Is this better than the mi box 3?
Looking to get a new one and although mine is better specced than the mibox it's still buggy and i'm probably going to get the mibox so i can use netflix in higher quality.
I would suggest there are many more "better" ones, but I understand the price on this unit is significantly lower than Mi Box 3. I saw a few of them here for over $70.

Just a note to people hoping to run LibreElec / Kodi, this is Rockchip based (as opposed to AMLogic) so expect little/no support.

Barely. My phone is pretty shit and it runs A7 on 1gb @ 618mbfor OS, 50 for UI, 50 for Google Play services and 40 for System.
I might be wrong but I believe that rock chip pre installed their own kodi and can't update from playstore
You would do better off with 17.2 Android box Kodi as 17.1 has issues according to the online tutorials for using the builds out there. You can then update to the Latest 17.3 builds as well.Heaps of them at competitive prices on ebay plus 5% off and cash rewards. Alot of people are predicting that there may be a final 15% or 20% off later this evening to finish the eofy.
Why do you say this one is not upgradeable? Isn't it just a software update?
The Android box is 17.1 is operating System never changes. You can see that always in your settings. However the hardware it self is buggy with its built in operating system..17.2 is better…You can then download and install Kodi version 17.3 Its pretty easy and you can use any build out there that you like. You may have problems with 17.1 hardware…Also best to us a VPN All sellers know that 17.1 hardware is buggy and hence the lower price so they can get rid of them.Hope that helps
I dont know much about these things but my friend recently gave me haier dma6000 because i dont have a smart tv. He had this spare haier device he bought in dubai long ago. I thought the same that its just about the software and i will be able to install and update anything. But i cant find any help online as everything is in russian, software cant be updated for some reasons (i found on a website that it cant be updated online) and i cant install many things including kodi as i get a message that my device is not compatible. So i guess its not just about software.
You need to back up the old software you need to keep and do a fresh start or do a factory reset and will be like new. It will clear everything and then start clean.
Lots of these boxes are ship and forget…. I have a few …..they work ok and are cheap …… In regards to android updates …..often you need to do it via SD card or USB cable ……
