    • this is pathetic, they just find excuse to delay the payment, so they may avoid it if people forget

They are flat out wrong. Evidence of this - people have already received $200 cashbacks and its not even been anyone's 4th statement.

I am also on the wait boat, been 60 days… I will be calling up soon.

      • $200 cashback will be paid as a statement credit to your Low Rate, 55 Day or 55 Day Platinum credit card account
within 60 days of activating the account.

Well that's obviously an error to start with, because it might take much longer than 60 days to spend the $400.

        I'm still waiting too.

    • thanks for clarifying, silly decision. Only 1 month to wait for me now then haha

  • Signed up a few weeks ago for this. What have I done?!

    • You mean you just randomly apply for westpac credit card without checking ozb? And Why choose westpac there are many better ones…

      • I chose it for the cashback obviously. Seems like it might be more trouble than it's worth though from the comments here.

Normally big banks will honour this kind of promotion, maybe slow or delay but you'll get it at the end. It's free money so a little effort is fine. Can't expect money to fall from the sky directly to our lap.

  • From June how come I didn't know this…. Applying now!

    • me too. just got aware of it due to the dupe post

      • Two veteran members missed, something wrong here. Must be a conspiracy against us!

  • damn online system cant make immediate decision.

    Guys,

I have received the cashback after following these steps:

    • Lodge a complaint on https://www.westpac.com.au/contact-us/feedback-complaints/ I used the online feedback form because the agent over the phone is hopeless.
    • Use template below:

I would like to report false advertising for the $200 cashback offer for my Card ending with number XXXX. I applied for the card on XX June 2017, and the card was approved on XX June. I met the minimum $400 on eligible purchases on XX August, which is 90 days from card approval. However, the $200 has not been credited to-date XX Oct 2017. This is not in accordance with the T&S and I would like this to be looked at before I lodge the case to ACCC.

    • Fill up info and member ID etc.

    • $200 cashback a week later with following response:

Thanks for your email regarding your Westpac card. Sorry to hear of the difficulties you've encountered with the $200 cash-back promotion. In light of your experience, we have actioned a credit to your Westpac card today for $200. This will process overnight.

    • Have done the same, and had the same response.

Few days after lodging the complaint they put the $200 in the account.

done inb4 the statement template gets ozbargained and westpac complaints department reply with a "lol, whatevs"

    • i also used your template & sent a complaint on 10th. Now waiting for the $200 cashback approval

    • Thanks. Lodged a complaint. Let's see how fast they respond.

  • Done, thank you, but they diabled pasting in that field.

  • Is this only for the existing westpac customers ?

  • I got a reply by email today (2 days later) saying they would transfer the 200 within 5-7 business days.

  • here's a reply I got just then:

    Dear OzBargainer,

Thanks for your email in regards to the $200 cashback offer.

We are sorry to hear of your concerns and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I have looked into this matter and have confirmed that regretfully, a processing delay has occurred.

The unexpected delay has resulted in a small number of customers not receiving the cashback within the advertised timeframe.

Good news! We have also confirmed that your cashback is currently being processed and will be credited to your account within 5 to 7 business days.

If you do not receive the cashback on or before October 25th, please call Customer Relations on 1300 130 206 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) for escalation of this matter.

    Your continued patience is appreciated.

Again, thanks for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention.

    • Same template received here.

      "Small number of customers" indeed…

      • Same template… I am also part of this so called small number. Didn't realise Ozbargain was such a small site!

        • Same here and still haven't received it. Tomorrow is the last day left.
Made the spent on 13th of July, complained through the form on 13th of October and still waiting.

        • @noskich: tomorrow is last day for what?

        • @dragonindespair:

"If you do not receive the cashback on or before October 25th, please call Customer Relations on 1300 130 206 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) for escalation of this matter."

    • I suspect the power of OzBargain has worked again, because I only just got my cashback on the 17th and I have not made a single call or complaint to them myself.

  • i got the same reply too

  • +1

is this deal still active? I cant see anywhere on Westpac wesbite about this promotion?

  • Thanks, just registered with the no fee card. Sweet.

  • In the Financial Table I received, say "$90.00 annual fee. Charged to your account following the first cash advance or credit purchase transaction and charged to your account in subsequent years on or after the anniversary of the first charge."
And no mention of $0 Annual card fee for the first year.

Do you guys get the same?

  • Got the card literally 4 business days after applying online. No payslip or id required. I had account with westpac but closed it like 5 years ago.

  • +2

Just confirming i received the cashback that was long overdue 2 business days after sending a complaint

    • How did you send the complaint?

      • See above comment by thatfreak

    • woohoo just got the cashback too! 3 business days after receiving complaint reply from westpac.

      • confirmed that I got the cash back as well, 3 business days after westpac reply.

side question - I now have $200 credit on my credit card, can I withdraw this from an ATM and not be charged fees or interest, i.e. 'cash advance'?

        • nevermind, found my own answer in their t and c:

An administrative charge of 2% of the value of the transaction will apply to each cash advance made on your card account, where your account has a negative (debit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it. A minimum charge of $2.50 and a maximum charge of $150 will apply in these circumstances.
Where your account has a positive (credit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it, a charge of $2.50 will apply to the transaction.
These charges will appear on your credit card statement directly below the relevant cash advance.

        • @iversonjack: nope it will count as cash advance.
actually now i remember yearssss ago, i had this balance transfer from anz to pay off my credit card balance at citibank. anz approved and transferred $30,000 but my citi balance is only $25,000.
i managed to get citi to send me cheque of $5,000 after long battle with them (weeks of phone and email). cant remember the details anymmore and dont want to repeat.

i think i told citi "hey that is my money anz agreed to paid off my balance with you plus a bit over, now give the remaining to me without any charges, i needed that $5,000 to pay medical bills."

this is just $200 i would just buy woolworth gift cards to the exact value then next billing balance will be zero then close the cc.

woolworth gift cards = cash for me (opal topup which i have to spend it anyway)

        • +1

haven't tried atm withdrawls but make sure you have at least $2.50 remaining on the card after withdrawl.

I have a rewards saver account, so I transferred 197.50 to that, and then from rewards saver to my main (different) bank account. that way westpac will only charge $2.50 for the cash advance.

  • just want to make sure, as there are many offers like this.
can we actually use the credit card to buy woolworths/jbhifi/coles giftcards and it will count into the spending requirement to get the cash back?

    also T&C:
Cashback promotion: The cashback offer is available when you apply for a new Low Rate, 55 Day, 55 Day Platinum credit card between 29th June 2017 and 26th October 2017 and spend $400 on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval. Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, BPAY, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.

so i cant pay electricity bills using bpay, but i can call the provider and give my credit card details? they are different, correct?

  • Just got my $200 cashback yesterday.
    Woohoo !
Probably not a coincidence that I rang yesterday morning and chased them about it.

  • i got cashback this morning as well. Good timing i had left $200 unpaid balance on card, so closed the card by calling them

  • Better late than never I guess. Finally got it

  • I haven't sent complaint yet, but I have just received cashback. It may be because some of ozbargainers have complaint. thank you!

  • +1

Got my cashback today.. 2 weeks after the $400 spend

    • +1

Same here, only two weeks since the spent, so wasn't expecting that! Thanks to other OzBargainers for helping keep Westpac honest ;)

    • dupe

    • did you made a complained or wrote email demanding cash back as the above posted suggested?

      • Nope, did nothing. But I did complain about an issue with my credit card not getting activated and credit card limit and stuff (mistake on the part of an employee at a branch), escalated that and got two calls from their customer care team. So maybe they took a bit more care not to make any more mistakes?

        • Hmm ok I will wait 2 weeks from today (hit my $400 spend just yesterday)

  • is the $400 spend on 1 transactions or can we accumulate?

    • I'm 99.99999% sure can be accumulated

  • Use this card for Uber and get every 3rd trip free. Fantastic!

    • How does it work? Do you just register this card number in the app?
