But is one cartridge expensive as shit?

    • No, ususal retail price. I bought an epson value pack for my photo printer 6 inks $100.00 got one 6 pack free. 12 inks for $100, thats aboutbv$8.50 ea cheaper than generics and more reliable

With so many good quality and inexpensive non-OEM ink and cartridges available these days, I'm surprised that there are still lots of people willing to pay exorbitant prices for OEM cartridges. Nevertheless, buy-2-get-1-free is a good offer, I suppose.

    • Precisely EarlyBird

    • +10

I've yet to find any good quality non-OEM ink and cartridges as all of the ones I have used do not produce the same quality print and would tend to dry up faster and are more prone to clog up the printer head. I've experienced problems with non-OEM toners as well.

    • Every time i have used generic cartriges the ink always dries in the print head and i need to steam it over the kettle.
I have never had this happen since changing back to genuine ink.

I bought the HP02 (rainbow) value pack and that retailed for $83.95 - so with this promotion I got two value packs for $83.95. Officeworks have the same pack for $79 each, and probably a few online places have it for slightly cheaper….I dont think you would normally be able to get these value packs for $42, so definitely happy with my purchase.

The HP02 pack I bought came with 6 ink cartridges.

I have 4 printers at home and work that use the HP 02 Ink system.

The best thing I have EVER done (well, to do with printing) is install a CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System). This is a large tank of ink for each colour, and tubes connecting to the 02 ink cartridges attached to the printer. The ink is less than one tenth the cost, and the startup cost is about $90 or so.

HIGHLY recommended. Please private message me or reply here if anyone wants details.

PS - I do not sell them myself, but I do recommend them because they have smashed my printing costs for work and home.

      • I also have ciss. One major problem for me is the ink fades rapidly in light. Can't hang prints on walls. Oem ink also gave better colour.

        • hey Kim

What brand is your system/ink ?

There are different qualities out there

          • @shmahoo: It was a biggish australian seller i forget the name of. Costed 130 for the epson 1410. The reviews were all good.

            • @kimmik: Is this the ebay seller with the German ink? I bought it for my dad also but found that the colours were not very good even after cleaning the head numerous times. But the build quality seemed pretty good.

              • @TCM: not ebay. australian store specialised in ciss.

        • ^^^ This is true with alot of cheaper ink and paper as well.

I had some photos indoors but exposed to light (not sunlight) and air. Some were Hp ink on HP paper, others were HP ink on a cheaper brand photo paper.

I noticed the grass in some of the photos looked a strange colour so i pulled them out of their frames. On the cheap paper the photo had faded badly except for where the frame had been covering the sides. The HP ink of HP paper photos (in the same frames) did not have this issue.

          I was surprised.

If you are wanting ink for photos then stick to genuine. For documents generic should be fine. Having said all that, getting your prints done properly is so cheap why would you bother using an inkjet for it?

      • just curious, which brand do you use?

  • Not a bad offer I guess.

I just get refilled cartridges instead. Give them my empty cartridges & get refilled ones in return, costs me about half price of a new one. Plus it's recycling.

    • Where do you do that?

      • I get mine from Cartridge World. Theres a few others about that also do the same.

    • Yeah I just refill my empties as well.
Bought alot of genuine XL colour cartridges for my HP printer so its just the black I need refilled.

Still, I might get a couple XL black's as they only cost $5-$10 more to fill up.

  • Just ran out of black ink ! Good timing

  • ink cartridges are such a con! They tell you they are out of ink when there is plenty left in the tank and every so often the printer (HP) does "maintenance" where they use up some ink.

Then there is the bloody expiry, yes my cartridges can expire! Even when there's ink left they won't let me use it 'cause it's past the "sell by date"!

    • Theres cartridges with expiry dates?

Now that really is such a stupid thing to do. Some people just keep buying new printers instead of new ink cartridges as it works out cheaper that way with the bundled in carts..

    • On my Brother printer if I am 'low' on ink it simply won't print! Even when I take the cartridges out and see there is plenty.
Easily fixed by putting some black electrical tape over the sensor.

They'll sell you the printer for $150. But god help you when the cartridges run out.

  • Excellent price thanks mate will go there this morning. I always use the proper Canon ink replacements. I used to use the generic cheap replacements and I find that the colour reproduction isn't as good also I find that it clogs the head more as well.

im happy to stick to my laser printer.. 35$ for 2000 pages :D

    • Truth. PEWPEWPEW!

    • i would hazard a guess that many inkjet users also have a decent laser on the side.

  • Does anyone know how long this offer will last?

    • I think it lasts only for one day…

      • HN Chatswood advised it runs until Tuesday.

        • Cheers will go there tomorrow :)

  • I cant anywhere to order Ink Cartridge online in Harvey, anybody can show me where to find the HL-2142 Cartridge please ? (Brother one).

  • Just grab a couple in stores, Melbourne (Maribyrnong).
Apparently the deal was for yesterday? Admin gave it to me anyway :D

    • Went into the Southland store and it was still advertised at buy one get one free :D Got a couple just then!

  • On a side note:

Can anyone advise where I can find real, actual good quality inkjet inks to refill myself?
They all claim to be good quality etc but as above I have found some fade really fast.
Which brand or supplier is up to or near OEM quality?

    • None mate. Refills are only for people who want to save money but are happy with an inferior product. There is no substitute for the real thing.

  • I'm a cheapo and purchase bottles of black ink that can be injected into the cartridge. It's mad cheap. Less than $20 for 400ml. I use it to print my documents and they seem fine! Have been doing this for 2 years now, and it hasn't caused any problems to my printer so far.. So gone are the days where I will fork out $$$ for ink cartridges!

  • i just went today, the offer is still valid.

  • This deal expires today.

  • i went there hoping to clear out their epson ink….alas they have not inks for my printer.

  • Yeah I got the value pack for my Canon looks like they are limited to the stock they have on hand though. But the guy was able to backorder me one of the single blacks I wanted to get what was prity good.

    • Shouldn't it be free if there are none in stock….

  • Aaaaahhhh.. my bad. I was out of my black ink cartridge and bought a new one from post last week, after waiting for any good bargain for 22.95 dollars. :(

  • great deal ! I bough 2 sets of HP 940 XL - 50% off , best deal ever with genuine ink .

  • is the special over already? link not working =/ othewrise i'd go tomorrow n grab some

    • Awww nuu, the link was working fine yesterday. Does that mean it's over? Could be. :( I should have gone in yesterday.

    • Special is in store only not online, and it is featured on front page of current electrical catalogue,so it probably still has time left on it

      • I'm not so sure. The only catalogues currently listed are for bedding and outdoor furniture. All previous catalogues finished 19th I believe.

Damn I need new ink but was away all weekend.

  • Called the Maribyrnong HN store this morning and was told the promotion had finished. I mentioned that other HN stores were still offering the deal but was told that they couldn't help me. Bugger.

  • +1

      • Guys is this all Domaynes?

I went to HN Chatswood yesterday and they told me it ended on Sunday :(

  • went to the chadstone store and was told the offer finished yesterday. Bummer!

  • wish i saw this earlier! I hope there is another one of these soon

  • I had also gone to HN at Martin Pl today, but was told that the deal was over yesterday!
