Yes that's a lot of gin, but it works out to be more than 25% off the current Dan's price of $56.90 (which is a catalogue special). It's a pretty good gin. Remember Cashrewards.

  • can never have too much gin..

    • I never had gin before.

      • gin & tonic on ice is crazy good.

      • Gin and Dry Ginger Ale over ice

        • rarely, I have brandy with dry ginger. I might buy the old folks a bottle of gin returning from my next overseas trip so I can at least give it a try. always wondered what its like. I keep on thinking it would be something along the lines of vodka maybe not so harsh ?

        • @darkage:
I've found the best gin to buy duty free is tanqueray ten, I usually make up most of my 2.25L limit (and usually more) on it. Usually around 1/3 the $80+ price tag here.

        • @linton: I go with Bombay Sapphire, it's a lot softer than London gins such as Beefeater/Gordons/Tanqueray (I haven't tried the Ten).

At duty free it's $70 for 2x1 litre bottles, $10 for the 200ml bottle. Usually pay $55 or so for a 700ml in bottle shops.

        • @JBOT:
I drank either tanqueray or sapphire as my regular gin after trying them, and there's no way I could step back. In comparison the others are very harsh.

The Ten is definitely more refined, to the point where neat isn't even out of the question. A lot of nice botanicals. Highly recommended it.

That said, not sure I can justify the $80+ price for 700ml for an everyday drink if I didn't pick them up duty free at 2 for $55 any chance I get.
