Recontracted to this deal and got it for $30 per month :p.no charges as well. The ref also offered me a better deal - $30 per month between two sims and 30gbs share.

    • How on earth did you get that?

      • I'm currently on the 45bux a month 12 month plan with 12gb data and paying $31 per month (student and optus internet bundle discount). I asked the optus rep if they can upgrade me and give me 10 bux discount and they agreed :). You just need to negotiate well.

        • You sure got 30GB's though. Sounds ridiculous lol!

        • Gave it a try. Only permitting me the student discount which sucks. Did you call up or go through chat? I went through chat.

        • @R3XNebular:
Yep I got 30gb to share between two sims only for $30. I had to go through 4 ppl until I got someone to offer me that. Just keep trying lol. Went through live chat

        • @N21212:

Hmm stopped at the first person lol. Have you got your first bill yet?

        • @R3XNebular: I got that offer too. You have to take up 2 services for 25% off.

        • @Johnster:
So $30 per sim? So total of $60 per month for two Sims with 30gb shared?

        • +1

@R3XNebular: Believe so. No way $30 for 2 SIMs. Optus will go broke.

        • @Johnster: 30 gb is active on my account now, and the confirmed that it's $30 between two sims for 30gb

        • @N21212:
Do you have a chat reference number I could use?

        • @N21212: Can you double-confirm? Any screenshot? :O
Be sure to censor the sensitive details

    • I work for Optus Retail and I am pretty sure, you may have misunderstood what the online chat guy said. What the online chat guy has done is changed your plan to the 15GB for $40 and kept your $10 broadband discount bringing it down to $30. Then they have sold you another $40 15GB plan for $30 (25% off) thus the 2nd sim. The 25% offer Optus is running is not advertised and is supposed to be only known for Optus staff as an under the table offer. To get the 25% off you need to have one existing postpaid service, and add another new postpaid service to the same account. The new number will get 25% off. Another thing most old discount like the $10 broadband discount are removed automatically when you make changes to your plan, they sometime stay, its a 50/50. Wait till your next bill and please let us know how it goes, as working at Optus even I can't get two sims for $30, so yeah

Hi Rep. Seeing as you're answering heaps of questions I was wondering if the Mobile Broadband SIM would be considered in the 25% off under the table offer?

        • +1

Unfortunately not, only mobile sim plans or mobile phone plans that have calls included are eligible.

Data sim plans also known as mobile broadband sim, tablets, etc are not eligible for this offer

  • I'm on Optus prepaid can I get this?

    • +1

Yes, you can sign up - tick the box which says 'move from Optus prepaid' when signing up online

  • how do I recontract to this deal???, my plan doesn't expire till mid november, currently paying $44/month same deal..

    • Try your luck with live chat or give them a call, some have reported getting early cancellation fees waived. If one rep won't waive the fees try again later with another rep.

  • Just got my $40 8GB Plan changed to this one with my cancellation fee waived. The first one I talked to told me that the fee was $24.98 to cancel the fee and recontract. The second time, I made sure to say that "I will not proceed with the plan if there is a fee associated with it". It all went well and my plan has been changed.

  • Thanks a lot.
    I have 2x $40 10gb plans with a few months left.
Upgraded both online, no fee. Now me and the Mrs pool 30gb, unli calls each for $79 a month. Laughin…

    • U could have got it for $30 a month lol

      • How?

      • No you can't get it for $30. The 25% offer Optus is running is not advertised and is supposed to be only known for Optus staff as an under the table offer. To get the 25% off you need to have one existing postpaid service, and add another new postpaid service to the same account. The new number will get 25% off. In @Awsam case, they are both existing services so the discount doesn't apply to him.

        • True, got offered 25% off a additional service.

I only wanted 25% off this plan.

  • Can someone clarify if this tops up on the first of every month then? I recall Optus SIM only plans being 28 days, so that's 13 plans over a year and due to that timing it wouldn't be the first of every month.

I looked at the critical information summary doc but it just says 15gb a month, unlimited calls etc. etc..

    Thanks

    • Optus prepaid is 28 days. This is a postpaid plan and the $40 covers you for the entire month. Billing cycle depends on the day you sign up. Remember you will get a bill every month, you don't top this service up like prepaid.

      • Hi Mr landrover, what is your friendly advice?

I have a family of 4 and we need unlimited national calls and text (international not necessary but can be handy for us). We also like to watch videos on the go and streaming.

What is your recommendation from Optus pre/postpaid or is it wise to hop onto the Vodafone deal which is offering prepaid $20 which is $40 value (so half price) expiry is 35 days??

        Please answer. TIA

        • @steveclassy2, what you can do is get 4 x $40 15GB sims, and take advantage of the 2nd service 25% offer. How it will work is first sim will be full price at $40, the other 3 will be $30 each after the 25% discount is applied. So you total monthly cost will be 40 + 30 + 30 + 30 = $130 a month and you will get 60GB to share with unlimited calls. If you don't like contracts, then prepaid plans are the way to go, prices as on Optus website. Prepaids are 28 day cycle and no data sharing between families.

  • I am using Amaysim which is on Optus 4G network. Would the connectivity be the same if I use Optus directly? Thanks.

    • Yep same network, you want notice any differences in coverage. However, the added benefits of going directly with Optus is you get wifi calling and 4G VOLTE support for your phone.

      • Question. Wanting to get this for $30 and my girlfriend is with optus. Any way to get this and keep my number under my name?

        • Sorry can't keep the number under your name. The number will have to be under your girlfriends name and on the same account, so the data will be shared. No way around this.

        • @landroverz7: thanks for the reply! Might just have to take the hit for $40. Still a good deal.

        • @landroverz7:
Hi. So what is the benefits of having the number in own's name? I know if 2 numbers in same account can do data sharing.

        • @bbworm: There are no benefits of keeping numbers under one name. Having 2 or more number under one person and account allows for data sharing.

        • Actually, there could be a benefit to having the number under your own name…

I'm pretty sure Sweaty-penguin would benefit from keeping the number, if the unthinkable happened, and the girlfriend moved on ;-)

        • @landroverz7:
They need the other number to be under my name first, then i can port to optus under my acccount to enjoy 25% off. So i need to change the name of the 2nd service first. Is that true?

        • @bbworm: Yes thats right, the other number you are bringing to you must be owned by you, so in your name. So quickly do a change of ownership for that number into your name and then port it to Optus to get 25% off. In store they will do it as long as the current owner of the number and you are both present with I.D. but you will only get 12GB for $40, sorry $30 after the 25% discount. In store can do 25% offer, but not 15GB only 12GB.

        • @landroverz7:
In store seems easier. As long as we can share the 15+12gb, it should be enough. I dont know how long the name change takes… Will they give me the 2nd new sim card instore?

        • @bbworm: Yes, they will give you the 2nd new sim in store. If you can't take the other person in store with you, just tell the account number of the other sim and pretend its in your name ;) I really shouldn't be telling these trade secrets haha

        • @landroverz7:
          Thanks for your help!
Could i add the 2nd service online while changing the other account name? It takes a few days…

        • @bbworm:
Then at least they can send me the sim card first. Can i wait until the name is changed to activate the sim card?

        • @bbworm: No you will probably have to wait till the name change is complete, to order online. This deal is until 31st July so you still have time. Also by doing it only you get the full 15GB. So I would recommend that.

        • @landroverz7:
One last question, can i buy a $2 sim to use and not wait for the posted sim? Can porting be done/activated on weekend? Thanks

        • +1

@bbworm: Prepaid sims and postpaid sims are different. The $2 prepaid sim won't work, just go to a store and ask for a postpaid sim replacement SIM card and tell them you will do it online later, there is no charge for it. Also porting works everyday except Sunday.

  • I recontracted yesterday from 10gb. Check my app morning it says 25gb.

    • The app will show both the old plan and new plan data combined until your next billing cycle, where it will reset and show 15GB. Until then just ignore what the app shows and use upto 15GB.

      • Hi Landroverz7, thanks for all your input and I just ported my vodafone number to optus so i can get 25% off (wife with optus already under my name). however i've been told the 25% discount is only for 12 months, can you please clarify this?

        • +2

Yes the discount is only for the life of the contract, so for SIM plans its 12 months, for mobile phone plans its 24 Months. Anyways after 12 months you will be out of contract and best to shop around what the deals are on then. Most likely the normal price for 15GB will be $30 a month, 12 months from now anyways.

  • Hi landroverz, does this plan offer free streaming when using fetchTV on mobile?

  • Webpage now saying offer expires 4/8! Might sign up to this tomorrow so I can opt out of all that marketing crap of theirs on that other thread that starts tomorrow.

  • I am confused, someone here said that the free Optus Sports should still continue for those signed up last year to the $40/month 10GB plan? But I contacted Live Chat twice and they said that it is only for 2016/2017 season.

So who is speaking the truth? This month I also start noticing they start charging me for Optus Sport but they gave half back as 'discount'? Could this be because EPL only start mid-Aug?

    • Mine started charging but based on comments here it seems that other people's free EPL has rolled forward

      • I think they will start charging now. Unless you signed up for a new contract. That is what I understood.

Time to switch provider I guess, until Optus confirm the $40 still comes with EPL.

  • Is this offer available in store?

I have done two orders, one went through and the other I received a temporary order number and haven't heard from Optus since.

  • +1

Optus has no customer loyalty and just offer you what's on the website.
They just want more business to get their numbers up.
Got offered 25% off a additional service last night but could do anything for me to upgrade to this plan.
