I've got one of these and it is the worst STB I've ever used (comparing it to 3 others). It kept loosing most of the channels every few days when I first got it and was about to throw it away but found there was a firmware patch on the Laser website so I installed that. This seemed to fix the channel loss problem for a few days (might have just been luck) but it has come back again and of the channels that do remain it actually just displays One HD for about half of them even though it shows the correct channels name/title.

    In three words:
    DO NOT BUY

I would return yours and get my money back , mine has been good although it is way below the best Pvr's on the market, i have this as a backup for my other units and when there is storms around.

It plays most media formats aswell as a pvr and a stb , personally these were great a few months ago but now seem expensive to what else is out there.

The remote isnt very good either the buttons are very close and the sticker overlay on mine isnt flush.

If your in the market for a good PVR stay away from the smaller players like laser highlander even strong which are good / bad, everything cheap is going to be fiddly or have some issue that will annoy you compared to someone else

Bottom line is , if you dont like tinkering get a Tivo

      • i would agree with mikinoz

i dont think it's all that good playing back media but it records fine to USB stick and i can compress and save it on my pc

i put my remote in a shoebox and use a Logitech Harmony… the std. remote is garbage

however as a pure stb slash part time pvr it's fine

it changes channel quick and it stable on all channels

for $60 odd bucks + free hdmi cable from ozstock… could be a lot worse

  • Good buy, but these will just get cheaper… and nothing beats a Topfield :P

    • Holy logo Batman! That has to be the biggest logo-on-device I've ever seen! It's doubly impressive as they just REBRANDED it (as opposed to designed/manufactured it)
