced on 20/4/16, ~4 months into the original 12 months warranty.

The replacement was faulty and the free upgrade to the vivosmart HR was registered on 31/1/17, ~9 months into the warranty for the replacement device.

Just because you can add something to your account means nothing. You could purchase something and leave it on the shelf for eleven months and start using it and it will have an added date eleven months into a twelve month warranty.

And here it is from the horse's mouth.

"Repairs have a 90 day warranty. If the unit sent in is still under its original warranty, then the new warranty is 90 days or to the end of the original one year warranty, depending upon which is longer."

Sigh…I was simply responding to your "no company is going to offer a full warranty on a replacement product" claim.

The product registration dates were the dates I received my replacements, and there was a turnaround of ~1 week for me to send in the product for testing before they approved the replacement/upgrade.

I'm just saying that my first replacement vivosmart was used for 9 months (from the date of registration) before it had more issues which was replaced without problems by Garmin.

For me, I had a product which had issues after 9 months of ownership, and Garmin replaced it. Simple as that. If Garmin offered me more than what they normally state, then lucky me. I am just sharing my experiences here and suggesting that teeshiu should contact Garmin and see what happens.

"Repairs have a 90 day warranty.

Mine was a replacement in both cases as Garmin told me on the phone that they don't repair vivosmarts. Maybe that was the difference, maybe not.

And they didn't offer a full warranty with the replacement. What part of this is hard for you to understand. They replaced the first one at 4 months and they replaced it again at under 13 months. This is normal practice for most companies especially with the ACL and considering turnaround times for replacement. You didn't get a new 12 month warranty with each replacement.

A repair or replacement is the same thing, the same warranty still applies.

          Okay, I didn't. Happy?

I got good service and was just sharing the experience. I know I'm happy.

    • Who'd you contact in order to initiate the replacement and get a Vivosmart 3?

  • This is a functionally fantastic unit that's plagued by dead pixels on its OLED screen. It will happen guaranteed on every single unit, and I expect these might have some dead pixels out of the box considering they've probably sat on shelves for a few years now.

I'm using my third after my two previous ones' screens failed.

    • +1

Well, we have two of these for several years now. No dead pixels and still running well. Love the long battery life

    • I bought from telstra during the last sale and had the dead pixel problem straight out of the box. A third of the screen was dead.

      • Did you contact Garmin? What was the result?

        • Haven't yet, only recieved it this week, had to msg telstra via eBay for the receipt. Will need to check with Garmin whether I return it to them or to telstra.

    • I too had dead pixel problem straight out of the box.
I contacted garmin and they advised they could only offer a replacement with the berry coloured one (i had ordered black)

Contacted Telstra via ebay message who issued a refund as they advised they had no additional stock for a replacement.

  • Also had issues with this model. Replaced twice with dead pixels and then Garmin offered me the Vivosmart HR for free.

  • I have gone through at least 6 of them! Same problem all the time: it will eventually get dead pixels on the screen. But so far it has been my #1 choice fitness band. Its perfect size, comfortable to wear and discreet. You will need a separate heart monitor strap to monitor your hearbeat, which I wear only when I play sports.

  • Yep my gf went through 3 of them within 2 years. Garmin were good with the replacement but it's a pain int the butt having to do it.

  • Ordered one yesterday, arrived today.

As expected the screen is severely messed up. I would say roughly 2/3 of the screen doesn't work as it should, with 1/3 of being completely dead and the other 1/3 so badly faded it's barely readable. It'll still get used, but it's not exactly acceptable quality.

Going to reach out to Garmin directly and insist they solve my issue. Garmin should have recalled all stock after 6 months knowing that there was a fault with their devices.

    • Mine arrived on 23/6 with the same screen issue out of the box. Rang Garmin on 26/6 and they said they could begin a process to try to replace with a refurbished model, or I could contact the seller for a refund.

Ended up asking for a refund through eBay and was granted it within a couple of hours. And I didn't have to return the product.
