      Of?

      The previous 'bargain' was the Data Packs, this is Value Packs.

      not sure either is really a bargain though, as these are just new pricing.

  • +1

    This is not as good as their previous 2 specials which were basically Unobtainium.

  • Now 3GB (+750MB)

    I am new to ALDI Mobile, what is that?

    • Previously 2.25GB. It is now 3GB, hence the 750MB extra.

      • -2

        hence the 750MB extra.

        From where it said extra?

        • To put it another way, the new included data is 3GB per month which is an increase of 750MB over the previous offer of 2.25GB per month.

        • @jdr:

          Ha ha … a bit confused I thought with extra 750MB total 3.75GB.

        • @superforever:

          And I didn't want to go into the 1GB = 1024MB instead of 1000MB detail.

  • +3

    Gotta give a thumbs up for the data roll over feature, the rolled over data is used first in the next month, if you don't use a lot, effectively, you'll always have close to 3GB reserve for the following month, unlike Virgin, which only uses the rolled over data if you have finished the current month's quota

    • just keep in mind

      Unused data will rollover for 1 expiry period (and the same unused data can only be rolled over once) and will be used up first before your other data allowances.

      • Using the rolled over before the fresh is better though. Anyhow I've been on Aldi a while now and its been perfecto. Im on the now 3gig plan.

  • +6

    Moved to Aldi Mobile about 3 months ago, could not be happier with the experience I've had so far. The $25 L Cap is awesome, and it's just gotten even better with the monthly data allowance increasing to 3GB monthly. My mobile 4G/3G reception is better and more constant than it ever was on Vodafone (I know that sounds like it should be obvious, but I really didn't know what I was missing when I was on Vodafone).

    • +2

      Ditto. I was on Aldi. Moved to Amaysim then Yomojo. Yeah, thanks to Ozb. Pathetic reception I get for Optus network.
      Gone back to Aldi After few days. .

      • Thumbs up for us both sharing the curse of terrible optus reception. They have literally the stupidest antenna positions, apparently placing one antenna kilometres from the centre of Warragul is fine. Never mind the emergency calls only reception you get everywhere except the outskirts, and the fact Warragul is home to tens of thousands of people lol

  • +1

    Full Telstra coverage?

    • +4

      Supposedly it's only part of the Telstra network but I have never been anywhere that I didn't have service and a full telstra user did. Aparrently some towns way out in the desert this is the case

      • +1

        Regional areas are not as good

        • I'M out in regional and am happy with the coverage compared to being w other providers.
          It really depends on your circumstances. But a good starting point is looking at the coverage maps … here's the aldi one https://www.aldimobile.com.au/faq/#collapse-three

      • +1

        Its Telstra Wholesale, not Telstra. You dont have to go way out to find limits. In between towns theres plenty too. There are coverage maps to show the difference and its a fair bit not covered. But if you stay in the burbs, you wont notice much. But you dont have to be the Leyland brothers to notice the difference. Its why I went with Boost for the coverage and sacrificed 4GX speed. 4G is plenty for me.

        • +1

          I live quite rural and frequent rural areas, I have never been without reception when someone on telstra retail had signal..

        • so you're saying Boost has better coverage than Aldi mobile even though they're both wholesale?

        • @Droid11: Not really. Theres coverage area, and theres speeds. Wholesale is full speed, but less coverage. Boost is Telstra retail coverage, but limited to 4G.

      • Most definitely black out areas in regional WA, you wouldn't want to be FIFO with one of these packs or you'll find out the hard way, like I did :(

        Boost is the better pay as you go option in this case..

        • Yeah reception outside Darwin is non existent even in semi bigger places like Katherine where normal Telstra has good coverage. My partner has the normal Telstra so we see the difference. Also noted off the track in the blue mountains

  • +1

    Free calls to 1300 and 1800 too?

    • From my experience, yes.

      • So that's a definite yes.. The Tc didn't mention that though

        • +1

          Read the critical information summary on their legal page.

          The following services are provided during your credit validity period within Australia:

          unlimited standard calls to national fixed lines and standard national mobile, 13/1300, 18/1800, and voicemail;

        • @kurisu:thanks!

  • Do stores have SIMs yet? Last I checked stores didnt stock SIMs anymore.

    • Stores don't sell it anymore. SIM Purchase has to be online.

      • Really? The $5 sim is everywhere in WA though…or is there a different one?

      • Got my sim in store in Mentone.. there were plenty

    • I bought one instore a few weeks ago in Brisbane.

    This is an announcement of new prices, not a bargain… It belongs in the forums.

    • +1

      Yeah and then when the deal is live it will be a duplicate and hidden in the forums.

      • -1

        It's not a deal, it's Aldi's normal prices.

        • This is OzBargain not OzTemporaryPriceReductions.

        • -2

          @LoopyLou:

          Exactly… and a normal, everyday price is not a bargain…

        • @jv:
          In your opinion.

          Great bargain.

        • -1

          @ripsnorter:

          In your opinion.

          Correct.

          Do you post other people's opinions then ???

        • @jv:

          Perhaps I should have emphasised "opinion". Your repeated emboldening in your comments comes across to me as though you are either stating a fact or you think people are incapable of interpreting your comments without bold type to emphasise your point.

          In my opinion, this is a great deal. If this is not a deal or a bargain or belongs in the forums then report it instead of whinging about it. A great price and an improved product for the same price is great deal to me.

        • -1

          @ripsnorter:

          Perhaps I should have emphasised "opinion"

          Why?

        • @jv: Oh, what a surprise. A mini thread of jv comments marked as 'off-topic'. Turns out your opinion is actually factually wrong.

        • -1

          @ripsnorter:

          My opinion is correct. You provided nothing to prove it's wrong as usual.

        • @jv:

          You provided nothing to prove it's wrong as usual.

          What a stupid comment.
          Derrr. The fact that the moderators have marked this mini-thread as off-topic proves you wrong.
          Derrr. This deal has not been placed in the forums.
          Derrr. The 62 people who upvoted this deal help shows it's a bargain.
          Stop continuing to argue when everyone can see you are wrong; you're just embarrassing yourself.

        • @ripsnorter:

          What a stupid comment.

          That's just your 'opinion', which is worthless…

        • @jv:
          I have proven everything I have stated. Unlike you, who has been proven wrong, time and time again. You just keep ignoring the facts, jv.

        • -1

          @ripsnorter:

          I have proven everything I have stated

          proving to yourself doesn't count… lol.

        • @jv:
          Keep talking shit, jv.

        • @ripsnorter:

          That's just your 'opinion', which is pretty much worthless… lol.

    • +4

      Prices are the same … the user is getting more data for the same price.

      A "bargain" is defined as 'an advantageous purchase'. So the above is considered a "bargain".

      • -2

        It's not 'advantageous' if you can get this at any time… There is no saving. It's the current 'normal' price…

        • +1

          Of course it's the current normal price, hence the bargain compared to what you would have gotten before it became a bargain.

        • -1

          @Frugal:

          Of course it's the current normal price, hence the non-bargain

          fixed…

        • +1

          @jv:

          What if Aldi decides to reduce the data next month .. would that then make this deal a "bargain"?

        • -1

          @Frugal:

          If the offer was only for a limited time, and you could not get a comparable service cheaper, then it would be a bargain.

    • +1

      JV you bring this up in many aldi posts if you think it's an issue raise with mods or create a topic in site discussion rather than annoying people every time.

      • -1

          What does this have to do with whisky.

    Aldi uses Telstra line.

    Isn't this for mobiles ?

    • Invisible Telstra line

      • It was something Beepa said.

  • No upgrade for the M packs..?
