It's been the same price for months. I think this is actually the standard price for this plan.

    • dang… could've saved a couple of bucks =(

Been with Telechoice for more than a year now. Good customer service and of course it IS the Telstra network. Very happy Jan .. :-) .. !!

    • +1

it IS part of the Telstra network

      fixed it for you.

huh when i took that 29$ plan they said it was only Christmas 2016 promo.
    but yeah, 5.5gb is good.
i just wish they have full telstra like boost.
normally i am against mobile plan, but they are good company. and it was one year anyway.

    • Can someone confirm whether Telechoice or Boost use the full Telstra NextG 3G/4G ( full use of all 850mHz 3G towers in rural and regional areas as well as no data speed throttling ), and maybe provide a link with back up legit info?

      • only boost use full. so boost = telstra.
        others, part.
no need to prove, majority people knows.

        • Thanks, was not specifically questioning you, just like to get up to date correct info.
What I thought way back when they started, although 100% correct info was always hard to pin down. I used them from the beginning, but not for a while now. Lot's of comments from people saying different things.

Would not be the first time a company changes it's business model ( especially Telstra ).

Been told by Telstra staffthat Telstra has a hierachy between Business contracts, Personal contracts, Prepaid, Boost then other re-sellers as to call and data preferances, not sure if true, but would make sense.

I live in semi rural/hilly area, Boost feels same as Prepaid Telstra, Lycamobile and Woolworths not as good.

  • Unless you need Telstra, it's actually quite expensive. Kogan with their 365 day plans work out to around $22/month with 10gb data. Much better value proposition but on Vodafone network. Unless you are in regional side, Metro coverage is ample.

Also it includes international calls, which we us.

Afaik no other company has a better deal than Telechoice as far as international call inclusion.

      • +1

which one incl international? tele? this 29$ with 5.5gb plan is not incl i have it

        • Correct, I meant Telechoices 2gb and 3gb plans have international calls included.

    • Kogan's deal is a bargain, however it seems like to sign up to kogan it requires extra steps and I heard that kogan's customer service isn't really good.

That's like saying "That's a good deal for steak, but you can get porridge for much cheaper".

Depends.. Do you want to fill your stomach with food or expensive food?

I recontracted 2 services on this plan and asked for them to apply the student rate of $26.10.
This was agreed without fuss via live chat, even though I am not a student.

The only hesitation I have is that these guys are hopeless for global roaming. They charge a big deposit, and twice I have had to contact support to get roaming properly enabled at the start of my holiday, meaning no roaming for a few days.

    • How do you get the student rate? Is there a number link or are there any details about student discounts?

      • The student plans are listed on the website. I asked to recontract both services to plan: 202575 and they just went ahead.

  • You can get up to 7GB with Boost (3GB anytime + 1GB each weekend) for $30 (28 days though)

Does Telechoice use Telstra 4G or 3G?

    • 4G with strong signal reception

    • They both use 3G and 4G, but it's not as simple as that lol. Most Telstra re-sellers only use part of Telstra's 850mHz 3G towers ( mainly in regional and rural areas, but often makes difference between any signal or Not ), as well as limited max 4G data speeds too.

laga234 , Been With Telechoice since September 2016. Great service. On the old 3.5GB $29 12 Month plan. Looking forward to going on the 5.5GB plan when I recontract. Very Happy.

You should talk to them and ask them to upgrade you to 5.5GB 29$ plan as you are paying same money. they should do it. I had done similar with dodo.

    • +1

I don't think this particular plan is available by doing a rate plan change, which keeps the same contract end date.
If my memory is correct, it's only available by recontracting for another 12 months (you can do this even if you haven't finished the old contract). I used to work for a Telechoice store.

      • They wouldn't let me change my wife's plan because she still had two months left on her contract.

        • Should have been fine if the new requested plan is the same/higher price.

        • @quitram: It was from the $28 plan to this $29 plan. They originally said they'd do it, then changed their mind. Not a big deal though, I'll look at options again in August.

        • +1

@macrocephalic: Oh that's unfortunate, because they should have done it for you. If it happens again in the future, you can write and request for an upgrade via the Members Area on the website.

  • Any international minutes

  • Coverage wise, I haven't been anywhere that only offers me emergency calls only since I have been with Telechoice. But my phone doesn't have b28 so maybe there are places where I see no coverage that might have b28 coverage that could potentially be Telstra/Boost only.
My daughter and spouse have Telechoice on iPhones and haven't mentioned hitting any gaps.
For context, we live on the metro fringe and go camping a fair bit so have experience in regional areas, but rarely rural/remote.
