Wow, i got one in my cart. Then nothing.

  • +3

Well no more reason for me to look at COTD anymore, time to go back to my normal life.

    • Oh I (think I) get it!

  • +2

It's sad because half of you are just going to eBay it.

    • I really wanted it for my cousin overseas :O

      PS3 there is still $1000

  • Sigh…

It was in my cart, I was in paypal and error.

1 min later I found out that it's gone.

  • Its one thing to 'get one' - its another to then go through the shopping cart and successfully buy the item… would love to know how many they had at that price - I'm thinking 1 or maybe 2 if we're lucky.

Interesting they've removed the scroller that usually says who has purchased what recently.

    • Wish we had a picture of their stock levels in the warehouse so we can see the 5 x PS3 boxes

      • and you wan't to make sure they are not empty boxes!

  • friggin stupid website!
still can't even load the main page!
    %^&^%##%&@^$&(*#

  • PS3 :( Sold out quick….

  • I wonder how many they actually had in stock?

  • +2

I still have one in my cart.

I can see it taunting me.

  • I got myself the PS3. Somehow fluked it. Guys around me at work couldn't get on.

  • +1
    • +3

A cat was seen near the 0 key before that tweet was posted

    • Holy crap 2000 wtf. 2000 sold out in 50 secs… 40 sold per second!!

No way.. I really don't know if that's believable.

      • I agree. Would surprise me if they had 2000 units. Entire promo is a load of crap.

  • +1

Servers are crap… by the time the page loads it is sold out… clicking refresh, etc does nothing… pisses me off that they run a promo like this but have no capacity whatsoever to at least make it fair for everyone.

  • sadface, I waited all day and of course they have what I wanted while I was driving home UGH!!

EDIT: I even managed to open the page on my iphone and clicked 'Bite Me' but no good.. bad reception lol

    • same

  • I dont know why I even bothered to check COTD! I logged onto website at exactly 5pm couldnt access server till 5:08 and guess what! All PS3's sold out!

  • Damnit! I had a PS3, went through all of the paypal stuff, and only had to confirm the order with one more click then Opera crashed for the first time in a very, very long time! So annoyed right about now :(

  • I reckon it was a big lie. they probably had 10 PS3z. If they really wanted every1 to get the deal they would have had more PS3. The PS3 was just a way to get every1z attention. well todays catch of the day is all of us. and the bait was the PS3

  • are we able to set up a poll or something to see if there is anybody out there who got one of the decent items?

    • the problems is we dont know if it COTD add that they got items.

      • true. im seeing a lot of first time posters

      • true. ive just never seen someone say that they actually got something. but your right it is open to exploitation.

    • wow only if I wanted one :-(

      RRP$199! Today just $129! Insane!

    • I swear it was supposed to be $129!!

  • I'm already through checkout but seriously? 149? wasnt it 129?

    • I got to checkout just to see if I could, but realised I don't want one so I cancelled it :P
If only I had this luck an hour earlier.

  • The New iPod Nano Multi-Touch 8GB
    RRP$199! Today just $129! Insane!

    $149.00

    $129 = $149 + postage?
    postage is $-20?

  • wasnt it suppose to be $129?

  • Still quite expensive for an mp3 player that doesn't support videos… but hell, it's an Apple product. I'm still buying one.

  • +1

Got one added to the cart.. not going to bother though, it's $199 on the apple au store

    • and you can pick your colour.

    • Same, also the $129/$149 thing was a turn-off.

  • +1

on the upside the site is loading nice and fast now the ps3 is gone :)

  • Got 2 in my cart but $149? It said $129 on the front page!!!

    QQQ try explaining this one.

    • +1

  • Don't worry about the price hike! Its sold out

  • Does anyone actually got one of these products?

  • I can't even get into the website. FKN crash

  • +1

I was at uni at 4:16. I decided to go home because I thought the deal at 5pm might not be ps3. I should have stayed there and waited for the deal :(

  • +1

When I finally didn't get the 'Sorry, our servers are full' message, I see the sold out sign.
Their servers really are junk! :D

But just out of curiousity, to the people who could see it when it was in stock, what ISP are you with?

    • I'm with iinet in Western Syd

    • I managed to see the iPod Nano, and I'm with TPG. Didn't manage to see the PS3 though.

  • On the top header bar thing it says $129, as does their blog post.
So I'd assume some difference-refunds are in order.

  • "limited to 5 per customer"?

That's what it said at checkout.

    • funny how every other "huge" deal was limit 1 per customer

  • iPod Nano Multi-Touch 8GB sold out !

  • +2

    Note posted on the page

    Please Note:

Some customers may have been charged an incorrect price of $149, the correct price is $129, all affected members will be refunded the difference ($20) in the next 36 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  • Damn would have bought it if I new they would have refunded the difference :'(

    • THIS! I had it ready to confirm order but declined to checkout because of the price kerfuffle.

    • Same!

  • -1

I have managed to checkout successfully with todays PS3 deal
    Made payment through paypal
GUESS WHAT - the confirmation page was hung and didn’t respond
Payment hasn’t been deducted from my paypal

And as usual - the item is sold in 3 mins
    So lost my $199 PS3
Have lodged official complaint to COTD and Paypal

COTD should stand for “Culprit O*** Thug Dodgy”

(You can make a meaning for O****)

    • They will not bother to reply to you.

I sent an email last time with the Wii and even showing a screenshot that I had in the cart and only had to click confirm order then site crashed.

They did not even bother to reply.

      • Yeah I know they won't (QQQ if you read this - please respond)
Though I managed to checkout from COTD site and paid through paypal but the money didn't transferred…
        Lets see whats Paypals response

    • I guess you didn't read this part of their blog:

"Every now and then we decide to throw caution to the wind and test Australia's internet infrastructure to its fullest extent."

"Please note: Even though we will be having a total of 6000 items available for sale on the day, at the prices we'll be featuring we expect a lot of pushing and shoving and whining on online forums. If you miss out on the day - better luck next time. If you score one of the insane bargains, well done - you will be one of 6000 others. But hey, if you think that a few server crashes, a bit of anticipation and click spam is too much excitement, give this one a miss - we'll see you on Wednesday for the CatchAThon instead!"

BTW I can't think of any swear words starting with O.

  • +1

Don't you just love when people don't check for typos in their images lol.. the Catch a thon image says it's coming up at "Wednesay Midday". As you can see I'm trying to keep myself entertained here lol..

  • Wow, why are GHD's so expensive in Oz?

Checked out a post on a UK site:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=35079969…

The error with the ipod nano at 6pm AEST is no a server overload issue. It's just blatant misleading and/or deceptive conduct. It is a clear breach of section 52 of the Trade Practices Act and equivalent sections of each State's Fair Trading Act.

It is misleading and/or deceptive conduct by advertising the iPod Nano for a price of $129 for the past week and up to 6pm AEST today, and then when it reaches 6pm AEST today, it is shown as $149 on the front page and on the page that requires payment. Due to this, alot of people have suffered the loss of opportunity to purchase the iPod Nano at the price of $129. Relevantly:

    • this is a website that demands speed in ordering products. Due to the error, the public's ability to purchase the Nano in time was detrimentally affected due to the confusion caused. The confusion required me to check the price, check if there is an error, which costed me valuable seconds and therefore the loss of opportunity to purchase it.

    • misleading and deceptive conduct does NOT require an intention to mislead or deceive. Accidental or innocent errors can still be misleading or deceptive. All that is required, is to show objectively, that members of a relevant class (i.e. traffic going to Catch of the Day) were misled or deceived, or LIKELY to be misled or deceived. Clearly we have been here!

    • it is irrelevant if Catch of the Day has no remaining stock. That is totally irrelevant.

    • Catch of the Day's subsequent 'correction' and explanatory note does not alleviate the breach whatsoever. This does NOT absolve the fact that their conduct was misleading and/or deceptive. If anything, it merely shows an admission of the fact that they did mislead or deceive.

    This is outrageous.

iPhone cases "limited to 1 per customer" ….. iPod Nano "limited to 5 per customer" …. go figure?!!

    • They clearly had 5 times more nanos than iphone cases…. NOT

    • You can even have '100' per customer for the nano - no one was ever going to get one!

    • you can fit 5 nanos in an iphone case!

  • Sony Cyber-shot DSCW310 $49 + $6.95 shipping, 10MP, 3x optical zoom

    • sold out

I hope the 10 or so people are happy with there new camera

    • With 10 megapixels and 3x optical zoom, this Sony CyberShot digital camera features SteadyShot image stabilisation and an intelligent auto function, as well as face detection and a 2.5” display screen.

      •12.1 megapixels
      •4x optical zoom
      •2.7" LCD screen
      •Intelligent Auto
      •Face Detection

They couldn't get their facts straight anyway

      • +1

once again, I find it very hard to understand how they can stuff up so many times

  • And sold out in a minute? Maybe less. That's ridiculous

  • Sold out. And it's only 8.01 by the clock…

    • that actually is unbelievable - i went through standard checkout for the lols and i came out of the sign in page with a sold out screen

  • 90 seconds for Sony digital camera to be sold out..
how many do they have actually..

    • +1

on the plus side, the server seems to be quicker…..everyone has given up! Sensible people.

  • +2

f*!%^ thats crap… was 8:00 and i was in the paypal checkout thing for the camera… logged in, hit continue and it just sits there loading

so i refresh cotd site and its sold out

    BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    • same!

      • Ditto.

  • so bullcrap… if they dont have enough to go around they shouldn't even advertise em for sale imo ;(

  • There's nothing good to buy now. TV, PS3, iPod, Styler and camera were the main highlights of the day.

    • TV did not sell that well and was not that good a price.
PS3 did well and the site went down and was sold fast.
Ipod, that had the wrong price you get what ever colour they want/have.
Styler still having site trouble and sold average but I that there was only a small market for that
Camera was not the right info again and sold in under a minute and there was no choice for colour.

      • A handful of winners and all the rest were losers - not sure who Catch is trying to win over here?

        • stats to stay on top

  • Reckon lolli pops next!!!
