Liked it better when these were a dollar.

  • +4

yehhh i know its still a good deal but once you've been spoilt by the $1 price… this doesnt seem as good.

  • so i got like four the last time it was $1. can I still grab these? Im not a new customer anymore?

    • +1

yes u can grab as many as you like. just sign up as a new number.

      • thank you!

  • Why oh why do Kogan have to use Vodafone's network… Great deal on paper but Vodafone's coverage for me is the worst of the telcos..

    • +3

Because it's cheap and they're Kogan.

  • And not sure if it's just my local VF network being quite congested (or Kogan throttles), tethering was only 1/4 the speed of a Telstra service…

    • Depends on your location.
I could get 2MB/s in city at night time.
Could barely hit 600KB/s in my home.

  • Just to share:
Activated Kogan SIM and ported my mobile number. After 7 hours, porting still has not happened. Called Kogan CS (overseas call centre) and doesn't have a clue why the delay and told me to wait for 24 hours on the outcome of their investigation. Told him that this is not acceptable as Kogan website states that porting will usually be completed within 3 business hours unless it is a Sunday or a public holiday. Delays can occur but did not say need to wait for 24 hours investigation. Never had such problems with Amaysim, Optus, Woolworths Mobile. Still waiting…not happy.

    • Mine was ported in under 10 minutes.

      • Good for you, mate. CS supervisor called me to say delay is due to Optus outages and a number of porting is affected. Cannot tell me when the issue would be resolved. Which provider are you porting from ?

        • +3

Mine was ported in under 10 minutes.

Did you refuse to park at the drive through?

        • Yeah I had an issue porting this week. Ported out of optus but didn't port into kogan. Took over a day to get fixed. Been regular speed (to port) in the past.

        • @chickenface: Thanks. Looks like issue with Optus then.

        • @F1ngolf:
nope. 12 hours after optus released my number i could accept calls on kogan but not make calls or use internet. eventually they fixed it.

        • @chickenface: On my porting from Optus, it did not happen within the Kogan's internal target of 3 business hours. According to CS, Kogan's internal process will escalate such cases to the porting team for investigation which may take up to 24 hours. CS supervisor told me delay was due to an outage with Optus based on internal memo.

        • @F1ngolf: Just received a Welcome to Kogan mobile SMS. Finally, porting is completed 30 hours after initiation of porting process.

Bad data network. Avoid if possible!

    • +5

Might be bad for you, others including me would tell you a different story

      • +2

i've had a couple of areas where voda network has actually been far superior to optus network (i port all the time so get to experience all the networks coverage). all depends where you are

        • +1

Agreed, I've tried all three and Optus is definitely the worst of the bunch (for me)

    • +2

I've used several of these and it was fine. Like every provider, it varies by location.

  • On it right now and can confirm reception is terrible. Often no connection inside buildings.

    • -3

      Go outside then

      • Geez are you a kogan shill?! Others can have opinions mkay

        • -1

It depends on your location, didn't think that was hard to understand.

Once the voucher comes in the inbox, it has this in the TnCs:

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/10/2017.

  • So I have a current 365 day prepaid with Kogan and I have registered my email with them. Have 2 mates coming to Australia in a few weeks and this would be perfect for them - would there be any issues setting it up for them with new numbers - would Kogan regognise my email address and block the numbers by any chance?

    • +1

No. Pretty sure you need Australian ID to activate (any sim) though.

  • +2

so.. i may have bought one too many $1 deals last time. got one that expires tonight.. anyone want? PM for code

  • +2

    Heh, first $1, then 4.90, 9.90, 14.90 and then 19.90 until original amount :P

  • I stacked two $1 last time, trying to active today and failed. Checking my email and found that they just expired last night :(

    • send them an email, being respectful and say that you were out of town and couldnt activate it. Acknowledge its your own fault but ask if they can do anything about it for goodwill. And if not, its all good and appreciate their time reading your email.

I did this with one of my codes and they gave me a replacement =)

      • +1

        Thanks.
I just bought two from OVO instead :-)

  • What happens after 1 month? Do you still pay 9.90 permonth after?

    • This is for 1 month prepaid basically. After that you are left with no calls/data until you recharge with a different voucher.

      • can still receive calls I assume

  • These short expiry vouchers are limiting. 12 months vouchers would be nice.

  • Does anyone know if I can easily charge up using the yearly Kogan deal after the month finishes?

    • Yup. I just finished my last $1-or-so 14gb 30-day voucher yesterday (11:59pm) and this morning recharged with an earlier deal's 10gb 365-day voucher (which happened to be expiring today). All good until 31/08/2018.

You just need make sure you use the recharge coupon by its expiry date, which may be earlier than the end of your 30 days, and keep in mind the credit expiry doesn't stack but resets from the recharge date.
