Bosch Athlet Cordless Handstick Vacuum (BCH6255NAU) - $268.20 ($218.20 after Cashback) @ The Good Guys eBay

COZZIE

This is a good price for a good vacuum. Normally $298 at The Good Guys. Have been eyeing off a new vacuum for a while. This baby has the equivalent suction power to a 2400w corded vacuum. Mate works at Harvey Norman has shown me this and the dyson v6/v8. Can happily say the performance of this is astounding. Reviews are quite positive on product review. There is a second model of this for $50 more expensive at Harvey Norman. I contacted Bosch to explain the difference between the two. They emailed back saying that the $50 more expensive one has 60 minute run time compared to 50 minutes on this model.

Bosch currently offering $50 cashback on the athlet range at https://boschpromotion.com.au/Athlet/PersonalDetails until 30 September 2017.

  • 50 or 60 minutes is huge compared to my Dyson. Is this true?

    • +1

Yes these are a bit bigger then the dyson handsticks.

    • That would be on the lowest setting, which would have less suction.

  • Does this have an on/off button or a trigger that you need to hold in to use it? I have a dyson 35 (something like that - I'm at work so can't check the model number) and while it is fantastic, having to hold in a trigger is pretty annoying and I need to swap hands quite often. Minor complaint I know, but something I'd love to avoid in my next stick vacuum purchase.

    • I think the trigger is supposed to save battery as you won't leave it on when you move stuff etc…

      • +1

I'm not doubting it's usage, just saying I'd rather have a switch. Just preference.

    • +1

It has a flick switch. Starts in off position. Flicks from off to 1 to 2 to turbo.

      • This is perfect. I'll look further in to it now!

  • +2

I have used the older version for nearly 2 years and I can recommend it. Not as fancy as the dysons for sure, but you don't have to hold it on your hands and keep pressing the button…

I was interested in buying one about a year ago so managed to play around with all models in at least three stores. It became apparent to me that the more expensive one is also the most powerful. I rang Bosch to confirm this yet they said it was only battery time improvement. My experience distinctly showed otherwise.

In saying that, I would be happy with either as they are in a different league to the Dyson range (these win by far as suction goes/Dyson wins in maneuverability)

    • +1

Yeah I have only tested the Harvey Norman model and can say suction wise it was great. These still only weigh 3kg so quite maneuverable still and better suction than the dyson. Also quite a bit cheaper. and run time is about 2-3 times the dyson v6.

They emailed me a pdf comparison chart between the athlet models and it states everything is the same apart from colour and run-time also.

  • Can this be taken out of handle and used as a short hand stick to say, use in a car?

    • +1

I don't believe it can be shortened to handheld. I think this is more for home use to replace a corded vacuum cleaner without sacrificing suction power.

    • +1

I have the higher model of this which can do that, has a back strap and a vacuum pipe. Its awesome!

  • I have had this for about 12 months. Pretty good vacuum. Battery lasts about 15-20minutes on full power. Enough to do a quick run around

    • This exact model? Can you confirm if it has any accessories to go with it or just what you see and that's it? (would like to avoid getting another vacuum clearner to use brush/crevice device.)

  • Out of stock? :(

  • Great little unit this is and worth every dollar but word of advice be careful when leaving it upright - I thought I put it upright but it fell sideways, handle broke off and only the wires kept it in tact bit of duct tape and it is still usable but didn't seem to handle the fall very well - or I might just be unlicky.

  • I clicked and collected today. Very happy works a charm.
