The End of Zazz?

Zazz, the 1st one deal a day site in Australia, appears to be bust. I was surprised to see it still going after 11 years but looks like its been down for maintenance for at least a week and nothing on their social media. I can still see my past orders but no new products since July 17.

See some of the Zazz deals over the past decade such as this 16GB No Name USB Drive for $66 delivered which you can now buy for $12 at Officeworks.

Still appears to be some Zazzers hanging around their forums but doesn't look good.

  • What did you get from them Neil?

    • Me:

      01/01/2015 1 x New Year's Mystery Freebie
      24/10/2010 1 x Ambient Timer Night Light
      11/08/2008 1 x 1-UP Mushroom

    • Nothing since '08. I bought a 400GB HD for $170 and a bunch of other things, none of which I still own (or know where they are).

      EDIT (Total list):

      20/04/2008 1 x Super Tiny Bluetooth Headset $23.70
      09/11/2007 1 x Chocolate Fondue Fountain $44.80
      21/03/2007 1 x External USB2.0 Hard Drive $146.60
      30/11/2006 2 x 400Gb Samsung Hard Drive $357.20
      17/11/2006 1 x Wireless Keyboard and Mouse $36.70

      • Ooh they even reformatted it for you… :o

And same, just random junk. Same with 1-day

          Same with 1-day

1-Day gave up at the start of the year, went to eBay and upon checking have sold bugger all.

Never did care for 1-Day, they had the bad habit of shipping stuff in the retail box.

CatchOfTheDay became '20000 Items Of The Day' and thus ignored.

          OzStock is still going.

  • This brings back memories. The only thing I bought from Zazz was a TomTom One GPS.

account so old I don't think I can remember what email I used to sign up with.

  • Thanks for making me feel young.

    • My eBay account is almost old enough to drink a beer. 🍺

    • You had me at "∀┴".

First wrote about Zazz 11 years ago. Used to stay up until 12AM to check what's up for sale. Bought a few junks over the years. They also sponsored some competitions back in 2010

    • Yeah I remember checking it at 9/10pm ;)

    • Was that before clicks were displayed? It has 0.

      • It was before competition posts were introduced on ozbargain. It was posted as a forum post initially, and then got converted to a competition post.

  • Thought the title read "The End of Jazz" and somehow expected a topic on La La Land or something.

  • Yeah sad but I feel they simply have become uncompetitive. I stopped going there once they ceased to show the price of an article till you logged in, hate that (same thing with Meh in the US). The forum used to be very popular but posts had dropped to almost zero, another bad sign.

Much rather see the end of Shopping Squat or Trash of the Day than Zazz.

    • Interestingly CoTD started as a copy of Zazz (which itself is a copy of Woot), but they have certainly manoeuvred away from being a one-deal-a-day site to become a discount department store, and then recently rebranded as Catch and changed their business to market place. Meanwhile Zazz still sells just one junk every 24 hours after all these years…

      • In my last few looks 2015/6 Zazz was usually selling 3 or so items so they'd moved away from one a day too.

        • They had a single featured item and then 'other items' in a side bar.

  • Another component of my complicated existence that I must leave behind me on my journey through life…

  • I actually bought something from them very recently. A funky little phone stand for my desk at work.

  • Huh, zazz.com.au redirects to kogan.com.au now.

I see they've sold a bit of Kogan-branded stuff on Zazz in the past.

So the answer to the question is "Yes".

    • Wow, another one bought out

      • more likely a case of they were shutting down and sold the domain to Kogan because a few $$$ is better than no $$$ for an asset.

      • I notice theres a Tandy Online which is kogan.

        • Wow, Tandy.

I forgotten about them, when did they vanish?

I know Woolworths brought them ages ago and kinda mushed them & Dick Smith together, but can't remember the last time I actually saw a Tandy store.

Zazz are back under the Kogan group.

    • That's why they have a good deal with the Kogan tv at the moment.

    • I got the email as well.

New site rather than just a redirect to kogan.com.au like it's been for the past few weeks.

I wonder if Kogan will promote it or just use it to dump their excess. Didn't seem to be anything of interest there, meh.

Looks like they are really gone now unfortunately. Received an email that links to Kogan site as does Zazz.com.au…
