  • Is this hard wired?

    • +1

Yes, you should use a registered electrician to install.

      Have updated post, thanks.

Seriously, neg vote as it needs an electrician. The same deal from Bunnings had 43 votes and no negs as you had to use an electrician. Might want to check the rules for negging a post.

        • +1

Get the electrician at your local pub to put a plug on it for a jug lol…

        • So at least another $100 on top

No, Broden will come out to your place and fit it for free.

And Broden is Ozbargain certified so you know he'll do a good job.

Been thinking of getting a few(2-3) of these installed around the house. Do you know how much an electrician will charge?

        • $40 for each point, more if you need less points

        • @raj76:
That seems a little low, considering they need to drill holes for wiring and mounting, run cable, terminate etc. That price is about right if it's a switch over with an existing light

    • I have no idea if its considered "legal"

but I just got my security light and an extension cable and handed it to an electrician and in a few minutes it was able be plugged into a socket.

  • i already have an outside sensor light installed, could this still be worth it for the led bulbs alone at 1800 lumen for $12.50 each?

    • +1

No the bulbs are 1800 lumens total - so 900 lumens each…not amazing.

I've been impressed with this Mirabella LED:
      http://www.kmart.com.au/product/mirabella-13w-led-par-28-flo…

      1350 lumens and 13 watts.

      It's reasonable brightness!

I like how it replicates a Par38 globe and not some bluish white light most LED floodlights are

      • +2

I have 2 of the ones from Bunnings and they're only 800 lumens each, but are super bright and light up the area really well.

        • Yeh, I got these also. Been going strong for 18+ mnths

      • +1

thanks for the recommendation, I'm keen to replace my power hungry halogens with LEDs

    • +1

it surely cheaper than just buying the LED bulbs at Bunnings

    • the bulbs are very 'glary' and focused. If you live in a place with cathedral ceilings you might get away with it, but not the average home

  • +4

    does it contain lead?

    • +3

Try not to lick it and you'll be fine.

    • +3

      Nah, just LED

    • Yes the package contains lead with AU plug…. Not… :p

Thanks Rocket…Missed the sensor light when I first read the catalogue…my attention was quickly drawn to the cable ties! https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-15-…

It's good product but the plastic sensor cover deteriorates after a few years then you need to replace the whole unit.

  • They had a better, solar powered one a few weeks back.

  • Will check it out this Saturday. Thanks OP.

  • Similar to the previous question about already having outdoor lights, are these bulbs basically "standard outdoor" globes? Both our outdoor lights have died recently; one we put a temp standard screw globe in with the rubber protector thingy for a stop gap, but this seems like a good price to fix both just for the globes, if they compatible - even if they aren't the brightest they will do for our purpose.

  • Anyone have an image of the wiring inside before I get the sparky around? 1 cable is out of where it should be. Otherwise will neet to return.
