32GB Sandisk MicroSD Card $15.77

29

So cheap it's possibly a pricing error. No harm in trying. We have Paypal on our side.

I'd love to think it's right, but I'm very wary of buying flash media from ebay.

      • Only 109 sales though. Thats not much. And as you said only one person has given feedback on this memory card.

I bought 16g memory from ebay. Checked on my computer and said it was 16gb. Discovered that it was only 2gb when I tried to save stuff on it, it would all become corrupted whenever more than 2gb was saved. It was also risky using it as a 2gb card as it doesn't alert you that it has reached its 2gb limit, as the computer keeps saving files on it even after exceeding 2gb as it thinks it is 16gb. Reported it to seller (who had about 16,000 POSITIVE feedback!) and seller told me to keep the card and seller provided a FULL REFUND.

Ebay is reknown for having memory cards stating one size and when you use it its something completely different.

  • +1

No frickin' way is this for real.

  • Is it Sandisk? I cant see it on the item page

    • You're right. This one is not Sandisk. I'll edit the OP to make it the Sandisk one.

  • this is definitely FAKE! Buyer beware.

  • +1

    I'd bet $15.76 that it's a fake…

  • +1

Something tells me this is a case of 'too good to be true'.

But best of luck to those willing to take the risk!

  • No where has it been mentioned that this is a Sandisk card!!!
And that photo isn't even on the eBay listing as well!

    • Yeah I thought I found one cheaper but it seemed to be less likely to be genuine.

      • Okay listing changed!
Now that they've mentioned it's a Genuine Sandisk in the listing, it's risk free with Paypal :)

        • It is not free with paypal, paypal are scum. They require you to actually seek out an expert, and get them to sign a piece of paper PROVING that it is fake. This is not easy thing to do, a huge waste of time, and only free if you are unemployed and no someone.

Paypal are scumbags, search on google for 1000s of warning stories.

  • what makes you (the op) think that its a pricing error when you have found more than one place selling this size card for around the same price. Two places with the pricing error? Not likely. These are fake.

    • +2

I'm just passing on something I found which seemed cheap. I'm not telling you to buy them. I didn't buy one. I just thought it would be nice to let others know of a possible bargain. Isn't that what this site is for?

      • that admirable but neither the seller or the site its on is reputable so it needs a lot to prove that it really is what it claims to be.

  • +2

lol genuine memory cards on ebay?

  • +1

    probably fake considering the price

  • +3

The only thing 100% positive about this listing is that the card isn't genuine.

Paypal will make you send the card back to them registered post before giving you a refund which will be more expensive than the card itself.

  • +1

Ok SERIOUSLY, i have been stung by these deals. These guys buy say 4gb sd cards, change the firmware so its says 32g then sell. When you fill the 4gb, it writes over the first 4gb….

  • +2

i agree with footy on this one. They regularly sell SD cards on ebay that have had the firmware adjusted to say they're larger than they're really are. When you find out and you make a complaint to paypal, the onus is on you to prove that it is fake. Basically the cost to hire someone to say its fake is greater than the cost of the card, so you end up losing out. I wouldnt bother with this tbh, ive read far too many of these scams on whirlpool to know it isnt a pricing error.

    • It's probably best to delete it then.

      Sorry guys.

More useless deals posted on Ozbargain.

    • PayPal is only a middleman between your credit card service provider and the seller, nothing more.

If you are having any problems with PayPal, simply tell them to fix it or you will do a chargeback through your credit card provider.

I don't take any nonsense from them and I've never had to do a chargeback so far.

If they don't respond favourably - or quickly enough, just do it.

      End of problem!

      • simply tell them to fix it or you will do a chargeback through your credit card provider.

Not all companies will let you do a chargeback to paypal.

A chargeback is done to a marchant and not all banks see paypal as a merchant (which they are not, they are a middleman).

        • Just the threat of of a chargeback has facilitated a quick refund from PayPal, so I've never had to do an actual chargeback against them so far.

As I understand it, while PayPal is a de facto middleman, it is the de jure merchant as far as the credit card service provider is concerned. They pay PayPal. PayPal pays the merchant. The card provider's contract is with PayPal, not the eventual seller. The credit provider neither knows or cares what PayPal eventually does with the money.

However maybe someone knows the exact technical details.

  • Seeing as MSY are selling a 16gb version for $49, buying this is only asking for trouble.

  • probably fake

  • +1

lolz, straight from china, flapping fakes, expect real 32gb cards to be at least $90.

  • +3

take my advise: don't buy it!

or you'll regret & wasted your money, spent it on some poor child Christmas gift instead!

  • a lot of HK n china seller selling fake mircro sd card. im pretty sure this is another fake 1

  • Activate - An OP that only had good intentions by posting this deal but has gotten negatives since buyers are unlikely going to get what is being sold in this deal. Is anyone having a go at Activate? No. Is the deal getting negged? Yes. Are the negatives deserved? Yes.

    You reading this allyemil?

  • I have over 20 fake chinese memory sticks/SD/mSD here, if it's cheap Ebay then i can 99% guarantee it is fake.Good news is you get ur money back from paypal most of the time.

  • The ebay listing has a 14 day money back, buyer pays return shipping guarantee.

Being so small you will be able to sent it as an airmail letter for $1.50 if it is not genuine.

There are a number of tools to tell if your card is real or fake

If you have purchased one and want to check if it is real use this tool
    http://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://ww…

The page is in German but the tool works in English

  • Fake

  • It's probably a fake. But you will never know, because SD cards have become so cheap (as compared to say 4-5 years ago) that Sandisk no longer make them to any particular specs. And they have stopped using the hologram and stuff. Therefore, the "how to tell a fake from genuine" guide doesn't actually apply anymore since all those recently manufactured genuine cards no longer look like the "genuine" cards in the guide.

  • Anthony,
What tools are you aware of?
I haven't yet been able to find any good ones.

    Thanks!

    • I edited my post above :-)

      • Cheers!
        Thanks mate

      • If the Stick, you want to just save the data, really heal? If the system really has come in the years to cope with large hard drives?

        hehehe ;)

  • Without a doubt, it is fake.

  • Yep it's fake for sure. It probably really only has 1gb of physical memory with a hacked firmware.

  • ive had a friend who bought from this deal. Hasnt received it yet. but i told him its fake from the price.
    too good to be true

    • lol spam much.

      • lol…my bad
i just got capped on internet…went really slow and i click post comment like 10 times…hahaha

  • buy at ebay at your own risk. i got a 16gb card for AUD13 the other time and because I changed my mind, I asked for refund before it reached here… and it turned out to be a 1.5gb card programmed to be a 16gb card.

even with 1.5gb usable storage, you can't be sure of it's integrity. so basically you'll just throw money down the drain.

I bought a 16gb usb stick from hong kong on ebay AGES ago and while it was capable of holding 16gb of data, the data had to be really small for it to not become corrupted. Large video files and applications would become corrupted.

I bought a genuine 16gb micro sd card on ebay for $40, so for a genuine 32gb card you'd have to pay at least $80+

  • Very unfortunate if you truly wanted to sell SD cards on ebay.

  • +1

I was silly enough to purchase a 32gig Class 6 Kingston for $18 based on desperation. I figured I'd be lucky cause the guy had 100% feedback and had 1000 in stock, I guessed they were way overstocked and just wanted to get rid of them quickly.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180558…

I haven't received my shipment yet, it's to soon.
But it appears the feedback dropped from 100% too 93% with flash media complaints.
I still have a chance with no Kingston feedback yet but it looks like I'll be receiving a fake.

I will be going through lots of testing and if there are any problems will be diligent on reporting this user and getting my money back. With lots of negative reviews on flash media and a complaint from a seller/buyer who has 100% feedback with over 200 items. I should be the trustworthy one!

With 88 sold at least 40% should be smart enough to complain. I'll probably stick to sourcing my own tests.
    http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/h2testw-14-gold…
The program information above should provide sufficient evidence that this is a fake (if it's a fake of course).

I'll even video record taking the memory card out the envelope straight into the computer and testing.

I'll let you know how my case goes.
