When Amazon comes to Australia, I hope they bring Anker products with them.

    • I can't even remember how many times I've been frustrated by an Anker product on sale at Amazon only to see they won't ship it here!

      • Sigh, yeah I should have checked.

      • Ditto. Thankfully they're changing their tune. I bought the SoundBuds Slim recently, and was surprised it shipped here.

        • +1

I see what you did there

      • You should have checked their official eBay store. I used to get loads of stuff shipped from AnkerDirect from America and because of some quirk in their system maybe the shipping was always really cheap. Then one time I went to order something and it said no shipping to Australia. Might be worth checking them again, AnkerDirect on eBay.

    Anker SoundCore Portable Bluetooth Speaker

This is just the Bluetooth model, any good deals on the Wifi model, the W-Anker ?

    • Reams of usesless drivel flushed where it belongs. Try harder, child.

      • Well… that was kind of funny, even though it's from jv.

        • -2

          Yep, I did upvote it didn't I?

        • +1

@LoopyLou: I shall do the same.

I've got one, it's great, much better than my UE Boom 2.

    • I've got one too, and love mine. Never looked into the Boom because this was always good enough. Glad to hear that it compares well.

    • Would it be okay as a speaker for games? I have a monitor for my PS4 and can get 3.5mm audio but I have no speakers about the place.

  • +2

I have this. It's fantastic value. Only thing I can complain about is that the buttons, especially the bluetooth connect button, are annoying to press, because they aren't regular clicky buttons. They are more like the buttons on microwave where u press pretty hard. I imagine the pressure due to the button pressing will wear it out in the long term.

People say this is a competitor to the BOSE portable speaker - I suppose it is. The sound is great, loud enough, clear enough, but I have never compared it to the Bose because that is way out of my budget.

    • Goodness this competes with the Bose minis? I feel like doing dumping my JBL charge 2 for these.

      • I may just have magnetic fingers or something but I've had several bose mini's die on me. last fault may have been battery.. but a replacement is the same cost as this deal, so I may as well try one of these out

      • +1

It is definitely not a competitor for the Bose SoundLink Mini Series, however it's other brother the Anker Premium AK3143 which is roughly $87.33 AUD Delivered. The bass is just not as enjoyable through this bluetooth speaker.

        • Anker Soundcore arrived today. Your report is accurate.. The bass isn't nearly as present.

Bose(via Myers) just now replaced my Mini with a Mini II, despite it being quite past normal warranty period. So that's renewed my faith in the Bose brand. Will keep the bose inside/clean use, and have the anker for the garden/shed/carport work etc.

That giant, ugly, obnoxious logo on the front is enough to make me steer well clear of this product. Eughhhh.

    • +6

I had the same thought. Black texta would fix that though.

      • +1

the 20+ hour battery won me over

    • +1

I'm actually hoping the front cover comes off fairly easily so I can laser engrave a W on there before one of my mates does it with a texta or paint pen… it's going to be getting used on camping trips and the likes so it's bound to happen sooner or later…..

  • Typical for me. Was looking at this model a couple of weeks ago after reviews but bought local delivered Bluedio instead.
Wish I'd waited a few more days as this seems impressive in reviews.
Had to replace my old xiaomi which took a swim. The bluedio in comparison is a little disappointing. It's not bad per se but the size and weight led me to expect more. I find the processing a little off, and sound a little too bright for my liking. Maybe my memory is off but the xiaomi seemed to have more discernible low volume bass.
My views are tempered by the fact that we're only talking a ~$40 speaker, but considering I nabbed my xiaomi for under $20 over a year ago the competition have a lot to live up to.

The is a great reviewer on YouTube who records using binaural microphones which is fantastic for getting a better idea of sound first. Hunt around, he's reviewed plenty of offerings. Ironically the bluedio was not one he's reviewed, i trusted other reviews instead.

    Hope this helps someone.

    • Why did you not get another Xiaomi? (Shipping time I assume)

      • Partly because I'm dopey, partly because I just wanted to try something a little different.
I want the newer xiaomi model and it was a little pricey for what I need / long wait for cheaper options on Ali.
Both the bluedio and the xiaomi are good, I'm just a touch underwhelmed for the % increase in price.
200% price with maybe 25% louder volume but 25% lower quality sound (to my ear, which is simply personal preference).

        • Geekbuying deal for the Xiaomi at under $20 has just popped up… too good to resist at that price cheers.

  • Oh man, bought 4 of these a couple of hours ago too

Oh well, thanks for the deal OP

  • +1

This seems like the old model. There is now version 2 and also a premium version.

    • Better to pay a bit more and get the others maybe depending on whats the improvement.Unfortunately the premium one doesnt have 24 hour battery life

  • Thanks OP, I should buy this rather buying the UE roll 2

  • Thanks been waiting for a reasonable deal on one of these.

  • might be a silly Q'n, but does this have an audio out port - so i can use it as a bluetooth receiver and plug it into my existing old school sound system

  • +1

Got one. I hope it supports Band 21 Pilots.

    • Is that like band 28?

  • Would've been better if it was the Soundcore Sport XL

  • One happy customer here. The quality is pretty decent. Battery life is amazing.

  • +1

Folks, I have this and its good, but be aware that it is seriously small - 5.5cm high, 16cm wide.

Sound is very impressive for the size. These are speakers to throw in your backpack with laptop, or for a picnic.
Gives decent volume without distortion, but don't expect bass. If I flick the sound between this and my larger, similarly-priced, bluetooth speakers, the bass suddenly jumps out.

Anker bass disappears rapidly below 200Hz.

  • How does this compare to the braven 705?

  • +2

I bought jabra solemate mini on catch of the day few months back. When I received it, I felt it is tiny. But, when I paired my phone and played a song. I was like WOW. The sound is crisp, incredible and amazing bass (not too much and not too less). And for the price they are available currently on catch of the day they are a steal.

It is small to fit into your backpack. The charge stays for a very long hours. If I did not listen to music on it for a day, I feel like I missed something

    Try this

Has anyone done a comparison of this with an x50 or x300 64gb logitech? I have both and found the sound on them to be very decent. The x300 was recently cheaper than this for Aussie stock so would be interesting to know.

  • How does this compare with the XIAOMI Square Box 2?

  • thank you very much.
just purchased after my Jawbone Jambox gave out.
