  • Expedia have good prices only thing if you book an overseas hotel, while this is charged in Aussie Dollars, it's charged through the UK, so your card company will whack you for a foreign exchange transaction which can eat into the 10% off price.

Not sure if this also occurs for Australian bookings as I haven't done this

  • Where do you enter the code?

  • hello! this is very dodgey! i cannot even find a field to enter coupon code! where do we type it? until we pay for our credit card transaction???

  • To ozpete- I've never been charged a foreign conversion fee for any of my bookings, on American Express, ANZ cards and my Citibank card. I have only had foreign stays, however, none in Australia. I feel the 10% puts their pricing even further ahead of the competition than usual. That said- price matches with Starwood's BRG can't be beat.

Oh, and the coupon box it towards the end of the transaction, once you've chosen a room/hotel.

    • There is no conversion fee, but its a foreign transaction fee. If your card company charges these fees you can be whacked for it. Just be careful which card you use. Wizard card is fine, others may have different policies.

If the charge was made by an Australian entity then no card company would be able to make this charge….

Its not to say dont book with Expedia, just be aware of how you pay.

      • I used expedia to book hotels in the US last year and never been charged an fx fee. And my card definitely charges the fee.

        • It have also not experienced Expedia charging additional fees for foreign transactions on international hotel bookings made through their Australian website.

I booked several European and US hotels through www.expedia.com.au with my Citibank visa card in May and was not charged a foreign transaction fee. However, there were a few nights I did not book in advance and when I paid for those hotels in the foreign countries in local currencies, I was (as expected) charged the foreign transaction fee.

  • Always compare at hotelscombined.com

  • This is a cracking deal
