Are these keys likely to get cancelled in the future?

  • +9

Definitely not legit, cheaper from many sellers on ebay

  • Apparently windows 10 functions absolutely fine without activation, it just won't let you customise desktop or appearance.

If I wanted pirated software, I'd just download it, not pay a guy for it. Shame on you.

    • +6

This is different to piracy. Piracy is downloading a possibly modified ISO, maybe even a keygen. You don't know the origins of these things.

Key sellers on the other hand generally sell legit keys (eg. from Dreamspark) that you're just not supposed to sell. You then use them to activate official Microsoft installation media, which you donwload directly from Microsoft. I've been doing it to save money for years. Everything works fine, and I sleep fine.

      • These would be stolen keys more than likely…

Well, there is a Student version which is free for students in most of the Primary & High school, and to who ever has a DET email account, don't see the deal here.

And most university students too, almost a given if they use Office 365.

Office ProPlus can only be legally obtained in four ways:

    1. Via Volume Licensing
    2. Via Office 365 ProPlus, E3 or E5 plans
    3. Via the Home Use Program
    4. Via the Microsoft Action Pack

This falls into none of these. I therefore question the legitimacy of this.

  • It's also still free to upgrade to Win10, I did it last week from win 8.1 to win 10 pro creators.

    • How do you do it?
Will it work on Windows 7 as well?
      Thanks

I read this article that convinced me to try it:
        http://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-f…

Says if you have a valid registered/activated copy of win7 installed you should be able to upgrade it to win10.

Just follow the guide and go to the windows page and select upgrade and download/run the Media Creation Tool.

The main reason I upgraded was so I could play forza games in 4k (btw, it's pretty awesome!)

if these guys were operating in .au they would've been shutdown, prosecuted and fined. These are the same illegal activities Moonbox Software were engaging in, until they were dealt with and fined for approx $1M in our courts.

Its a shame giving these people the platform and the mic to conduct their criminal activity @Ozbargain! Its only making the crims richer, injecting their fortunes into more illegal sources and ventures.

  • Australian students always get free windows and office via edu download.

  • I bought windows 10 pro from these guys back in May and called Microsoft recently who advised that the licence was a legit retail copy which had been activated 3 times since I activated it. The keys are legit but Microsoft will cancel them in time when they discover they aren't being used as per the license agreement. My copy had been activated 3 times in 2 weeks which I'm sure Microsoft will work out something isn't right.

  • both of those are free for .edu.au
win10edu is actually free for .edu.au which is better than pro because it has less junk
