    • From the emulator scene, I understand the N64 is quite hard to emulate, there isn't one that plays all.

Hopefully Nintendo with the blueprints to the entire architecture would be able to pull it off.

  • +2

Good lord, this is what I wake up to? (profanity), here goes some more money.

Edit: HOLY SHIT STARFOX 2 IS FINALLY GETTING A RELEASE!?!?!?!?!

  • +1

this is the one to get thanks OP!

  • +1

Let me know when they release the N64, preloaded with Goldeneye…and with 4 controllers….

    • And conkers bad fur day.

    • Gonna be almost almost impossible and the liscences have long since expired. There would be insane royalties involved getting the rights to this.

And Rare owns the Conker name - not Nintendo. Im pretty sure Microsoft wont be allowing Nintendo to use one of there properties anytime soon.

I know it's a good deal when I click the upvote button and it jumps from 84 votes to 90

  • Can you buy SNES games and play them on this?

    • Nope

      • Oh well, I won't be getting it then, cheers!

        • +1

It comes with a vast majority of the best ones anyway. There's very few you'd need to buy on top of this anyway.

  • If you need an excuse its perfect timing for Fathers day dads!!!!

    • +1

Father's day is first week of September. This comes out September 30th.

      • +1

Close enough mate, close enough :p

  • +2

Feels good to see Nintendo doing well!!

Preordered for the first time with EBGames for a console ever!

  • +1

    PREORDERED!!

  • +1

    Wow

  • +1

    This pleases me!

  • +2

Glad we get FX chip games for the first time (never made it to virtual console.) Sad there's no Stunt Race FX tho.

    • I tried playing this the other day. The frame rate gave me headaches. Doesnt hold up well at all.

      • Would be great remastered! The driving physics are super fun.

  • +5

Well worth the money. The NES Mini is great, just for the fact that you can force your kids to play ancient video games if they misbehave.

    • +1

      lucky kids

  • +1

Hopefully the controller cables are a decent length this time around!

    • Nah. the tiny cords are a feature now of these things

    • I read they're 5 feet instead of the 3ft that came with NES.

  • +2

I'm kind of surprised it doesn't have Super Mario All Stars. I know Mario 1,2 and 3 were on the NES, but I'm sure I played more Mario on this thin then any other game over the years.

  • +1

    Awesome just pre ordered.
Not going to miss out like last time.

  • They really milked the word "Super" for this console didn't they. I'll hold out for the N64 version.

    • +1

They really milked the number "64" for the N64 :P

  • +1

Not a fan of pre ordering but I'm weak. Nice collection of games even if it is missing DKC2. Two controllers out of the box for street fighter. Just wish I had of bought the NES classic to sit next to it :\

  • +7

I just went looking for a second controller (unlike last time) and noticed now they've included 2 controllers which justifies the extra $20 price hike.

  • Not being across heaps of SNES games, which ones there are rated M? :P haha

    "Crude humour and sexual references"

    • Earthbound, I think.

  • If the controllers actually plug into the front then they won't use the same connectors as the wii/nes mini. Too bad, I wanted some good SNES controllers for my hakchi NES Mini.

    • +2

This Super Famicom pic makes it look like they are the same http://i.imgur.com/kP9OkSp.jpg

      • Haha weird, the SNES connectors are fake and just fold down. Looks a bit dodgy but at least it means the controllers should work on the NES mini or with Wii controller extension cables.

  • There is an abundance of quality on there. Not to mention games that were never released in Australia on the original SNES until now AND you get 2 controllers out of the box!

$120 is well worth it. Not to mention this thing WILL sell out and will most likely be restocked in drips just like the NES Mini.

  • Anyone get a confirmation email yet?

    • Yep.
Just ordered and got the email confirmation pretty much straight away.

    • Yep received mine a few minutes after placing an order.

  • Got two. One to keep and one for the collection. Don't think these will be as scarce as the Mini NES

    • Assume you did two orders under different names?

they will cancel both orders if you used same name as they are limited to one per person
if you put both in a single order… they will cancel that also.

      • +2

Pre-order one at EB and another at JB.

      • Have ordered multiple one per only things before and never had a cancel ever.

  • +1

I bought this solely for the controller.

Playing Super Mario Kart on the Wii & WiiU just isnt the same unless you have the L & R buttons to powerslide.

Now, hurry up and make the N64 Mini!!!

    • assuming you mean you'll be playing on the mini console, judging by the image these controllers won't be compatible with the Wii/Wii U like the NES ones were. These look like they have mini versions of the original plugs.

      • +2

Yep, you betcha on the mini console. If no Super Mario Kart on there - would not have bought it!

      • +1

This Japanese pic makes it look like they'll be Wii compatible http://i.imgur.com/kP9OkSp.jpg

        • Ahh interesting.. so yeah I guess there's a false cover over the plugs then. Thanks.

    • Id say there's a 99% chance its coming, judging by the popularity of these so far.

Only thing is getting the liscences for a lot of the best N64 games will be bloody difficult.

      • Yep little chance of Banjo Kazooie and probably goldeneye, on the bright side Mario partys, snowboard kids, zelda, pokemon snap and super smash bros.

    • +2

Yes… because they are the only costs associated with the product.

    • +2

Yet, you came in and added nothing to the converstation. Good for you.

Its a collectable. I suggest you look up the meaning of the word.

      • You just plug the USB cable into the TV, no need for any adapters….

  • Been waiting for this!

  • +17

I have the NES Classic; hardly play it. I have a Pi loaded with everything; hardly play it. I still preordered this. I need help.

    • Yes. Yes you do.

      • -dajackal puffs out his chest and straps a powerglove on-

    • +1

I have the nes classic too. Hardly play it. But I've just preordered too.

    • I've got those 2 plus GPD XD and I hardly played any of those because of the Nintendo Switch. (Got it from OZB deals)
Now I just saw Sega Mega Drive Classic and Atari Classic on EB Games website.
I need more help than you!

  • Do these things use HDMI?

    • Yes.

  • If I have the real original SNES, would this still be a good purchase?

    • Depends how many of the mini's games that you already own, and whether its cheaper to buy the ones you're missing separately or not.

    • I have an original SNES, but it no longer works. :(

That's why I pre-ordered one of these babies.

  • Hi Guys,

Silly question, what is the difference between buying this one and a original SNES from ebay? And which one would be better?

    • +7

      I agree - that's a silly question.

    • +1

To get all those games on ebay will be quite expensive. $100 for the console, Games between $5-$100. If you don't know what games you want to play, get the SNES mini from here. IF you are after a few select games that are not included in this bundle, buy one off ebay.

    • +1

This comes with 2 controllers and HDMI. Original either uses RF or composite AV and comes with 1 controller standard.

This is an all in one system. Games build in. Original SNES will require to swap out carts over and over.

Games wise, you would struggle to get those games for anything close to thousands of dollars on the orginal SNES - not to mention some of them were never released in Australia - or at all in Starfox 2's case.

Unless you are a collector and want the orginals of everything, a purist that wont touch anything emulated or have money to burn - This Mini version is the way to go.

      • Thanks. Will the graphics of the classic be the same as the original SNES?

        • They are emulated, so while not being 100% accurate - most people would never know the difference.

        • @DKPARTY:

          ok thanks

  • +1

so will there be a chance to add more games onto the system?

  • just realise the SNES mini controller ports are not same as the NES mini, lucky we get two controllers in the bundle.

    • The SNES controller has many more buttons than the NES… they wouldn't work anyway!

    • +2

I have a feeling the controller ports will be same as the NES mini.

If you look at the Japanese press release it has a picture with the controllers plugged in. It looks as though the front panel with the original controller ports are decorative and flips out revealing the same connections as the NES Mini and the Wii.

      https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/en/2017/img_170…

      • that is great, this means the new SNES MINI controllers are compatible with the NES mini
don't need to buy wii classic pro controllers for the mini NES anymore.

  • Will the graphic quality/sound be the same as the original SNES?

  • Oh! Don't do this to me! I don't need this but nostalgia alone has me hovering. But, for another $280 I could grab a Switch if I snag a deal, like those of late…

    Must resist, must!

  • +1

Would be awesome if we could download additional games as well

    • -1

Agreed. The alternative is that you could install Recalbox/Retropie on a Raspberry Pi.

  • So just to confirm, if BIG W or JB have this cheaper on release when you go to collect your order from EB, they will price match? That's my only concern…

    • You can only price match if they have in stock. Safest bet is to try to preorderbigw and target also if you think they will sell cheaper (doubt it)

      • +1

Yeah that's a point. Preordered with EB anyway…will risk it. :)

  • +1

    Thankyou!

  • +1

    done!

  • +3

20+1 games due to Star Fox 2 being locked. You have to play 1 stage of Star Fox to unlock

According to the press release "players must prove their skill by completing the first level of the original Star Fox before Star Fox 2 is unlocked to play".

  • +1

    Thank You!! :D

  • Preorders are now open at JB Hifi too if that's your store of choice: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/games/gaming-consol…

  • +1

Dang..95 cents cheaper at JB now with pickup

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/games/gaming-consol…

    • can you pick up instore at JB?

      • Click and collect not available. Delivery $6.95. That will make jb $6.90 more expensive!

        • Maths Fail - makes it $6 more expensive…

      • my bad. click and collect is so common nowadays that it automatically registered as that in ma brain. soz

      • You can pre-order instore.

  • Wait this is SFC not SNES right? You know the total grey and purple one is SNES, no? Or Australia was the other way round because being in the southern hemisphere?
