Those light blue hands are awful. 'The Man with Elegance' would never wear this.

    • Thank you for your comment. I have edited the post, to 'for a casual night out'.

    • +2

I thought the light blue hands were the best part to be honest, something a bit different from the standard.

      • +1

I thought so too, but different people have different taste. You have good taste apparently.

Why do I get the feeling you can find the same thing on Aliexpress for $10 :v

  • $100 for a leather strap?

    • It is genuine leather, and it is crafted by a UK based company.

    • +1

This strap can be had for $100. More leather in it too! https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41YykaImm6L.SX355.jpg

      • That is a really nice leather strap. We get reduced prices from the company itself.

this is the company's website: https://www.lordtimepieces.com/products/solitude-black-blue-…
        thank you.

        • +1

          Is your backpack leather?

        • @Scab: Sadly it is not. It is made out of canvas.

        • @HyperKings:

Looks like it has mould on it.

        • @Scab: it just needs a good old hand washing.

        • @HyperKings:

What do you carry in it?

        • @Scab: Nothing much, just my water bottle, my books and my failures in life.

        • +1

          @HyperKings:

          failures in life

          That explains the mould.

        • @Scab: The mould feeds on failures. A special kind of mould. Normal mould remover just wont do.

looks like a copy of mvmt watches… which are like copies of aliexpress watches lol

    • Or did aliexpress copy these watches?

  • +1

This post is a play on words for sure.. the watch is USD120 with $30 OFF - why not lead with the PRICE in title?

    • Hi KevinFine, I have edited the post to show the price. We initially wanted to start off with the code offer reduction, so customers will input the code in during checkout.

      • Thanks

      • Hi KevinFine

        He's fine, isn't he?

        • maybe, but more of a fine kevin

    I'll just leave this here:

[Gents Timepieces] are not a watch company, they buy simple, cheap (and sometimes downright terrible looking) Chinese watches that you can get from AliX or even Amazon (see HERE for the exact same watch they call "The Gatsby") and sell them with enormous profit margins thanks to their corny fabricated backstory for each watch and the admittedly successful marketing campaigns on Instagram, Twitter etc. They seem to pop up everywhere all of a sudden, under various names: Lord Timepieces is another example, claims to be based in the UK.

Their watches are cheap Chinese brands like Winner, Jaragar, Forsining et al. that they give fancy model names (Gatsby, Aurelius, Da Vinci(!)) and then have some leading Instagram fashionistas pose with them (which works really well as far as marketing strategy goes).

Some models are all-right from what I can tell, but certainly not worth their asking price.

EDIT: I have nothing against the core part of their business — buying and re-selling Chinese watches for the western market — but it is their pricing, and most especially their marketing that annoys me, as they often give the impression they design and fabricate the watches themselves and they're doing the world a favor by offering their designs at such a "competitive" price.

    also this:

also this review of a mechanical watch (not so relevant to this watch, but doesn't inspire confidence - see the udpate):

I can't believe OP is putting up with all that flack haha.

    • XD haha

This is a basic quartz fashion watch that's made in china.

For this kind of money or less you can buy a watch from a reputable watch making brand like Seiko (Orient) Citizen, Casio or Timex.

All these overpriced Aliexpress watch sellers should have learned their lesson by now.

    Ozbargain will dismantle them.

  • after few hours… expired already, so it should be very good bargain then ;)

Negging because Associated OP charges fellow OzBargain members more than the Manufacturer's website …

    https://www.hyperkings.com/products/solitude-tan-leather?var…
    US$120.00 (= ~₤92.78 c/w Manufacturer's Website price ₤75.00) - US$30.00 code ozpricehike = $US90.00 = ~AU$118.30 Free Shipping
    https://www.lordtimepieces.com/products/solitude-black-blue-…
    GBP₤75.00 (comfortably below Associated OP's inflated ₤92.78) - 10% code AWATCH = GBP₤67.50 = ~AU$114.75 Free Shipping

… while after 12 hours still telling us nothing useful about the watch.

      Good shootin Tex.

Now [3] days since i've bought a watch.

      • +1

3 days? I'm trying to be strong by forcing myself to be fussier.

        • +1

Now [0] days since i've bought a watch.

Relax - nothing that threatens my solvency - a cheap Sinobi < $10 just to check it out.
I fear i'd lose whatever cred i have left if i said which one … bit of a joke buy…

        • @AngryChicken: Fair enough, they are usually great value. My wife liked that Claude Bernard, which arrived today. I got it brand new for $12.51 + postage!

        • +1

          @PJC: $12.51? Wot?

        • +1

@AngryChicken: Which Sinobi did you buy? I like some of their dive style watches.

The Sinobi 1132 is interesting, it was posted on the Aliexpress thread for $25.15 shipped
The only bad point is the bracelet can never be replaced as the lugs aren't standard.

          @WatchNerd:

I couldn't possibly say, but a rather disturbed friend of mine thinks the white in this sparkles

Some of those links on watchuseek don't seem to work for me, but i can see what you're looking at. Looks pretty damn good to me.

Oh, and Ladies of the bag attachment is the same as men of the tobacco and wine love.

          @PJC:

          Ah ha!
Well yes, if you know what you're doing, and have a little luck on your side, you can pull that kind of thing off. Same outfit are selling more at a considerably higher price. Amazing deal you got there it seems to me.

        • +2
        • +1

@AngryChicken: Yeah it does sparkle, lol.

Watchuseek doesn't allow direct links to Aliexpress, you can't even mention their name.
The links work after you click on them & fill in the missing letters to spell aliexpress.

        • @PJC:

That just prompted me to do a bunch of eBay auction searches on swiss watches.
Lots in India it would seem…

        • +2

@AngryChicken: Those India watches have carefully repainted dials. Whenever they show the interior, the movement usually says Swiss but never the Manufacturer's name because it is a "marriage".
