Yeah it was $429 other day. Still $449 at JB Hi Fi. I didn't think iphones could be carrier locked after the 5's. Even if it is locked iphones can be unlocked for free.

All prepaid means is that it comes with a sim card and maybe a telco logo on boot up/telco software. With iPhones, they are usually unlocked or can be unlocked for free (due to an agreement between apple and telco's). It is only non-apple branded phones that are locked to a telco when bought as "prepaid" (I work at Telstra).

Pretty sure this is to pricematch against BigW. Notice it was $499 unlocked in their latest catalogue. 5% off with Wish eGift cards if you get it from them as well, so ~$474.
The one I got for $429 from OW was locked, but put my work Telstra sim in, went to the Telstra unlock iPhone/iPad website (google it) put in my IMEI and was unlocked in half an hour.
Not sure I even needed to put a Telstra sim in it. Didn't speak with anyone…. had it unlocked on the website for free.
