Have been looking at this little beauty for a while. Previous deal was for the version without M2 SSD and AC WIFI https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/306386.

Currently also 22% off via the EZbook store on Aliexpress, just grabbed one for the wife.

Biggest drawback is the 64GB Toshiba EMMC drive, but reviews for it aren't the worst for this type of drive and now you have the option of an SSD upgrade/extra storage.
Don't forget 2.4%/7% cashback through cash-rewards.

This model was $219USD a week ago on flash sale - so wouldn't recommend buying at this price. Also keep in mind Gearbest have no product currently in stock, still waiting on shipment from that previous flash sale.

Wait a week or two for another sale and more stock to arrive.

yeah, the "previous " model (without the 128GB TF Card Expansion) was AU$100 less. there will be another flash sale sometime soon.

great machine for the price. the added micro sd card expansion slot is awesome.

I bought the previous model for $219 USD (~$300aud), sold it when I heard this model was being advertised at the same price, and am now waiting on shipment.

They've also just announced a 14.1" sized version of this laptop with a 7th gen M3 processor that could be even better.

  • What is the warranty support like for these? Tossing up between this or one of those Dell $319 laptops that appear on OzBargain every other week. This seem to have better specs for not much more money, but worried about warranty.

    • Neither GearBest nor Jumper have repair facilities in Australia. GB says:

Customers must pay the shipping fees for returning the item to GearBest , while we will cover the shipping fees to send the repaired item back to the customer. http://www.gearbest.com/about/warranty-and-return.html

There is recourse if there is a serious flaw, but an Australian purchase will come with much greater peace of mind.

      • Hmmm, if paying by PayPal they would cover the return shipping, but only within 150 days of the purchased date.

  • Ordered the previous version on a previous deal. It was "processing" for 3 weeks then they cancelled my order saying item is out of stock. Got a refund but lost money due to changing FX rates.

from what I read on Russian forums, they seem to be running this way:
    - produce a few test units they send out to well-known tech reviewers to test the water (no mainstream production at this point)
    - make a deal with online resellers to put the product page up
    - start collecting orders from potential buyers
    - produce and ship actual units using money collected
    - use the profit to improve design of the product
    - produce test units of improved product, send them out to tech reviewer etc.
    - stir and repeat until they have enough money to buy a one-way ticket to US.

so it is a sort of kickstarter China way.

this would explain why older iteration of the model disappeared suddenly earlier this year. They collected all money they could using first version, improved design, and switched to newer design because it generated more interest/profit.

  • ended up canceling my order. dispatch date kept shifting, and after watching all the available reviews I decided it's not worth the money.

ordered an HP from Amazon instead :) also FullHD IPS panel, but plastic body and cheaper. oh well, at least it's HP.

  • AU $360 now, by the way. are you russian, OP? this laptop is quite popular on Russian badass website 4pda

  • There is a code "BOOKPRO" can be used to reduce the price to 249.99USD with the sales. I ordered mine last night with insurance around $330 AUD. Looking forward to it
