Logitech UE Megaboom Wireless Speaker Black/Blue/Purple - $177 Click & Collect @ Officeworks

Cheapest I have seen so far, I am guessing a pricing error as it's exactly the same as the UE Boom 2.

Same price on their eBay store as well.

    • +2

C5OZ brings the price down to $168.15.

      • +5

Can't find it on their ebay store - do you have a link?

Edit. Ordered from OW site anyway didn't want to miss out ;)

      • There is also that new ebay code that gives 10%. PINCH. Kudos to Willyhitch

        EDIT: jokes, sold out.

Very good price. We paid $230ish on one of the Good Guys eBay sales a couple of years ago and it was well worth the money.

  • +2

Good price for the speaker. However i prefer the JBL charge 3 which can be a little cheaper and offer better sound plus the JBL is a power bank as well.

  • ebay is sold out?

  • +2

    Excellent price.

Great portable speaker for outdoors - balance of light weight, small form factor and large sound is it's key selling point.

Ok quality indoors, but a more conventional 2.1 design would give you better sound quality.

  • bought one click and collect at my local store

  • +1

    Great price!

I use mine every day and would definitely recommend for under $200. Download the app and play with the equaliser to improve the sound quality (I found it lacked bass on factory settings). Love being able to turn it on and off/up and down via the app. If it comes down to $150, I might even buy a second one and pair them both up.

    • I already have a UE boom 2 but I'll grab this as well and pair them up.

      • The Boom 2 and Megaboom have separate apps and I'm not sure you can actually pair them up. I tried it with my girlfriend's Boom 2 a while ago, but gave up pretty quickly, so don't take my word for it.

Even if they don't pair up, the Megaboom is still superior in every way to the Boom, aside from the obvious size difference and price. I would sell the Boom 2 if you didn't need it :P

        • +2

Can confirm I was able to pair up but the UE boom 2 and megaboom after firmware update. No issues at all.

        • @harkoliar:

Ah, cool. Will give it another go then!

          @Ayedeevee:

          Here's the instruction
You can also Double Up UE MEGABOOM with a UE BOOM that has been updated with the latest firmware.

Simply press the Bluetooth and + buttons simultaneously on the UE MEGABOOM.

Then press the Bluetooth button twice on the UE BOOM you want to add.

  • How does it compare in sound to say an iPhone dock such as Denon DSD500 Cocoon?

  • Can you plug in an ipod to this? All of my music is on an ipod that doesn't have Bluetooth.

    • Yep, you'll just need a 3.5mm jack. If you want the speaker to not auto turn off you'll just power supplied to the speaker.

    • Yes, it has a 3.5mm line input. BYO cable.

    • simple Aux cable connection. But you lose the point of it being a 'bluetooth speaker'

      • It doesn't completely lose the point if you have a small portable DAC or in his case an iPod full of music as it is still portable and there are not many non Bluetooth portable speakers with internal batteries around.

  • Been wanting to get one of these for ages, finally just pulled the trigger. Got a black one for $159 delivered through the Officeworks eBay store with the PINCH code. Cheers OP!

very good price. I bought for $199 earlier this year from one of the 20% off sales and it is amazing!

    Ignore comment

Awesome price, bought a black one. OP, thanks for sharing!

  • +1

I should not have bought the roll 2 in the last ebay sale, it was $50 I paid, Should I still consider to buy this one? I am guessing there are new modeling coming out

  • +3

If you're looking for sound quality as well as ruggedness, i'd suggest getting a JBL instead. This LogitechUE BT Speaker isn't that great to be honest in terms of sound.

    • +1

Yes. I can Second this. Having a JBL Charge 3 and it sound more punchy bass than my borther's Mega boom. Plenty of review online state this as well. JBL is around same price with big battery and can be use as a powerbank.

    • +1

You can get it for $179-180 on Bing Lee eBay

      Just use the "PINCH" code

  • Would love to buy this but I'd prefer the red one :( I'll wait then

  • All stock all stores sold out now. Some major brodening going on.

  • MEGABOOM 2 arriving soon.

  • +1

    Must have been a mistake
Glad I drove to town and got one from my local shop
Hope they honour everyone's online order
    Thanks op

  • I just got a refund notification. Looks like they won't be honouring the price error if you had it delivered.

    • +1

I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but I ordered this item from their website for $177, but after paying, they charged me $269. The checkout page showed $177.
Even the Officeworks receipt and online order tracking shows that I paid $177 but PayPal's transaction receipt shows that I definitely paid $269.
Trying to resolve this issue right now, so far not very pleased.

      • +1

I was trying to work out why everyone was going for click and collect. Now I know why. But it was free next day delivery. Hope they honour it…

        • I was stuck at work the whole day so couldn't go to my nearest Officeworks for cc.

      • Called up. They confirmed that it was a pricing error. Refunded.

      • Hey same thing happened to me. I actually did a click and collect, collecting it the same day and didnt realise that paypal had overcharged me until today. I called them up and they said I paid the correct price (268$) - even though they highlighted the discrepancy - I then said that that was not the correct advertised price nor the price in the invoice they emailed me. Told me too bad and to return the item if I didnt want it at the higher price….Unfortunately for them I used the product over the weekend (a fair bit already) and have since thrown away the packaging. Would like to see them try and refuse the return.

How did you fare? Any luck with a paypal dispute perhaps?

        • I received a refund for $92 (not the full amount) as they said that they had already dispatched the speaker.
PayPal dispute was declined by PayPal after an investigation, but the Officeworks call centre staff happily sorted everything out for me.

  • my closest one wouldnt :(
they said it was a price match so they wont switch it as thats whats now the price…
    will try the city store

  • +1

I went to JB Hi Fi with the $177 Officeworks Page in hand. They matched it for that price and I walked out of there.
I refreshed the page and see that Officeworks bumped the price back up.

    • didnt take a pic of it so we could use it too?

      • I can take a picture of the receipt when I get home for you to use.

  • +2

I bought online around 11am with click and collect. Just picked it up no problems at all. Thanks naomit81

  • wait, the decription in the ebay listing still shows 177. could use that to take to jb

    • Does JB match eBay Store price?

  • +1

who says you need to show the top of the page?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UE-Megaboom-Wireless-Speaker-Blac…
just scroll down and show them that part

    • I'm not sure if it would work??

      • doesnt hurt to try

        • I so want to, But I feel like i'd be unlucky. Maybe get served by some sus dude.

        • @TheRocketJosh: yeah same and I will have to try after work and go to the other side of the city

        • If it works for you i'll give it a try. have been sitting around waiting for a good megaboom deal!

  • wrong spot…

  • +1

    Good luck
    Sorry I couldn't help
Shame there's no instructions in the box
Suppose you just download the app and away you go

I bought an extra one for a friend who don't need it anymore. Anyone else need one? PM me.

    • If they refund my order… maybe. Are you in Perth?

      • Yeah. Been refunded :/

      • Nope in Sydney

    • aww your in sydney not melb
I could pay you to ship it to melb?

      • PM me please.

    • Pmed you concento

      • PM'd you back

  • I purchased online for next day delivery. Order was cancelled via email as "unable to source additional quantities of these items, making them no longer available for purchase".
Called up in store - can confirm there was stock available but they were not able to honour the price. Manager redirected me to the call centre, who were also not able to honour the price. -1 for Officeworks.

  • I bought one for $148 through Wireless1's ebay store a month ago. And more recently for $154 through another eBay seller. So they do get cheaper.

Never mind - just realised this is the megaboom!

  • I have a JBL Xtreme, I think that's the better one in the category. I got it for $290 odd on sale though so quite a price difference

    • I am impressed with the sound quality for the money if not the volume
Payed the neighbours back for their all night partying, so probably a good sign
Don't reakon I'd want to pay any more than this for one though

  • The official officeworks ebay store links still show $177
Wonder if it would work if I tried to price match with my local Jb hi-fi?

edit - moments after I mention the post the listing ended. Still might work..

  • Mine just arrived this morning! :)

  • anyone in the newcastle region want one message me

  • +2

Mine arrived this morning, my housemate has a JBL Charge 3 and we've been comparing them. I was already (and still am) very impressed with the JBL, but I don't understand the negative comments regarding the Megaboom's sound quality. The Megaboom sounds excellent for what it is, better than expected in fact. Just EQ some of the mud out - just as the JBL needs tweaking. Positioning and EQ is highly key. While different, I wouldn't really say either is inferior overall, but on ideal scenario sound quality alone I'd have to favour the Megaboom. As a negative, the Megaboom has a clear increased sensitivity to positioning, but it's really not that difficult to quickly identify a sweet spot in any given setting. Haven't had it long enough to compare battery life, but no issues so far. The Charge 3 is more intelligible at close range, but the Megaboom sounds much nicer from a further distance and between rooms with a fuller sound and nicer low mids. For very close range listening the Megaboom benefits from narrowing the stereo width of the input, or even just switching completely to mono - easy to find a player that supports this but seems like a feature they could/should add with an app update. However, using a decent player will obviously offer you much greater EQ control etc anyway.

tl;dr - Would buy again. If both are at RRP prices the JBL is a winner, but at this price the Megaboom is the obvious choice. I suspect the naysayers haven't actually spent any time with it.
