  • sweet just ordered 2! apple want $25 for these suckers!
    http://store.apple.com/au/product/MA591G/B?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&…

for those interested a little extra info… they are the long thin ones (iPhone, Nano, Touch, iPad compatible ones), not the 'Shuffle" ones.

  • +1

Wow what's so special that Apple want to charge $25 for USB cables?

    Geez Apple FTL….

    Good deal in this case.

  • +1

Damn it, where were you a week ago, I ordered 2 from Hong Kong :(

  • Read my post below. Same cable as the one DX sells, this is still cheaper, but quality isn't premium as claimed.

  • +1

just checked out website again, looks like people are trying to order in lots of 50, and seller is rightly knocking them back!

limit of 5 per customer should be noted in bargain. thanks again OP.

  • i have both plastic and rubber joint between the adaptor to the cord. i reckon plastic last longer than the plastic. i can see the cord coming out of the plastic joint right now. i also aware that the rubber joint will wear and tear over time due to the bending, who cares it is what apple design and cost me less than 2 bucks.

  • +2

    out of stock….

    • +1

Could they have really sold that quick or is it due to people ordering in too high lots?

    • -1

This one takes 2 weeks to deliver, but I feel the quality of it is quite good.
      $1 - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260654…
Only difference I can find is it's a plastic instead of a flimsy rubber sheath (original)
the [-] sign on the iPod connector is darker not a light gray, and the cable has
"Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China"

      • +1

And now they are back in stock, just ordered 3 successfully.

  • +1

I just bought 3, so they aren't out of stock.

  • +2

I think whats happening is people are still trying to order 50, and when the order goes through the seller is cancelling and placing the items back in stock. I reckon if youre interested you keep trying, because it's a damn good deal. Shame about the resellers wrecking things as usual :(.

  • +2

Hi theological, can you please confirm whether this cable works with iphone 4?

    • -1

      Lol, it should.

      • +2

Well my iphone 3GS cable doesnt work with iphone 4 so I dont know its just this cable or its the way iphone 4 works?

        • -1

Are u serious? Is yours a third party cable?
          Should work…

        • +1

No idea why that would be, the cables should work for iphone 4 the same… All my cables work on my iphone 3g and iphone 4

  • +2

just ordered - appears that orders are now limited to 4/customer

  • +2

Don't need one though great price. Only issue is that there's no stock :(

  • Hi Guys,

Let me apologize for the erratic nature of stock.
This deal was only meant for end users yet we had some businesses tried to purchase lots of 50 / 200.
I let a few of the early ones go through, but after the product description was edited to 5 per order all large orders where canceled and the inventory re-added for our end user customers.

In the process of packing all of today's orders now, any extra left over cables will be added to the store inventory again so keep a eye on it :). Will be limiting it to 2 cables per person from now on just to allow more people to get on this great deal.

    @pmmehta22

Im using one of these with my iPhone 4 to sync and also charge and it works perfectly!

    @4thchicken

Think you purchased the last 4 cables :).

If you've bought this deal / like it, show your appreciation :)

    • +2

Are your cables the plastic kind or rubber like the original cables?

      • Plastic, fake/3rd party ones are never rubber.
Thing is though, the rubber sheath around the original ones rip much easier than the plastic ones.

        • Yeah, mine's ripped so I need new ones. I would be buying one from one of the ebay sellers you recommended(:

          • @polkadots610: I don't know about "kangdigital", I'll post pictures as soon as I receive it, but yeah, "net-webweb"'s iPod cable is the one in my pictures as the "eBay" cable, expect it to be in your mail in two weeks (only way they can ship it internationally as "free" postage)

    • +2

Thanks, I missed it so could you please let us know once the left overs will be added to the stock.

  • +2

    Bugger, missed it too =/

  • +1

Missed this but a good deal.

  • +1

would be great if you let us know when they are available again

    • Just get this one for $1, but around 2 weeks for shipping:
      http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260654…
Look at my post below for images, it's cheaper, and I doubt hillsdistrict can get new stock and post it to you faster than getting it shipped to you in 10 days
I believe its better quality, read my post below for why, I'm also buying an iPod cable from a seller called "kangdigital" (also for $1, yes I'm a cheapass)
I'll post pictures as soon as I receive it and compare it to this.

  • +2

    Compare this
    http://hillsdistrictconsolemods.com.au/ProductPictures/Iphon…
    To
    http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks/browseCustomerPhotos.dx…

    These are BAD quality.
These are the exact same ones you get from DealExtreme. Yes they're cheaper than getting them from DealExtreme, but they are terrible quality, the plastic feels like its been made out of the cheapest plastic they can get, the one from DealExtreme that I have doesn't even work.

Where your original cables have a rubbery ring connecting the main cable to the USB jack, and the iPod side also has one, this cable does not.

It is NOT gold plated, it only looks like that because of the light, zoom in and you will see that the others in the background are not gold plated.
    MY photos for proof.

    Left - DealExtreme/HillsDistrict (My one doesn't work)
Middle - Original Apple Cable (still works but sheath is damaged hence unused)
Right - eBay $1 with free postage [http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260654686185&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT]

You can see that the DX iPod connector is onepiece where as the middle and right cables have flexible plastic shielding around the cable where it joins up to the fat iPod connector
    http://img580.imageshack.us/i/img5981r.jpg/
Also notice the left DX one, has white plastic in the jack, where as the other two are gray, compare to the hillsdistrict one and notice its also white.

    http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8408/img5978v.jpg
DX/Hillsdistrict one doesn't have "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China" where as the Original + eBay one does

    http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/5263/img5968.jpg
Notice how the DX/Hillsdistrict one on the left again is onepiece.
    The other two are not.

    • -2

      There's always the one, sigh
Not even going to bother replying to this apart from letting everyone know that if you are unhappy with the cable just send it back for a full refund :) - easy.

Worked overtime today to get ALL orders out.
Should be with most people within 2-3 days, I expect those who ordered from Perth/WA may take up to 5-7.

None are left over from this lot, if people are interested might get another lot in later.

Hope everyone enjoy this bargain, look forward to bringing you guys a few more in the near future.

      :)

    • +2

Can you explain what you mean by BAD quality?

I am interested to know the diff between the original one and the deal extreme one as i just ordered a few from dx

      Also whats the diff between
      http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34486
      and
      http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23525

      • +2

You'll see for yourself when you get sku.23525 from DX.
The plastic on the iPod connector and the USB connector, you can see that they are one piece because you can see and feel the lines where the two plastic halves join, theres some plastic sticking out from these lines (hence the conectors aren't smooth all around) The cable itself feels very hard and not flexible. The two-halves which make up the iPod connector feel very light (compared to the $1 one and the original cable) while the one I got from eBay and the original one is completely smooth.
I'm talking about this side, where the O represents the cable
        ._________
        (____O____)
p.s. the other side of the iPod adapter is ( ======== )
The DX one looks like this (——O——) where the —— are where the manufacturer of the crap cable has joined up the two halves to form the iPod adapter.

Here you can sort of see it,
        http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/3654/img5958.jpg
Note that the order JUST for this image is:
Top - DX Cable - notice to the right side, you can see ==-), crap joining of the plastic
        Middle - Ebay cable
        Bottom - Original cable

The Bad Quality thing I noticed most about it is it didn't fit easily at all into my iPod touch, I had to force mine into it, its.. too fat, as well as the 4 metal grips in the ( =====) of sku.23525 protruding [it does alot], unlike the working eBay cable [this one does very slightly] and Original cable.
        http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/3984/img5948.jpg
        Front on view:
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1821/img5958z.jpg - you can see it sticking out excessively

To answer your question about the DX items:
        http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23525
Compare the image provided by DX and the ones provided by customers - they're clearly not the same cable, the one in the DX image has gray connectors not white
See here, play spot the difference between what's white and gray ->
        http://img580.imageshack.us/i/img5981r.jpg/
Customer Image to back up my claim - http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks/browseCustomerPhotos.dx…
Note: Look closely at the USB jack (right side of it) side of the cable and you will also see the joining of the plastic.

From the customer pictures of http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34486
        Looks like the real deal.
If you compare the middle USB (My original Apple one)
        http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/5263/img5968.jpg
        To this image
        http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks/browseCustomerPhotos.dx…
You can see they're the same shade of grey on the USB indicator.

        Also: http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks/browseCustomerPhotos.dx…
The original cable is supposed to have a lighter shade of gray - which it does in the DX genuine cable.

I'm used to taking high-quality photos, after learning how to spot fake sennheiser cx300iis =]
Detail matters, its what gives away fakes (I know this is a 3rd party cable, I'm just sayin' I got skills to do it)

  • +5

i just want one to chuck in my bag so i can charge my fone at uni. cheapest fone charger ever.

  • Btw, this is the same cable.
You can get it yourself folks (I dont like its quality but thats up to you, for the same price I would go for the eBay one)
    For 93c each.

    Use coupon code: 10%eBay110
Use Recommender: nissius (nfi who it is, got it from google)

Obviously it will take much longer to ship (probably around 2 weeks)

  • Every time I've order cheap iPhone cables, they've all failed in early life. I haven't ordered from this company, but they're all the same. Just know you get what you pay for. That said, I'd rather order 20 of these cables than one of Apple's.

    • Try the one from Ebay, I already pasted the link several times

  • +1

i just bought one from ebay for $1 with free postage. i get it cheaper, get some feedback and dont have to sign up to a new website.

    LOL at hillsdistrict removing image.
    Coverup.

Edit: After this comment was posted, the image was put onto a different link, and an image was reinstated into their site.

  • I have ordered from dealextreme before, the white ones are TERRIBLE. The black ones are a little better BUT for both cables, they more than likely won't work for the PC - only works for charging dock.

If these are the same ones from DX I'm going to be very cut, and there is also a potential breach for misleading/deceptive behaviour under s52 of the TPA as well as the NSW Fair Trading Act.

    • +1

They look exactly like the ones from DX and I have no doubt they are the same

  • +2

omg, someone call ASIO or something… cwongtech and knightelf are having heart palpitations on a product they have never seen or tested, and are claiming coverups and sections of the trade practices act ;).

this cable was never quoted as genuine apple product, so I dont understand your thorough investigation?

take it easy fellas… it's a $1.49 cable. considering the original costs $25 plus shipping from apple, as one the customers thankful that I was able to get 2 of these cables and have them sent to me with free shipping, I'm not going to be crying for my $3 back if they dont last as long as the original (which is still yet to be seen).

cwongtech especially…. mate, the amount of crying you've been doing in this thread is funny as! get over it buddy. i know you are trying to look out for all of our interests, but seriously, take a chill pill. the OP took the time and effort to post this deal, and going by the fact that they are out of stock, a lot of people thought it was a pretty good deal. I feel sorry for the company to have to put up with this barrage on people reviewing a product they have never seen or tested for themselves.

if it's crap it's crap… for $1.49 its worth the risk imo. everyone with half a brain knows the old addage of "you get what you pay for". if anyone buying these cables thinks they are 100% apple perfect just like the original, well wake up to the world. but as a cheap replacement, whether I go with this deal or the hyjack deal you've posted within this deal, a difference of 49c isnt going to kill me when its already $24 cheaper.

just take it easy folks. OP and company are hardly going to want to post deals on this site again when arm chair critics take pot shots on product reliablity based purely on a picture.

and knightelf- for future reference, dont be quoting the trade practices act and NSW fair trading for a $1.49 product, and more specifically for someone who is obviously NOT breaching it! It makes you look silly :). no where did the OP or company say this product IS genuine apple product- so how is it deceptive of misleading? a clone is a clone, and if it doesnt work company offers a refund… which they dont even have to do! they can replace the item or repair it (at their convenience), which I'm sure you are aware of by quoting the relevant legislation. so goodluck prosecuting based on the notion that these 'may' be the same as DX.

finally, I have no affliation with this company whatsoever. Im just sick and tired of reading mindless and baseless complaints from people who arent appreciative of others posting valid deals on this website.

    • rant over, good afternoon! :)
    • Baseless?
I posted closeups (macro photos if you know what it means) and made references to the image provided by hillsdistrict.
Have you bothered to read my claims?
In the description Premium Quality Apple USB Data Cable - White
I'm a bit peeved off at the use of premium, I never was concerned whether it was a genuine apple cable or not, in fact, the eBay one I have with a plastic cable, I feel will last longer as the plastic doesn't feel as flimsy as the genuine iPod cable which has a rubber sheath.
PLEASE zoom in like I have told you to, you will see I have the same cable, do you want me to take pictures of the little plastic resealable bag with the grey cable tie?
      Crying?
Stop accusing me of being baseless and instead take the time to read
information that I have provided for ozbargainers, it's not called crying, it's presenting evidence. If you call it crying then apparently Lawyers cry alot in court?
$1.49 lota money, especially when you can get a decent cable from eBay for $1 AND be left with 49c
50 cent alota money, you save 50 cent here and then you save another 50 cent then you have one dollar. Then you go to the dollar store and buy something else

      • -1

dude, its not that I dont appreciate your efforts… really.

but I'd rather pay an extra 49c and deal with an Australian retailer, then save 49c and deal direct with a Hong Kong distributer.

    MOD: SOCKPUPPETED COMMENT. gunter=hillsdistrictconsolemods

Picked up a cable off harry yesterday when i went into drop off my xbox 360.
Cable works fine for charging / syncing with my Iphone 4, feels solid.
Not going to be towing a trailer using it so i don't really see it breaking easily in the future either.
For $1.49 I don't think you can go wrong either-way.

lol@cwongtech, you've got way to much time on your hands, you either need to find a job or a girlfriend. But either-way top comparison, you should try find a job in a forensics lab you've gotta a good eye for detail ;).

Hopefully these guys can give us some more bargains, Ive been eying those talismoon whisper xbox 360 fans for a while now hint hint.

    • Dude All I did was reupload the pictures I sent to Dealextreme to get my money back and write some comments about the product, is that so hard? I love it how hillsdistrict doesn't try to defend and just fobs me off as a mad hatter, removing the image so no one can see what I was talking about, then reinstating it after I posted they removed it.
      Pretty funny.
If you don't want others warning you you're spending money on junk cables that aren't premium quality then by all means I'll be quiet and let you people learn the hard way. Just make sure you guys post what you think of the cable when you receive it.

  • +1

Mod: hillsdistrictconsolemods = gunter, rep will not be able to post here, please contact the rep directly.

  • er lol. it seems everyone else is getting into this. As the OP I just wanted to say that I received mine today in the mail, so thumbs up as far as shipping goes… think how long an ebay cable would take to get here.

    • 8-10 business days.
I would rather save 49c, wait a little longer and have a better cable.
So, how's the cable quality? Is it premium as claimed? Or is it exactly as I describe it? In a plastic resealable bag where the bag's seal is red, with a transparent grey cable tie around the cable.
Feels cheap, has a white connector and not gray at the iPod adapter end (see above for what I mean), each end of the cable (iPod adapter and USB jack) looks like its two plastic moulded halves glued together, and some little plastic bits at the joints sticking out, no rubber bits joining the iPod adapter + USB jack end to the cable?
Good that the sockpuppeter has been kicked off the site, we can keep this civil now =]

Edit: Lol the site removed the product, now can anyone share their thoughts on their lovely premium cable?

      • +1

Yep, mines come too. All good.

Cwongtech youre assuming the item actually arrives from Hong Kong in the first place, AND not faulty. Dealing with an Australian retailer gives you assurances that they must follow our trade regulations. To me, that's worth 49c 'protection' ;).

Your description was accurate. In a red plastic bag and the cable itself is as you describe. Not exactly like original… but the thing is, it works. It does it's job I want and for all intensive purposes I'd describe it as a premium cable. To me a cheap nasty cable would be black and flimsy and not working right. This doesnt feel like that. The cable material itself feels identical to original. Yes the connecters at each end arent exactly the same as the Apple original, but if you didnt have the original right next to it you wouldnt notice- hence why I think 'premium' is still a fair description. You sound like you would have been to cheap computer fairs right? Well if you have, you would know what cheap and nasty looks like ;). But this isnt it (in my opinion anyway).

        • So it is the same cable.
Cwongtech youre assuming the item actually arrives from Hong Kong in the first place
No, I assumed hillsdistrict sourced these cables from HK (china actually cause it's cheaper) and was reselling them (which is obviously true)
I would've noticed it wasn't in anyway like an original cable straight away without an original cable, not saying it should.
The cable itself is alright, all 3rd party cables are plastic, there's no doubt about that, I just felt the quality of the plastic used to manufacture the cables (the ends of it I mean) caused some concern for the title of premium
I haven't been to cheap computer fairs (how about Shenzhen? They have high quality counterfeit everything, Fashion accessories and electronics), but I'm Chinese (well parents are) and China is where all the fakes are made, hence most of us have hawks' eyes when playing spot the difference between fake and real products (I know this wasn't claimed to be an apple genuine cable).
Most Asians like myself want the best quality stuff for the lowest price, and when it came to that cable that's been sold, 1.49 is 49% more for what I believe is a slightly inferior product when you can get a decent product that does the same job for cheaper.
We want the best bang for buck and I just got a little peeved when I had the same product (which mine is defective, on DX several forum posts also indicate they have the same prob as well) was being advertised as premium.
