I've used Corelle before and they're very sturdy plates, they will take a chest height drop on timber flooring. It's a shame I bought Royal Doulton a day before this sale came out, before this I was using 10 year old melamine plates!

  • It also located on Page 36 of the catalogue. The rest of the Corelle brand is 30% off.

Great set, managed to get this set for $20 from woolies a few months ago. Although, I would call them bland, not stylish.

    • 20 bux really?

this at $35, no so much of a great deal then ?

The thing was, when I bought it, the original price was $60, but was on special for $40. When I went to pay for it at the checkout, I was told I get $20 off because of my Woolworths Rewards cashback thingy that they do. Hence the reason why I got it for $20, otherwise at $35 its a better price than the $40 I was originally buying it for.

        • Good you cleared that up. You really got it for $40 before the rewards. If you had a $40 rewards then you'd have gotten it for 0. The relevant price is the one before specifics to individuals.

    • I consider them stylish. Because printed plates always soon lose their pattern. These always look new. Only thing I don't like is the cups. I'm sure they used to make cups that were just like the plates. Apart from the looks, I haven't one explode/break yet - but the cup walls get abnormally hot in the microwave, which always worries me.

Only One cons is that there is no bottom ring for the bowl which makes it too hot to hold when the food is hot, I am a Chinese :)

Ah I have one of these bowls and really dislike it and now I realise thats why!!!

Corelle is pretty good, just be aware that when/if these do break they explode and being glass can be dangerous.

    • I really like our Corelle plates, great lightweight dinnerware, but I agree they can be dangerous if they break.

I had one of them explode in the microwave, for some reason it wasn't too bad, mostly just split into 3 pieces with a few glass slivers and being in the microwave it was all contained. A second one got dropped and exploded across the floor making a fairly large and dangerous mess of glass shards.

There are some stories on the internet about them exploding as they are picked up which would be quite nasty. Having said that I have a plate that's had a piece chipped out of it and it's still going fine 5+ years after that damage happened.

      • I've had a set for over 8 years and do drop them on occasions, never even had a chip, I'm surprised they would break(explod) so badly. Love how strong and light weight they are!

  • 1 left at Garden City UMG.

I bought the set. The bowl and smaller plate are quite small. 40% off the price for 40% off the size.
