  • They're good to prevent people opening them from the outside.
From the inside, they're crap locks, I can pick them, and I can only pick the $2 locks you buy from the reject shop.
In other words, these are crap locks (not very secure), but they do stop people from wrenching open your window.

You freely admit that you'd break in through a window if you could? Wow. You are scum. ;)

            @Lenneth: ROFL! :D

Probably only if it was a pensioner's window, on pension day! :p

        WTF?

        • You had to be there dude! ;)

      • Where the hell did I say that?
I freely admit I can pick cheap crap locks from the reject shop.
All I'm saying is that the lock's security is similar. Credit goes to Youtube users and their tutorials.
I'm not going to insult you with stupid assumptions, I know that I can pick these because I have these locks on my window at home.
What this kit effectively does is have a hole drilled into the side of the window rail (stationary), top or bottom your choice, when you lock it, a metal piece from the kit goes through that hole, and that metal rod piece is attached to your window itself, preventing people from opening your window by crowbarring or leveraging it.

      • LOL i just saw it now

I don't see it.. I didn't say 'um yes I would' like the other said
I don't appreciate being called scum either, especially when all I did was state the level of security in the product's lock as compared to a reject shop lock.

          • @cwongtech: Whooooooosh! Seriously dude, did that even ruffle your hair? :p

Settle bro, nobody's having a go at you, over anything…Lenneth just pounced on a great opportunity to recycle a gag from the Rogers/Gelaskins thread! ;)

Trust me, it was a good one; and even though the joke seems to be lost on you, you were never the butt of it! I seriously doubt there was any offence intended! :)

    • "They’re good to prevent people opening them from the outside"
That's what it's all about. That is unless your locked in a mental asylum
and trying to pick the lock from the inside. Yeah I can follow that logic.

      • Say you don't want to break a window.. But you can't fit through a 43" tv through the toilet window and you don't have any explosives… Clean and silent through a large window with one of these locks being opened.
Just a scenario, I am NOT a thief, just watched too much Oceans' series and Italian Job.
If you're in a mental assylum, I doubt you'd be able to get out through the window

  • aren't these against fire safety regulations?

    • I doubt it many new windows come with these attached to the window itself.

Also what about people with permanent security screens.

You can always just smash the window anyway.

      • Good point with permanent screens..
With windows you should be able to smash in case of a fire emergency, screens, well… Just keep burnin' baby ;) until the fireman gets the Jaws of life (used to cut sheets of metal such as car roofs) and gets you out.
