  • Thats the cheapest I seen, going to order one now. Thanks mate!

    • Any one know how much it has to be for customs not to tax you? Was it under $1000AUD?

  • Aaaand juicy Cashrewards !

  • Good deal, got my local stock on the way though, I'd rather pay 10% extra for the peace of mind since the official warranty is restricted to the country it was sold in (in this case, America)

    • How much you end up paying local? Where did you end up buying?

      • It cost $1038 local from the link listed here.

I guess it was more like 15% extra.

Ordered two days ago (Wednesday), knowing that they said they were out of stock, yesterday (Thursday) I got a call saying they'd received stock and asking if anyone would be home later today (Friday) to sign for it.

I guess I'll have plenty of time to try it out before my dbrand skins for it arrive (especially as they're on preorder).

Edit: Forgot to mention, macgregors said that his boss let's him sell cheaper than other places, but no idea how much cheaper or if it's official Australian stock. Might be better off with this deal.

Also, if you're not familiar with this drone, this one is known for being awesome fun for playing around with, but definitely not for professional use. Batter also lasts a little over 10 minutes.

You'll also want the combo due to the extra battery, case, guards and definitely the controller. With the controller, you can fly it up to 2km away, without it, you're restricted to connecting with your phone through a wifi hotspot, you'll only get 100m if you're lucky.

        • Thanks mate, yeh definitely a handy drone. I want it for an upcoming holiday so like the size of it. Did you hear on some of the facebook pages where users were reporting the DJI spark losing power completely while flying. With your purchase can you get the DJI care?

        • @kennyshin: I don't believe so, but I'd imagine losing power mid flight would be covered by either normal warranty or the ACL.

I have an upcoming holiday also, but it's overseas in Japan, and I'm not sure of the regulations regarding the drone…

        • @BradleyDS2: you can't fly them in Japan

        • @OzSikhs: Well crap, I thought it was just heavily restricted…

      • Got it today, batteries and remote charging as I type this.

The GST was 94.37, so if you're going overseas for your trip, use TRS to make the drone cost $944 (including shipping).

That makes it only 5% more to buy from an Australian retailer.

        • Almost forgot about that, saving me more money bradleyDS2 hahahaa!

        • @kennyshin: Glad to help :)

    • You're more likely to need care-refresh then warranty when you invariably smack it into a wall. DJI giving you the spare props is their way of knowing you will crash it. Its only a matter of time before you do.

      • Yeah, I'm going to get care-refresh for it.

  • Thanks mate, i will give him a yell. really wish i could just go into some store and buy it tomorrow. I ordered from Ted camerahouse but they said they were delayed by DJI until September for the combos.

    • Yeah, I saw your comment in the other thread. That sucks…

JB do price matching with Australian retailers though, you could try going through the link in the other page, go to checkout, print out the price and get JB to price match when they get stock.

      • i see what macgregor can do , let me know how you go with your spark tomorrow

      • how you go, you get your spark mate?? i just ordered from the same place you did.

        • Ah, sorry, completely forgot to respond, was too busy having fun playing with my spark!

Got it and everything is perfect!

  • This is an awesome price.. I have one.. you definitely need the controller for longer distance and fine controls. Plus you get additional cashrewards.. wish they also had mavic pro fly more at a similar discount..

    • @mikokik5 what sort of range do you get with the controller. Aussie testimonials on range seem rare and the range in Europe due to output limitations seems pitiful.

      • In Australia the max range with controller would be about 500m.

I believe we're under CE rather than FCC regulations.

Doesn't matter anyway as there's no way you could maintain LOS at 500m.

I've got a Phantom 3 Advanced for the longer range shots but bought the standard Spark (w/o controller) to chuck in the bag and go to the park with the kids etc.

"The best drone is the one you have on you."

There's no way I'm going to pack up the Phantom for little family outings.

      • Send me a message and I'll tell you my experience and knowledge on the restrictions :)

I can't message you, looks like you have it disabled.

Alternatively, if you google DeeJayEye Github you can find some info on how the restrictions work if you're curious.

The restrictions are NOT hardcoded, it detects where you are and sets the restrictions accordingly. This means that if you take it overseas to America, you can fly it 4 times as far, check the link I gave, it's interesting how it works…

    • it will not ship to Australia and if you go to the AU store it will revert to AU$1199 for the whole set

      • Didn't realise that! You can use myus services to sent it to Australila. general charges are around AUD $50 with insurance.

        • why not just use Amazon? shipping is just around AU$20 which is cheaper! the myus would cost you another US$30-50 at least. Plus you get Amazon warranty (return, etc. managed by them)

  • I'm really tempted to buy one but can't find anywhere near me to use one legally. I live in Bondi, is there anywhere within cooee to fly it?

      bondi beach?

      check here; https://casa.dronecomplier.com/external

      • unfortunately you can't even fart on bondi beach without the rangers chasing after you!

        • it's a pretty big area you can fly anywhere without the ranger in sight or as long as there are "no drones" sign anywhere, heck show them the CASA app if they want to argue :)

        • @r0xz:
A crowded beach might fall under the populated area rule if there are lots of beach goers (say on a hot day). Also around bondi-beach its height restricted due to helicopters patrolling the beach.

      • Thanks never knew about this!
