WD 4TB My Book External HD $139 @ Officeworks Cairns QLD (Possibly Elsewhere?)

160

Typical Officeworks. Walked in to print a 25c photo, dropped $139 on a HD.

I believe this is USB 3.0 but not USB c compatible, still a great price for a 4tb HD though. Nothing on the website as far as I can see. And no, I've got no idea what HD is inside :-) Happy hunting.

Which code should I annoy them on the phone with?

      WDMB4000GB

      • Thanks. Maybe you could do an Officeworks Price Tag wiki 🥇

  • Maybe someone can chime in and tell me what model HDD it has inside. Is it as good as a WD Black 7200rpm?

    • I'd take an educated guess and say it would be a WD green under the hood.

    • Just got one and shucked it, Its got a WD blue WD40EZRZ drive. Only 5400RPM but good enough for movies, music and documents.

These drives retail at $189+shipping on PCCG so good score.

  • Good luck finding stock in Sydney. I rang 4 OW nearby without luck. They told me this is old stock so it not easy to find…

tried my luck and brought the last one in wentworthville :) :) last one though!

  • Okay is this cheap?

the one ship from amazon is cheaper so this is as cheap as you can get in localised warranty, better with Australian consumer law and pay fair share of 'never ever' GST to the government lol

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/318538 only cheaper with 28 degree card and dont forgot the 2.5 or so fees charge by the card

      • You're comparing a Seagate to a Western Digital here.

        • this one is nearly 3 year old! WD that is latest seagate, i guess cancels out right lol

        • @jackau:

Yeah it's a good deal on the Seagate. There's no local warranty although on the purchase from Amazon, just to factor that into the equation.

I'm not buying another Seagate desktop external drive myself though, the last one a Seagate Expansion 4TB was DOA. Makes me wonder about their QA.

    • Hey thanks for the info. Might be a bit too slow as I edit videos but thanks for the heads up.
