1180

A friendly reminder that kids get to eat fruit for free at Woolworths.

Woolworths, the fresh food people, is giving kids the chance to eat their favourite fruit for free when they visit the supermarket.

Kids will be encouraged to grab fruit such as mandarins, apples and bananas and enjoy it while their parent or carer shops.

    Free Fruit for Kids

It's been free all year… Where have you been ?

    • +9

I've made it quite clear that I'm aware.

      • -4

So is pretty much everybody shopping at Woollies… They're at the entrance with a huge sign.

Something that is always free is not a freebie.

        • +10

Feel free to neg the deal.

        • +3

          @jv:

Not going to argue with you. Here's the link to TWAM.

        • +11

          @ronnknee:

I'm sure jv knew where to find that link and didn't need a reminder

        • +2

          @Spackbace: Awesome response

      • Then why post for?

        • Another member has explained this more beautifully than I could.

        • -2

          @ronnknee:

This is rwdiculous can you please make a deal that theres a free water bubbler at a park cos its free water.

    • +13

      Where have you been ?

At woolies getting his fruit :)

    • +11

      I shop primarily at Coles…

I had no idea that Woolworths was running something like this, so useful for me. Nothing wrong with a reminder from time to time.

      • Nothing wrong with a reminder from time to time.

But this is a site for bargains, not reminders.

        • +7

Nice way to take my comment out of context.

It's a reminder to some, and to others, it is a brand new bargain as they've never seen it before. Regardless of how long something runs for, if it's still a bargain after 20 years, then it's still a bargain. It doesn't just magically stop because some arbitrary amount of time has passed.

Do you understand now, or would you like me to try and dumb it down some more?

        • +2

          @PhilipJWitow:

Nice way to take my comment out of context.

          I quoted the whole sentence.

        • +5

          @jv:
But you did not quote the whole paragraph

      • I've noticed in the past few weeks my local Coles in VIC has started to do free fruit for kids too. It is a small basket at kids height that moves around the entrance area (sometimes near the deli sometimes in the fruit and veg section). Next time you shop ask if they have it too.

    • Even longer than that for one of our local Woolies.

  • +19

    The sky is blue

Just in case you needed a reminder

    • -1

      lol

      • I still see blue

    • +6

Keep acting like a kid and you might also get a free fruit.

      • +6

        Yay!

I'd almost forgotten that I could get it, thanks for the reminder ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Remember to wipe your bum after you do number two.

      Yes, I'm a poet
      and I know it.

    • Not in Beijing.

  • same at Coles

    • +3

which one? ours doesn't have them.

      • +35

everyone if you are brave enough

      • I've noticed not all Coles have then too - from limited observation maybe lower socio-economic areas?

        • i've never seen it at any of the coles i have been to in the greater sydney area

      • The Coles in Coburg (Sydney Rd) now has it (apparently started last month). My kids, used to stocking up @ Woolies went to raid the fruit section and I was tell them stop
.when a staff member showed ua where they are (next to the apples in the fruit & veg area (not in the entrance like Woolies).

        • I wish Coles did this every store. I prefer their network/Kmart over Woolies/BigW

    • +2

5 finger discount is not the same ;)

    • Hmm that's weird. My son always point me to get him free banana at Coles in Altona Gate. I'll check out if it's different at Coles in Altona and Altona Meadows next time I visit.

    • +2

My coles has free zooper doopers for the kids…in winter.

    • never seen a coles with a free anything..

      • +1

Coles and Woolworths both have free trolleys, sometimes they cost a dollar though.

  • +9

for once I agree with JV!

This isn't a deal, its always been free.

      • So this applies to Toffee Apples as well right?
        Because they're 95% fruit !

        • +4

And my favourite fruit - wine ๐Ÿท

        • +3

So this applies to Toffee Apples as well right?

and apple juice then… (100% apple of course…)

        • +4

@jv: BWS were really upset with me for drinking strongbows straight from the fridge

      • @ronnknee….. Oh you want to pull that card, so looking at the gods listing rules, this deal would then fall under the "DO NOT post duplicate deals.", as the OP pointed out, this has been posted 3 times already!

        • Go on, keep reading.

          Exceptions:

The original deal is active but older than 6 months.

        • @ronnknee: So now we need to be reminded every 6 months for something that has been active AND FREE instore for 2+ years!?

Better start posting 'free water' deals for the drinking fountain around the corner then!

        • -1

          @JimmyF:

Look buddy, I'm sick of this crap that I'm getting. I didn't write the guidelines. If you don't agree with them, feel free to TWAM or contribute in the Comments / Feedback / Suggestions thread.

          No need for the mockery.

        • @ronnknee: or people could just use their brains and not post crap that makes it to the front page like this.

I'm all for reminders of great deals, but lets be honest, this isn't a 'deal', it isn't a new thing, it has never stopped being free, it isn't a HIDDEN instore deal, the signs are very in your face as you enter the store, and this deal has been covered off before a few times. Did we really need a reminder?

If you have kids and shop at woolies, you already know about it!

        • @JimmyF:

Did we really need a reminder?

There's at least 85 people who disagree with you.

        • @ronnknee: there are a lot of sheep here who just click the plus button to any deal.

I'm sure if I posted my 'free' water deal I would get a bunch of up votes as well.

        • @JimmyF:

I don't believe you. Do it and prove me wrong.

        • @ronnknee: meh, I refuse to add more crap deals like this one, just to prove you wrong.

        • @JimmyF:

          You're not proving anything.

However, the fact that this deal was initially reported to be dupe or not a deal or whatever, but the reports have been dismissed by the mods proves that this deal is indeed valid and therefore I'm not wrong.

        • @ronnknee: hahaha well you'll be able to frame that and hang it on the wall then.

Still, doesn't mean this is a crap deal that shouldn't be on the front page!

        • +2

          @JimmyF:

doesn't mean this is a crap deal

          I agree on this.

  • +4

I always go woolies shopping with my parents ;)

  • Do they mind it adults take one too?

    • You can Eat rather then taking.

    • +2

well my kid gets a banana, takes one bite and decides they don't want it…
I'm not going to ditch it. waste not!

      • +1

I think you found the loophole!!

      • +1

        Sames

  • +2

I've trained my kids to grab eye fillets for free at Woolies. They need to balance their fruit with some red meat.

  • +15

Not free. The prerequisite of having a kid costs a fortune!

    • +4

No that's wrong, the deal is clearly [Targeted].

    • +1

Ah good reminder, I enjoy them so much that I forget about DAT cost

Last year same deal had 162+ votes. Even 8 months ago it received 61+ votes .. where were everyone who is making lots of noise today :)

Nothing again you @Spackbace .. but you also posted this deal two weeks ago as you thought it worthy of a rehash

    • Yep, but 2 years apart vs 7 months

Not to mention that free fruit for kids is in your face the minute you go into WW!

      • +1

Exactly what I was thinking Unavailable, I love your deals Spackbace but you do the same, no need to mock others doing the same as you.
        Spackbace Twoface?

        • +1

          I prefer

          Taserface

        • @Spackbace: Shooting down unworthy deals?

        • @AJW:

Haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

    • -5

Thanks for your support. Haters gotta hate.

  • +16

    Not true!
Took my young goat to woolies for a free feed ๐Ÿ…
    and they called security ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

    • I think you do have children because that was a massive Dad joke.

      • +1

        Not true!
But dedicated to a wonderful 79 year old man I met in hospital on Monday. Was helping him use his new Huawei P9 mobile. He corrected me when I said "When I was a kid…". He'll love I turned it into a Dad Joke ๐Ÿƒ

  • +14

Free toilet paper in public toilets.

    • +6

Is this targeted? I'm not seeing it.

    • +5

Free toilet paper in public toilets.

      Direct link to deal…

      • If this free-fruit gets a Deal-Repost, then that crap you just posted also deserves a Deal Page.

  • +2

One of my favourite deals, the comments and personalities we have here makes me laugh daily.
Edit: Still not worth the repost.

  • can we grab the organic fruits instead of the waxy unwashed bruised apples?

    • Supposedly none are waxed anymore… makes it harder to spot the bruises

    • Woolworths will tell you that fruit for kids is washed.

      • It is washed, in DDT and store hand worker sweat from picking them up barehanded all day.

        • And they place it directly next to the open-top bin. Very hygienic.

I play it safe and go for bananas with their natural skin.. Mmm

  • -7

This deal should be negged as everyone is paying for freeloading parents. There is not even a requirement to purchase anything in the store.

IT would be like bragging about being able to download the latest album off Freegal for free. It is not a freebie as the local library through the funds of government are paying for it.

    • -1

Go ahead and neg it. Don't just talk about it.

      • As you can see he is 'neverhappy'

      • So you have never complain about the cost of groceries? Find that hard to believe. Unless our supermarkets have secret fruit trees out the back it is costing every customer for every freeloader.

  • +1

    Durians included?

    • +6

Yes, ALL nationalities can get the free fruit…

    • Durians are not allowed inside the Singapore subway.

  • +1

    "Ongoing deal"

Why bother to post it then?
What if everyone starts posting "ongoing deals"< which are not exactly deals?
    I would call it spam.

    • Feel free to post any other ongoing deals, people will downvote/ not upvote if they're 'not exactly deals'. Clearly this one isn't 'not exactly a deal' if it's on the front page..
