      G'day, Dasher.

These are some user based extra charges and are all optional. Paper Bill Fee is for those wanting paper bill, BPay/Australia Post payment handling is for those wanting to pay via those services, etc. The only cost incurred by new customers is the first month of their plan.

Let me know if I needed to include these in my original post. We're new to this whole OzBargain thing so I might have missed a rule or guideline.

      Thanks,

      Moose Mobile

WORSE than Kogan, move on, nothing here

    • How do you figure? been with Moose Mobile for a couple of months now and had 0 issues….. I switched to them after Yomojo told me they were increasing their charges. Ordered a sim, it arrived at my work 20 hours after placing the order (QLD TO SA), and I was without signal for about 1/2 hour when the switch over was done.

I think what 8200 is trying to get at is for a couple of extra dollars you can get 5GB Unlimited plan from Kogan
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/307832

        The difference is that:

Kogan is $205.58 upfront for a full year, Prepaid plan. $16.90 if you look at it from a monthly cost POV.
This is month by month $14 dollars SIM only plan, and costs $168 for 12 months of use.

This has 1GB of data with 1.5cents per megabyte if you go over
Kogan has 5GB of data, you can't exceed this.

Moose has unlimited International SMS and MMS from Australia
Kogan does not have unlimited international MMS or SMS.

        • Hmm that is a pretty good deal actually!! I read into 8200's comments the wrong way (as in Kogan are bad, these guys are "worse" than that).

          Apologies to all.

          @anzacpaul:

          No worries.

Also to semi-hijack, the moderation team has added new page that makes it easy to find good mobile plan deals.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/pages/mobile-plans

You can get to this page by mouse-hover over "Pages" at the top, where the Pizza coupon pages usually is.
It works by tags, so deals need to be tagged correctly for it to appear in there.

    • G'day, 8200.

Are you referring to a better plan by Kogan?

      Thanks, Moose Mobile.

      • Hi bang-for-buck, Kogan on a year prepaid are market leaders, only issue does not work/roam overseas

Are you on Vodafone network or other?

        Cheers

    • Personally, I have no issues with Kogan, other than their customer service setting my email incorrectly, effectively locking me out from my account, and then asking me to reset my access pin, which then went to an incorrect email address because they set it incorrectly, then they made me sent a statutory declaration saying that I am indeed Bradley.

So, yeah, their customer service is restricted in what they can do (also referred to as 'shit') , but at least there isn't a wait time and they call back to confirm that everything is working.

The mobile service itself works flawlessly for me. Over 50 megabits per second with 14GB of data per month, and cheaper than my previous Optus 2GB.

Absolutely not the cheapest, and that's before adding in the hidden costs.

Look, I get that you want free advertising, but if you want to advertise on Ozbargain, there has to be a reasonable bargain. This is just a rip off.

Kogan mobile per month is a bit more expensive, but reliable, well known and no hidden fees.

Along with that its $12.50 per month if you pay for 3 in advance with the same plan you're offering. If you want to buy more, it's $11 per month if you pay for a year in advance. They also have the occasional 14GB card for $2 offer so many of the members here are familiar with them.

I'm sure other places are cheaper than Kogan, but I'm just mentioning them since I use them myself.

    • does kogan have international sms?

    • Keep in mind that by comparing with Kogan, you're not completely comparing apples with apples. Kogan is on the Voda network, whereas Moose is on Optus. There are many areas that have Optus reception but no Voda reception - hence this may still be a bargain for these people.

    • Hi, Bradley.

In comparisons like this there are a lot of variables to take into account. We consider our $14 the cheapest of its kind. It is somewhat difficult to compare plans like this as noz said. Apples and oranges sort of situation, so fair enough if you think otherwise.

      Regards,

      Moose Mobile

  • 1GB for over $10/m is expensive.

    • +1

if you're looking at purely at data sure.
but are you comparing all of the product inclusions?
what is an alternative on month to month with no prepayments in advance that has international sms and unlimited calls?

  • +2

$14 a month for 1gb of data. I know some people are after cheaper plans, but I am getting 12gb a month for $30 on the Optus friends and family deal which was around recently. I would expect more than 1gb for $14 to be honest

  • If only there was a cheaper plan than $14 a month.
About half that with half the data would be great.
Any chances of such a plan Moose Mobile?

    • The OVO Mini plan for $9.95 is pretty good if you don't make too many calls.
      https://www.ovo.com.au

      • The thing with OVO is that there are no unlimited calls to mobiles and other national phone numbers.
