          Thanks..

  • is this like an Xiaomi Air competitor? Also LITB have a horrible reputation on this website

    • +1

Nope… This is a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series competitor, at best.

Mibook Air has better build quality and specifications, as well as SATA based storage, since they don't run Atom or Pentium CPU's, they run the Core M3 and Core i- series.

This EZbook model does not have M.2, so you're just stuck with using emmc flash storage. Faster than most HDD's but slower than most SSDs.

      • +1

yep Mibook air is more of a Macbook competitor.

still for $260 AU this will have better specs then anything in the $500 range walking into an officeworks, jb hi fi store etc. I don't even see full hd or IPS displays on laptops until you hit the $800 range in shops.

        • How laggy will this EZbook be?

I have Atoms and they are very laggy in Windows.

        • @lostn:

This is an Apollo lake platform, so it shouldn't be confused for the tablet / smartphone Atoms such as the Atom z3735f or the Atom X-series. It would be around 2x as fast as the Atom X5-8350 for example.

Speed-wise it would perform like quite well, but only if it is not under thermal throttling.

If it runs at 2.2ghz you can expect reasonable performance, but under heavy load it would go down to 1.1ghz as it gets hot and the performance drops considerably.

Relatively snappy for general internet use and video playback use, but not for gaming and tasks that take up a lot of CPU time.

        • @scrimshaw:

This is an Apollo lake platform

Is that more comparable to M3 and i5 in terms of power draw and performance?

Even the Z8300 I have drained battery quite fast, and that is meant to be low power. I have to use it with power bank connected.

        • @lostn:

          no… lower.

atoms are basically the most basic, Apollo Lake 'Celeron's are a tad higher, followed by Core M3, M5, Pentium (*) series and then Core i-x series.

(*) pentium brand name are only for desktops now. For e.g pentium G4400. I don't think Intel uses Pentium to brand laptop CPU's anymore.

        • @scrimshaw: core M3 is pretty much at i3 levels. i think pentiums go before core M tbh. they are pretty damn fast in my usage.

      • My experience with emmc is that it's slower than most HDDs. Significantly. I get about 20MB/s writes or less. With HDDs I can get up to 100MB/s writes.

        • That's because you have no idea what you're talking about. It's faster than mechanical yet slower than solid

  • Is this the model ("version 3") with AC wireless and a M.2 SSD slot?

If it is, this is a very good price for a nice machine. I own a couple of these and the build quality is great, and they run fine for most uses. Only weakness is the trackpad - it's shit.

    • +1

this is model"3 pro", don't have M.2 SSD slot

    • +1

Note: this original golden laptop Ezbook3 pro do not have M. 2 expansion port.
All the golden laptops(Ezbook3pro) manufactured by the factory do not have m.2 interface.

  • How does the N3450 compare to Z8300 or Z3735f? Is it better or slower?

    • EZBOOK2:Intel Cherry Trail X5 Z8350 Quad Core 1.44GHz, up to 1.92GHz VS EZBOOK 3PRO :Intel Apollo Lake N3450 Quad Core 1.1GHz, up to 2.2GHz

all the details are on the page

      • -1

But I can't tell what's better, especially based on ghz alone.

        1.1 to 2.2

        vs

        1.44 to 1.92

How much would each spend on the low side, and how much on the high side is the question. And also, each mhz cycle one might do more work than the other.

        • +1

you probably need to hit a few cpu comparisons sites

without looking, undoubtedly the N3450 is faster, its a generation ahead and newer

however the DERE D17 was also 50% cheaper so…

i wouldnt put too much stock into pure MHZ… the Core M3 cpus in the Surface Pros are like 900ghz and 2.2ghz boost and they will blow the doors off both of these.

        • -1

          @tonyjzx:

Yeah that's what I wanted to know, thanks.

This is actually not a bad deal. If it's faster than the crappy Atoms I have which really don't meet the minimum requirements for Windows 10 if you ask me.

The price is fair. It's just not at impulse buy prices. I like that it has 6GB RAM and 64GB which makes it possible to update Windows at least.

    • +1

N3450 is faster. it's single threaded score is twice that of a Z8300.

  • +1

here is a good video review on it ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDeA3u0LwOY

Worth noting this thing currently can NOT run Linux.

That doesn't mean someone won't find a way in the future, but at this time, very little success has been had even getting it to boot past the manager.

  • Thanks OP/rep! Been eyeing off this laptop on GearBest for a couple weeks. Happy with this price :)

    • +1

      glad you like it 0,0

  • What's the battery life like on these?

we offer 3 months quality warranty, after it delivered if you find any quality problem in 3 months, you can return and exchange.

Only 3 months? No deal. Let's not forget the spam you've been inundating me with that I'm still trying to get rid of.

    • +1

hi mate, apologize for this trouble, about the Unsubscribe, please check here

      • -1

No comment on the 3 month warranty?

For electronics it's usually 12 months. Why so short?

        • +2

it's company's rule, and considering we are oversea company, so may not offer same warranty like local, i'm checking with supplier to see if i can get any extra warranty, waiting their feedback

        • +1

@MiniInTheBox: The warranty for most electronics is 12 months. It's set by the manufacturer, not the country you're in.

3 months, I don't trust the quality of this thing. The manufacturer itself does not have confidence in its own products.

You give 3 months warranty and it will take at least one month just to receive it, leaving me with only 2 months warranty and then I have to throw it away if there's something wrong with it.

        • -1

No Chinese stores give customers 12 months warranty. Americans don't even get 12 months warranty on stuff they buy in their own country. Seems like you just want to have a whinge for the sake of it

        • -1

          @wingwang:

          What rot.

I bought a Chuwi tablet from BG and got 12 months warranty from that.

No Chinese stores give customers 12 months warranty.

          Don't talk rubbish.

Here's an example I pulled at random from Banggood:

          https://www.banggood.com/Teclast-X98-Plus-II-Intel-Cherry-Tr…

          Go to Return Policy

This warranty and return policy are only available for the sub-categories of Android and Windows tablets.

          1 year warranty

Tablets are covered by a one-year warranty, while their accessories like cables and chargers are covered by a three-months one.

If the tablet is defective within one year from its delivery date, you can return it for a free repair.

The scope of this warranty excludes all damages caused by artificial factors, like dis-assembly, misuse, drops, falls, water, unofficial firmwares, software modifications or similar causes both for tablets and their accessories.

If your return request has been approved, we will cover the entire repair fee, handling fee and the replacement fee of the defective component, except for motherboards and screens.

If one or more of accessories are faulty within three months from their delivery date, please send us some photos or a video of the problem and we will arrange a refund or a replacement after confirming the nature of the issue.

What do China sellers do if they sell actual legit products like Samsung Galaxy or iPhone? They are only going to offer 3 months warranty on an iPhone?

Americans don't even get 12 months warranty on stuff they buy in their own country.

          Absolute lies.

          https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-d…

        • @lostn:

          Absolute lies.

try looking up 90 day warranty which most get. Microsoft, etc all 90 days warranty, its a USA thing.

          https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/251649-accounts-subscripti…

theres hundreds of people complaing about a 90 day warranty, wow amazing… if you love gearbests warranty period, buy the product from them.. simple right?

          http://www.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_620750.html

140 dollars more. enjoy your warranty.

  • +1

Forget getting any warranty from China sellers.

  • Would this be suitable to run PMS and Kodi? Can I keep
    It as always on! Thanks

    • +1

it plays the highest resolution x265 via hardware decoding but you could do the same with a tinkerboard

  • Mine is on the way delivery in 3 days. Arch Linux has the WiFi drivers in AUR

    • We bought it on the same day. How come yours on the way and mine is still in processing?? 😞

      • Mine was just delivered, arch installed and everything works sound, WiFi, touchpad, etc…perfect laptop for the price

      • +1

hi mate, do you mind pm me your order number? so that i can check it and figure out what happened

  • +1

so some thoughts on this laptop:

it comes with an Intel 3165 AC network card despite most other EZBook Pro 3's coming with the rtblahblahwhatever chipset, so that's a huge plus over the other models with N only wifi.

it HAS an m2 socket, but no option to connect an actual M2 sata drive… although it's highly likely you can buy a daughter board and attach one easily

It will boot into all Linux distros as long as you are using ReFIND as your bootloader instead of grub via uefi

the eMMC drive is made by Toshiba and gives incredible read and write speeds, unlike most other ezbook 3 pro models which come with some cheap crappy chinese one

for $199 USD delivered this is an amazing laptop.

the aluminium case feels very high quality

    • received mine yesterday. Had a quick play and noticed the using the touchpad, the cursor would jump down to the bottom left of screen randomly. Anyone had the same issue?

      • +1

the touchpad is the worst part of it, can be fixed with updated drivers

check techtablets forums theres a whole section on ezybook 3 pro with info

        techtablets.com/forum/forums/jumper/ezbook-series/

        • Cheers I'll check it out

    • "it HAS an m2 socket, but no option to connect an actual M2 sata drive… although it's highly likely you can buy a daughter board and attach one easily"

So there is an M2 port for SSD expansion? I thought OP said this doesnt have M2 SSD expansion?

  • Going to start using this as my sole personal computer. Is it reinstalling windows completely or am I relatively safe (thinking similar case to spyware on Chinese phones).
