Hey guys, came upon this while looking for headlights for the missus's car (6R Polo), not quite sure why or for how long it is for. My first time posting so please let me know if I've done it wrong.

Buying Phillips X-treme Vision +130% https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/philips-xtreme-vision-…

A light joke :P
A photon checks into a hotel.
Receptionist: "May I take your bags sir?"
Photon: "I don't have any bags, I'm travelling light."

  • I have bought from them before, no issues.

Consider stripping the "/au" from the URL to pay in British Pounds, which can save you a few % if your card does not charge fees

At the moment the difference is not as big, but a few months ago I saved about 15% that way due to their site using horrible conversion rates.

Seems 20% is the norm, when one code ends there's another straight away.
I bought some lights a couple of weeks ago using a different code they were promoting which was 20% off too, they just arrived today.

Payed in GBP using the 28 Degrees exchange rate to save a few extra dollars too.

  • They always seem to have a 20% deal to be honest but occasionally 30%.

Very cheap for excellent product anyway, used for years.

My latest order somehow got "lost in the post" but they replaced without question and sent a tracked delivery which made it through fine.

The GBP trick is sometimes valid as well. I still have a UK bank account so it's easy to pay in GBP but have delivered here.

  • Thanks Op (for the 'light' joke).

    • My pleasure. It's Friday, so feeling quite light.

  • is it easy to change a light bulb ? how much do service station charge for changing a pair of light buib ? I have a toyota yaris, but always find that the light is quite dim.

    • Try youtube, read your owners manual etc?

      • had a quick look at youtube, and it seems complicated - one guy seems to take the entire headlight out. might need to download the owner manual since my car is > 10 years old.

It will depend on your car. Older cars are normally easier when it comes to bulb changes. Typically the first time you change the bulbs it may take a little bit longer…there could be visibility issues, or limited space. But once you know where everything is it can be/is easy.
I have a 10 year old Honda Accord Euro and it takes a few minutes to change the bulb on each side. The main issue I have is getting my hands to fit into the space I need to place in the new bulbs.

    • Generally there's a plastic screw on cap at the back of the assembly that keeps water out. Then there's some spring clip that holds the bulb in the right orientation and at the right focal point. Then you pull out the bulb in its socket, and unplug the bulb.

If it's a halogen bulb, don't touch it with your fingers. The oil from your skin will get hot the next time the bulb is used, and darken and/or weaken the bulb. If you do touch it, wipe it clean well.

If it's a compact car and space is a premium, you may have to remove the whole light assembly.

If your car manufacturer is kind, the whole process is not arduous, and takes about five minutes the first time and two the second.

    • It's Japanese. Should be able to pop the bonnet, unscrew a the dust cap, unclip the locking pins, unplug the light and remove the light.

I have a French car. I have to remove the front bumper then remove the headlight assembly to replace the lights. Seriously.

Thanks. Am planning to change two cars over to using cooler lights, so that it doesn't look so ugly with the LED light bar

Search only gives i30 models up to 2010… they must have stop using lights after that.

    • Agreed. Same problem with Mazda. Only seem to sell for older (over 7 years old) cars.

  • Code disabled.

    • Go to the site, there's always a discount code listed in the banner.

      Currently ACE20.
