  • I thought this was actually always free, do you gain anything other than points for QFF? If not then what makes joining worth $90?

    • You've had to pay for it for ages but you've also had the ability to get it for free from various places - most popular/easiest was and probably still is via Woolworths (https://www.qantaspoints.com/join-now?code=WOOLWORTHS). Being a member is worth it if a) you do a bit of flying and b) you're willing to be flexible when redeeming points for flights (as best value from FF points are generally to be had when swapping for flights or upgrades). Membership from then on is free, although I think you do need to earn or spend points once every couple of years to keep it active.

so after Dec 2017 you have to pay and rejoin? no thanks

    • +1

Nope it's a once off payment.

  • Thank you for choosing to be rewarded

Congratulations on thanking me for paying you.

  • I wonder who has ever actually paid for this membership as it is ridiculously easy to be obtained for free.

I would suggest there could be a hall of shame for OzB members who confess to having paid for this!

    • I paid for it. The year was 2003 and there was not really any other option.

Pre Woolworths it was basically the only way to join aside corporate or if you flew premium cabins.

      • You could have put in an overseas address on joining and changed it back later. Qantas only thinks that Australians (and New Zealanders) should pay.

I paid for it in 2010. Even though had ozb then but didn't search first. Lessons learnt.

    • You get a pass if it was 14 years ago :)

  • This is different with Qantas club membership right? which you can use for their Lounges

    • Yes. This is just the Qantas Frequent Flyer membership, used to accrue points when flying on Qantas, Jetstar (With bundles) and other OneWorld airlines like JAL, Cathay Pacific, etc, which comes free with a Qantas Club membership anyway

  • +1

Surprised they're still giving this away. With the posterior falling out of the rewards program with the bank interchange crunch, membership fees might well end up QFFs biggest earner!!. Then again who'd want to pay to join a failing program anyway. Given that QFF has been Qantas's biggest money spinner, might be a good time to sell those Qantas shares .. :-) .. !!

  • If I'm about to book a one off return Emirates/Qantas flight to London is it gonna benefit me at all to join? Would I have to do more flights to make it useful? Thanks

    • Might be able to Get a $20 woolies/Bigw gift card so prob worth it

  • Is QANTAS the only airline which still charges (other than the occasional free deal) to join their FF program … I'm in Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Air Asia and Virgin = all free

  • Any free link to join company Qff membership? The one requires ABN.
