Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 WINDFORCE OC 8G $449.99 USD (~$618 AUD Including Shipping) @ Massdrop

Massdrop is offering the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 WINDFORCE OC 8G for $450 USD + I got $17.95 shipping, adding those gives me a total of around $468 USD converts to around $618 AUD, which is still pretty cheap considering cheapest we can get here in AU is around $800

  • "customs will be 20% extra?"

    Whats this about?

BTW Umart sells this for $699 http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products-details.phtml?bi…

    • I don't know, I was reading the discussions on the mass drop about it, maybe we don't get it, would bring the price down to $617

      • That was a reply to someone who was asking about UK and Ireland.

        • Yea I fixed it, thanks. Cheaper than umart now :p

I know AMD cards are the worst offenders here but isn't it a pretty bad time to be buying a GPU, even Pascal cards, due to the Ethereum mining craze?

    • 1080 is not a good choice for mining. 1070/1080TIs on the other hand…

    • Depends. If you have a rx470/480/570/580 etc, now is a great time to sell your card and upgrade.

I flipped my 4Gb rx480 on Monday for $450 and lucked out by finding a second hand 1080 for $463.

      • Or u could have mined for 2 months and got both cards

Doesn't the cost of electricity in Australia make mining infeasible?

@iMagoo: Pretty much, but everyone just reads click bate articles and regurgitates the info even if it doesn't apply to them.

@KLoNe: still feasible in Aus given the current prices.

        • @KLoNe:
          No, not even close!
It is many times profitable on the right cards,
e.g https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/eth?HashingP… (GTX1060 6GB) Just convert from USD to AUD.

@Namesareapain: Sure, with difficulty sky-rocketing every day you should make your money back, like never… if your rig never goes down.

        • @KLoNe:
The price has also sky-rocketed (more than the difficulty!).

      • Where the profanity did you find a 1080 so cheap? I've had such bad luck trying to find a decently priced 1070 or 80.

        • Ebay

        • got a brand new gtx 1080 from PNY for 670.

        • @Reggienator: lol you missed out duuuuuuudeee, what GPU you have now?
I'm upgrading from Gtx 980 to 1080 Ti, waiting is what we can do, more tax return deals

        • @TheMoDz:
I was hoping to sell my rx 480 on ebay and upgrade. But seems ive missed out on all the bargain 1070s/80s.

        • @Reggienator: patience, we wait, because ive pulled the trigger on many things here then the next day i see a better one, I die a little bit inside :(

      • That wouldn't happen to be the MSI 1080 a couple nights ago? Which seller said had tried to use in sli? If so I clicked buy it now and it was sold :(

    • It gives you a reason to save up more for the 1080.

  • Drop ended. No more stock I guess
