Sunbeam EM7000 Coffee Machine for $399 (RRP $849) at JB Hi Fi (in Store Only)

731

Part of the 20% off Wednesday. I can't find the EM7000 on their website, but in-store they have it on catalogue price of $599, but somehow with the 20% discount, the system will bring it down to $399. Absolute bargain.

Edit: I forgot to apply the 5% coupon - that should bring it down further!

Bought the EM6910 for $400 about 2 years ago and cannot say 1 thing negative about it. This is obviously a step up from 6910 and at this price should be at the top of your list if anyone is after a decent coffee machine without spending a fortune.

    • +1

True, I just made a very decent cuppa with my new EM7000. It's going to take a little practice to get perfect though!

      • +1

Nothing quite like a perfect cup of coffee as soon as you wake up in the morning. I personally find that the A2 milk from Aldi is your best bet if you drink coffees with milk in it :)

        • +2

Haven't tried the Aldi A2 milk - but will now! Best coffee I've made was using the expensive Maleny Dairies full-cream milk. Yum!

        • @StingyBritches: I used Maleny milk for the last two weeks. Mind blown!

      • Yep! I have one of these and it took nearly a month of experimentation with grinds - and holding my tongue in the correct manner - to get it all okay. I now get a consistent cup'o'joe every time! Just make sure you keep the cleaning/maintenance up to it.

    • I got a 6910 for 25$ off gumtree. Needed a $3 relay and i used it at work for a year then sold it for $100. Ironically my four year old ecm technically profi with rotary pump is waiting for a relay ATM. Macd coffee sucks

for what its worth the Breville BES870 is on sale there too for $598, its pretty bloody good too, having an inbuilt conical grinder is quite a bonus if you cant afford the benchtop realestate a seperate grinder takes up!

    • I bought one last week from myer ebay for $600, but could've saved another $40 or so on this deal as we get 7.5% off at JB through work. Also would much rather silver colour than the red which myer was offering… oh well :'(

That said love the machine. I very much have limited bench space so that's why I went this route. Realllly enjoying perfecting my espressos and the milk frother works a treat.

      • buy one anyway and return it in the red box!

        • +4

Did I miss something? That returns the box, not the machine.

    • Geez, that's a good price.
You usually only see that price on an eBay 20% code deal.

      • +4

and the good guys will price match it! i got their 30 day cashback offer on it today and bought a heater with the difference!

    • +2

I bought the Breville BES870 for $551 from JB during 15% ebay deal. Love the machine. Still getting used to dialing in the right parameters for different coffee beans.

    • Pretty good machine indeed! Bought one last week from HN for $650 and got a case of wine as a bonus.

      • +1

        Uppers and downers! Good plan.

    • I've got this model, not that happy with it, made from cheap components. Though can't expect much for the price. It's about a year old and won't dose properly anymore, not that big a deal though just manually stop it. The Sunbeam looks a little nicer to me. If I ever upgrade I'll go for a Rancilio Silvia

      • Rancilio Silvia all the way. Mine is still going strong, probably 10 years old now. Worth every shot.

      • you know you can program the dose settings?

  • Photo of receipt?

  • Nice. I remember when these were $1199 and getting top reviews!

  • dam too bad they are thermoblock. at that RRP price, you'd think it would be dual boiler like the BES920…

    but for $400. its decent.

    • +3

Stainless steel thermoblocks …..fast heat up times which is great on the mornings …..much nicer than boiler units which I used to have.

      • +1

Not to mention the bench space it saves (I'd love a BES920 but it's massive).

  • +3

I got my EM7000 when Harvey Norman had a very similar special a few years ago.
Still going ok after weekend use for a few years now. Doesn't seem to have the same rubber seal ring issue as the EM6900's, apparently.

    • I had my eyes on it for a while now, thought I would never come across a deal like it again after all these years, luckily here it is.

    • I've had my EM6900 for 8 years. Make 2-4 cups of espresso 365 days a year. That's at least 10,000 cups. I waiting for the damn thing to fail so I can spend money of the new hotness. Sadly it keeps working!

      • +1

Somehow I read it as spend money on a new hostess.

      • I'm in the same boat as you, however I dived in! Testing the em7000 tonight I found the pumps much quieter, steam volume much improved, overall looks and feels better quality. Only con is it is slightly larger in dimensions.

My 6910 was going great but I'm glad I dived in and disappointed I waited so long 😀

  • +4

I'm standing in line @JB right now about to pay$399 for one.

    Great find OP!

    • you got a 5% off code?

    • Don't forget the 5% off coupon like I did!

It's on their website, have to register and they send you an email.

      • +4

I didn't have my coupon, but if you ask the staff nicely they may have their 'emergency code' at the counter. I scored another $20 off!

        • Well played :) Enjoy your shiny new toy mate.

  • +1

Seems to be $599 most places…don't see it listed anywhere for $849. Still a good price…

  • :( damn no stock in sydney cbd or east

    • Try asking for the demo unit, they might be willing.

      • all good - i bought one in june for $480 - was trying to pick one up as a gift!

Kicking myself that i could have saved another hundo

  • This is a brilliant machine by the way, and a steal for $379.05 (price with 5% coupon)

  • 1 left at Narellan.

    • +1

Scratch that - I just bought it.
They still have the display one there at Narellan JB.

  • +2

    7-11 coffee - $1….. $398 saved

    • +9

LOL. You've saved yourself from a decent coffee, too.

      • I only drink coffee as a wake me up and keep me going hit. C'mon give me your best shot. Get it get it??

  • Best Grinder? as if you spend a couple hundred on a grinder, than isnt the Breville a better option?

    Debating one over the other.

  • This is $99 at HN but $199 at JB.

    Good Option?

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sunbeam-conical-burr-coffee-g…

    • +2

Spend a bit more and get the Breville BCG820. The Sunbeam is an okay grinder, but it's messy as anything with coffee grinds and husks flying everywhere. The Breville Grinder captures it all into the convenient bin. Much cleaner.

      • Yep, nothing wrong with the Sunbeam, it is a good grinder. But if you can cough up the extra, then get the BCG820. You wont be unhappy either way

      • +1

100% agreed, I personally just upgraded from that Sunbeam to the BCG820 and the latter was worth every penny in comparison. The Sunbeam was okay, but wasn't capable of both espresso and French press grinds at the same time (required removal/addition of a shim) which limited how useful it was. Also, it does make a bit of a mess and retained a lot more coffee grounds which required a good whack to dislodge else your next cup would have 5g+ of old coffee in it.

With the BCG820, it's way easier to dose right into the group handle and get an exact quantity, makes way less mess, retains less coffee, makes less noise, grinds a wider range without fuss, has considerably better grind quality… easily worth the extra $60 (when it's on sale). I only paid $15 for my Sunbeam 2nd hand and the BCG820 is still worth the extra cost to me, it's made a big difference in the quality of my espresso.

      nonoononononon.
Get a decent grinder. Ok, it costs a bit, but is probably one of the best grinders under <$1200:
      https://www.fivesenses.com.au/product/equipment/baratza-sett…

The inbuilt grinder on these is very average.. (And that's being generous).
At $399 though, this Sunbeam machine is a decent deal.

    • It’s okay but it’s messy and you need to take it apart and tighten it’s screws to get it to grind properly.

  • +5

I bought my em7000 from an OzB post in 2014…..@ $399.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147870

What a great coffee machine. Came with a Barista course via Sunbeam. I learnt alot that day :) Now I make some killer coffees with my EM7000.

Happy days, if anyone is uncertain about buying this or not….take my word for it, do it!!
(assuming you are happy to do the extra work a manual machine takes, the positive is the end result will be much better than nespresso and probably better than your goto cafe)

    • I Just bought one on Wednesday. However my machine makes ping sounds every 10-20 seconds. Is that normal or should I return this machine?
      Thanks!

      • That's the thermostat buddy

My code iam not using it. Enjoy

  • Is the item gone?

    • You'll have to ask in store, it can't be found online.

  • I have this machine, its great

  • Think I'll wait for a special deal to come up on this combination:

Breville BEP920BSS Dual Boiler / Smart Grinder Pro.

There have been deals for both these on this site recently - so hopefully they should happen again!

I forgot to ask - just to cover my possible options. Does anyone have an opinion on how good the built-in grinder is on the Breville BES870?

Obviously not as good as the Smart Grinder Pro - but acceptable?

    • The built in grinder on the BES870 is essentially the Smart Grinder - the burr setup etc is exactly the same.

      • Thanks for that, dbun.

The BES870 might have been a good buy, but I've just found out that it only has a 54mm group head, not the 58mm commercial size, and only 2 ltr water capacity.

Looks like the EM7000 might have been a good buy after all!

Ah well - I'll wait for the next specials!

  • Will be following OzBargain like a hawk (more than usual) for a grinder.

  • +1

I took the Plunge - Picked up the Demo in my store for $399 - Given the list price was $599, much more than a 20% Discount.

I then looked at the Breville Smart grinder pro for $269 - no 20% off sadly, and i mentioned Bill Guyats had it for $239 - anyway, he sold it to me for $210

    Then… i used the 5% off Code

$578 Total price for Coffee machine and Smart Grinder pro…. now to find me some beans to grind down then soak and sink down my throat….

    • I like to buy my beans from these guys. Order a 1kg and 250gm = ~$53 for free shipping. You've saved tonnes on the specials now use those savings to get decent beans!

      http://www.elixircoffee.com.au/

    • I got the Breville Smart Grinder Pro from Myer for $199 last week. And thanks to this thread, I now have an EM7000 for $369. The missus was also sold an additional 3 year replace/refund policy for a 50% off price for $60. So all came to $439.

I'm normally against those sort of policies because we are all gifted Australian Consumer Laws, and one could argue that although standard warranty for EM7000 is 1 year, it should last for 3 years.. But regardless, they wouldn't be obliged to refund or replace. They'd repair. For $60 that isn't bad.

So to compare with your deal, $638, but all brand new, non demo, and 3 year replace refund warranty on the em7000.

      Cheers for the heads up.
      K

  • Anyone have a 5% code please? Thank you

    • 92J04NOCIHH2J5

  • Thanks just used it. Cheers!

    heres mine for someone

  • Any good online deals on decent espresso machines? I can't get out of work to go shopping :(

    • +1

If you buy from the Good Guys online in the next 2 hours, you can still have the EM7000 for $598 and there's a promotion that will give you $50 in store credit.

  • I had an em6910 for years and upgraded recently to the em7000. Bought a refurbished model for almost this price. Its been a great machine so far. Quiter than the 6910 and steams the milk much faster

  • +1

Now you gotta splurge on fresh coffee beans every fortnightly or so depending on your consumption. Trust me it makes all the difference.

    • It's definitely a big upgrade from Mr Clooney's Nespresso!

  • Got one! Thanks OP :)

  • For anyone that missed out, I recommend this machine https://www.amazon.it/Lelit-Macinacaffè-Incorporato-Manometro-Retroilluminato/dp/B00HKRHNM4 - Italian made, single boiler, very good built in grinder and not an appliance.

    • Errr that that's AUD $750-800 (depending on shipping time) delivered.

  • +1

I thought I would post this - and see if others encountered the same issue,

I went to JB Hi-Fi Frankston (Powercentre), the ticketed price was $849, I mentioned that it was $599 and it can be further reduced to $399 (with 20% off) and she told me she has never heard this or never seen this and it must be online deal only. Then she went to her previous sales and sales history for the store and said the lowest price they have ever sold it for was $699.

Sorry guys - I just get so many inconsistencies with JB Hi-Fi, I just could not get this deal on that day. Down vote for me…

    Did anyone encounter this issue?

    • Sorry man you couldn't get this deal. Maybe that store wasn't participating in the promotions at all (the 20% off deal was well advertised on their website), and you didn't even see the $599 catalogued price…I went to at least 2 stores and they all had this on.

    • I saw the $399 price in the jb computer when they looked it up at two different jb stores. It scanned at $399

    • I dont think it deserves a down vote due to the regular hopelessness of JBHIFI. I almost didnt buy the Sunbeam due to how crap JBHIFI are but it does seem to be particular stores. I got mine from Narellan and it's a new store, only thing Ive purchased there was the coffee machine. But it was pretty straight forward, guy scanned it and looked surprised that it was $399.

The Macarthur Square JBHIFI - I can guarantee you that I would have your experience there. They are a bunch of monkeys who have no idea what they are doing. Last debacle there was when I bought and XB1 for Christmas, also the last time I ever set foot in that store.

Never been to Woolongong store but they games guy (spoke to over the phone) was absolute professional - Total legend.

    • Your can only get it for 399 on Wednesday. I saw the sale price tag was 599. But when the sales use their device to check the price and stock for me She told me it is 399 in their system.
