T-series Thinkpads are work-purpose machines, made for people who regularly carry a laptop everywhere and need something sturdy. You can drop them from waist height and they'll survive (most of the time).

The Inspiron 15 7000 is a gaming machine, so it's heavy and designed to sit on a desk. And well, it plays games. The T-series won't play anything much apart from Minecraft or LoL.

The T-series competitor is the Dell Latitude 7000 series, although from personal experience T series are usually heavier and more reinforced.
