        IT SAYS COUPON INVALID

        • gold.

    • Needs to be in caps ANNIVERSARY20

Good price. For anyone who wants to buy, you must be logged in and have adblock off to ensure an easy buying process. Myer hates adblock.

    • Yes had BlockBear enabled on my phone. Needed to disable to see payment details and coupon inputs

      • i cant seem to find blockbear on GPlay

  • +1

Sweet. Grabbed a pair to use with my S8+.

    • +12

I just use my lightning ear phones with a 3.5mm adapter in my S8+

      • I really hope you're not joking here. I'm trying to do exactly this but can't seem to be able to find a lightning to 3.5mm adapter…

        • +12

Pretty sure I'm joking. I haven't made a constructive comment here in the last 8 years.

Edit: well that's all about to change. They don't exist due to technical reasons. They could be manufactured but would be clumsy and require a power supply.

          From some google search

to provide a female Lightning connector and a male 3.5mm plug would make it possible to connect Lightning headphones to a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. However, this would mean converting the audio signal from analog to digital and back again.

        • +2

@TightBottom: haha. well done.. in that case you got me good…

        • Sounds like a massive hassle. Just buy some normal 3.5mm earphones?

        • it's more for the JBL Aware that I got in this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/318125

  • +9

Seen a few people wearing these. Sorry but they just look ridiculous. In a few years I'm sure we'll look back and laugh!

    • +6

Haha yeah like how we laughed at that stupid looking iPhone without any tactile keys, or that stupid looking iPad that's just an oversized iPhone that can't even make calls.

      • -7

steve jobs dead… the vision died with him so you can't keep using the iphone example

        • +1

These are just an interim thing until Apple are able to deliver something that's just earbud size that works reliably. That's the point of the elongated toothbrush style of thse abominations.

There are now dozens of such wireless buds available, I haven't seen a single one going the Apple route.

Once Apple crack the tech of not requiring the toothbrush to provide the antenna you can be sure this design will be ditched.

    • +5

I imagine we will look back and laugh at people with wires hanging out of their ears

  • +1

This doesnt stay at my ear, probably something wrong with me ear shape ;)

    • +9

      at my ear

This! You need to put it in your ear, not at your ear.

      • They've been putting it in their rear? What??

  • +1

Afterpay is not available for Apple branded products in case anyone was hoping.

    • +1

It does exist. After you receive them you'll wonder why you paid so much.

      • C'mon folks, I'm an Apple fan too but it was funny. +from me

  • +1

Thanks, been waiting for this! :)

  • +5

$200 for wireless earphones that look like they should be free. Not a bargain

    • +2

They sound like they should be free too.

    • lol apple fanboys voting down

  • +12

Looking at the price, kinda glad i bought the Bose QC35 for $250 a while back

    • Qc35 is headphone, sweat a lot Without air conditioner and pretty heavy. Can't use it in gym or jogging.
Will never buy Bose headphone again after I sold qc25 after a couple of use, useless.

      • +1

i guess depends on usage but the point i was trying to make is that those air pods probably cost $2 to make and you have to pay a gazillion % markup whereas for another $40 I got a well made, comfortable, noise cancelling headphones.

If I was going to spend $200, I would sure check the value of the actual product. For gym or jogging I wouldn't wear air pods, I would probably go for like a jaybird or jabra bluetooth.

        • +2

It's much better than your thought. Pls don't make any comments if u never own or try, very biased.
The main issue is no noise cancelling. Otherwise pretty good especially seamless with iphone. I have jaybird but I don't like the wire and the battery charge.

        • +3

          @scratchback:

I think you're missing the point. I'm only talking about the value of these earpieces. I'm comparing them to the QC35 based on dollar and functionality. From the outside, you're purchasing 2 tiny oral b looking pieces for $209 whereas for $250 I got a top of the range headphones with leather cups and noise cancellation.

I'm not making prejudiced comments towards them. Apple have been making premium, overpriced products and I own an iPhone and iPad. I'm pretty sure they're nice to wear, hear and use. No need to be so defensive about a product you own, each to their own.

        • +1

@designate: I think the comparison to qc35s is moot. Qc35s by all accounts are still lacking in sound quality compared to other headphones even at $250 (eg Phillips fidelio x2s), and they probably also cost very little to make despite their size. What they do they very well though, is sound cancellation just as AirPods are excellent at their purpose, ultra portability.

        • +1

          @cheng2008:

I do not own a Phillips so I can't comment on sound quality but the price point for the airpods is still debatable. There are also other wireless earbuds that do the purpose such as Jabra Elite Sport, LG Tone Free. Like I said, I'm sure the AirPods is a very nice thing to have, just boils down to the purpose of your purchase.

        • @designate: those earphones you mention seem to be more expensive than the airpods, or at least similar in price. which suggests that the airpods are actually quite appropriately priced, maybe even somewhat cheap.

        • @crentist:

comparing portability of other wireless earbuds, not the price.

"just as AirPods are excellent at their purpose, ultra portability."

        • @designate: I thought you were originally talking about their value. Comparing their value to the competition makes sense.

        • @crentist:
As the posts evolved, so did the conversation haha

        • +1

          @designate:

I think if you had a professional job where you had to make a lot of calls and you were walking around a lot the airpods would be great. I use the qc25s for call but I don't roam the street talking into because I'd look like a complete nonce. The airpods are great and unobtrusive in a professional office setting

        • +2

At the end of the day you're paying for the brand which means a certain quality product. Bose and Apple have been around for years just like Sony, Jabra, Samsung etc… Putting my engineering hat on, all components or technology designed, manufactured and sold by these companies are of a certain quality and you'd expect higher quality by some over the others. Quality IMO is determined by predictability, consistency and availability of the product.
Predictable: Does the phone/headphone work as I expect it to?
Consistent/availability: Is there any downtime experienced with the product (i.e. Reliability)? E.g. Microsoft phones have more downtime than iphones or Samsungs. Apple air pods connect seamlessly while generic ones may connect/disconnect overtime and start showing problems.

        • @designate: haha fair enough

  • +6

Have it since Christmas and seriously cant live without it. Love using it in one ear while laying down, pure convenience.

    • +6

      You don't like stereo?

      • +2

He/she probably likes listening to The Beatles' "Please Please Me" a lot.

      • You don't like stereo?

        Nopes, not while watching porn.

        • Does it recreate your experience of constantly looking to one side during sex? I'm confused

  • +5

I still can't get over how silly they look.

    • +5

Use a neck strap if you're feeling self-conscious.

      • Kind of defeats the purpose of wire-free design. Though it is more secure.

    • -2

(To lostn) Highly useful comment. I'm glad you showed interest and took the time to come here and tell us these things……

      • +1

        Likewise.

  • +6

Sooo tempting. I'll have another glass of wine and think about it.

    • Ah the wine twisted my arm. I already own some Plantronics Backbeat Fit bluetooth headphones, but the stap across the back of my head annoys me. It flaps around when I walk and run. I can get a bit back by selling them anyway, to easy the $209 purchase pain.

  • +12

To all the people who think these look silly. Whilst I can understand that, maybe you shouldn't be so self conscious.

When the sony walkman first came out in 1979-80, my Mum bought me one home from a trip to the UK. I had one of the first in Oz. I stupidly didn't use it as I thought it looked silly. The next year everyone was wearing them, and for a good reason. They were a great way of listening to music on the move. I basically missed out on a massive change in the industry cos I didn't think it was cool at the time.

I don't have the airpods, but it seems that those who do rave about them and how convenient they are. Seems a shame that people miss out because they are so worried about what people think.

    • Photo or it didn't happen.

Edit: photo not required. Just reread story and realised it didn't happen. Nearly 40 years on and as humans we still regret these missed opportunities. I still miss my Tandy cassette player (could not afford afford a Sony)

    • "Do my ears look big in these?"

      • No, but you'll look like a complete tosser

    • +1

Walkman was popular back then because there was nothing better. There eventually would be.

Just as there eventually will be something that doesn't look as silly as Airpods. Actually there already are, but they aren't made for iPhones.

      Think earbuds without the tips.

      • Actually there already are, but they aren't made for iPhones.

what are they and do they work as well or in similar ways to airpods?

Yeah of course things will get better, that's only natural. As with walkman and as will be with airpods. Good ideas get expanded on and improved.

If you wanna wait then that's fine, my point is people get too hung up on looks and what people think and as a result, they often miss out on things that may otherwise benefit them.

        • +1

          Here are your alternatives.

I can't comment on whether they perform better, I'm only saying they don't look as silly as having mini electric toothbrush heads hanging out of your ears.

If looks matter to you more than performance and function, that's what you would look into.

        • @lostn:

Thanks for the link. Looks like some decent options out there.

Still, at this stage I think the airpods are in a league of their own when it comes to practicality.

I'm not sold without trying them. I have doubts about they sound and how I would like the fit.

For that reason if I get some it'll be from Apple so I can return if I don't like them.

  • +10

It's the best Bluetooth earphones ever. Really can't go out without it. Use it everyday lunch time and during calls. Audio quality is great for Bluetooth headset as it utilise AAC codec instead of SBC (for supported devices). Call audio quality and mic noise cancellation is superb. Don't need to worry about battery either, just charge the case once a week.
For the price, You can't find a Bluetooth stereo headset with no wire, great connectivity and similar call voice quality.

  • I thought the ANNIVERSARY coupon codes didnt work on Apple stuff?

  • Don't these sound the same as the original Apple EarPods that were always thought of as basically garbage compared to any remotely "decent" pair of earphones/headphones?
How are people buying them at this price OR the RRP?
I thought it was a joke when i first saw these announced (and their price)

(I own the original earpods and in spite of the general consensus, personally think they sound quite good, use them every day for hours)

    • +1

If you're happy with the sound of the Earpods, then you should be happy with this. The only consideration is the price.

I own the original earpods and in spite of the general consensus, personally think they sound quite good

I personally think that's crazy, but to each their own. If you never listen to anything else, I can see that.

      • I used the original wired ones 'til I got bought some klipsch ($100 wired) and sennheiser ($80 wired). Made me realise how junk the apples were. If these sound the same then I just can't fathom the +ve votes on this thread.

    • These are better, especially in bass. Nowhere near as good as a pair of headphones at this price of course, but it's infinitely more portable than any headphone. And that's the main purpose, portability.

  • Could anyone tell me which Myer to pick up?i only found warringah is available but not very close. Any other close to city?

    • George street Myer is available for me to pickup. At least when I order it.

  • +1

A lot more people would be using these if the price was half of this, including me

    • Could say that about any apple product

      • I'd get an ipad if they weren't so restrictive. The price is right atm

  • There's no values in the Quantity drop down. Ad block turned off. Maybe they've run out

    • Fixed. Click on any link and go back. It was the link from OzB that broke it

Ordered 2 pairs as I will be oversea soon and can claim $19 gst to make it $190. I may put one on gumtree for $219.

    • +1

Ordered 2 pairs as well, one pair for my wife, one for myself. Will do tax claim as well. Good deal.

  • lol, surely this is a bargain!!!!!!

  • Is it expired?
"You need to be over to purchase this item"

EDIT: fixed went through Myer link, but can't checkout!
EDIT: Changed the browser and it worked! Got one for my wife's birthday.

  • does myer allow any return window like apple's 14 days ?

    • Would you mind buying someone's used & returned earphones?

      • No, I won't buy them. Thats why the question here.

Personally, I don't think they would allow returns on earphones.

Not sure how Apple does it, refurbish ?

        • yeah, I'm thinking it might be better to but from apple, try em out and at least have a return option if I don't like the sound or the fit

  • +3

Managed to haggle JB Hi-Fi down to $215 a week ago and don't regret it. First Apple product I bought in years as I have largerly avoided the pricey Apple ecosystem but they just work on my Android phone, etc. Part of the reason they don't fall out of my ears easily is that they weigh so little, of course I don't jog … wearing them.

  • Placed an order yesterday. Today received an email show being out of stock.:(

    • There's heaps at Waringah Mall

    • Placed an order a day after you did, order still showing "in progress" so not sure if they'll send me an email too :(

  • Bit the bullet… let's see how convenient they turn out to be. Thanks OP

have both these and QC35s, great combination
