hmm…more than meets the eye with this USB stick bargain.

talk about useless gadgets that you MUST HAVE!!

  • "initial viewing on a given device must take place by 31.12.2010"

So after that date you can't watch the movie anymore?

    • does anyone know how this works?

      • I think the movie is on the Flash drive and needs to be activated before that date to view it?

        • Flash Drive includes full version of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen movie
        • Special 4GB ‘insignia’ USB stick with 3GB free storage
        • Hmmm 1G for a movie that runs for 2.5hrs. The quality will be terrible.

  • +6

This is why people still want physical media - no strings attached.

    • Physical media is a pain, plenty of strings.
Copyright warnings you're forced to watch, can't skip etc…

The best format is one that is platform independent and without DRM at all.
But no one is willing to take a chance at offering it.

  • +3

wow…thats really cool. I want it. the only problem. the movie is SO crap

    • -2

Agree; if it was just the USB still for $11.50 - would buy! But I'm not supporting this insanely terrible movie.

      • Given the binary format, does this movie now count as shovelware? :p

  • +1

If you're not attached to the particular movie, ozgameshop.com (365games.co.uk) has 4GB flash drives with Terminator 3, Ghostbusters or some Michael Jackson thing for AU$9.99 each including delivery.

    • but its just a normal flash drive..that too by integral. No fancy artwork or collector's edition.

  • +4

It's DRMd rubbish like this that caused the creation of xvid.

    • Poor Circuit City! :p

  • do u think the movie can be deleted from the usb? is it a decent price ($11.50) for a 4gb USB Drive?

    • Grab it if you like the styling, its different, kinda a novelty, but still cool. However, usb wise, its pretty crap, 10mb/s read speeds, 3mb/s write speeds. You can get a way better USB stick for slightly more coin.

  • yeah umm…uhh…well…bought one.

  • Does it cost more if I want the thumb drive without the movie on it??

    • +4

Being able to delete the atrocity is part of the purchase satisfaction!

  • nice, just grab one by using paypal.

    around 15.4 dollars.

    cheers AUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • its $15.40 because of the different currency exchange fee?

  • hey guys, don't mean to advertise other bargains on this one, but just incase anyone missed it.

just posted: Venqua 4GB USB for $11.98 delivered.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32486

  • Only cost me $19.83 AUD for 2 delivered; paid via Paypal! Couldn't resist. Christmas is coming up afterall, and I do have a few birthdays coming too - will decide who gets what later! Nice price. Thanks, will have some happy friends! (And for the record, none of the guys I know watch Transformers 1 or 2 for the good acting or great storyline!) ;p

    • +1

Well make sure they watch their movie straight away or it will deactivate on the 31st..

    • +2

Yeah, they have to watch it (activate it) before new years day, or it won't play.
Gotta love DRM, imposing impractical restrictions on something you paid for. Sigh..

      • +2

Which I guess means you have to be on the internet to watch the movie too… not a problem for most (here) but such a bad concept.

        • +1

Gosh sounds harsh! Thanks for telling me that!
Maybe I'll open both and activate them myself before gifting! lol

          • +3

@scarletshoes: That may be problematic, the DRM will probably prevent it from being played on any other device that it wasn't activated on (which is typically stupid for geeks who like to format their computer regularly, i used to do it every 6 months, don't have the time anymore)

Which is why i refuse to take part in their farce.

You could always obtain a copy of it by dubious methods (after all you did buy it you should have the right to get a working copy) and put that on the stick.

            • @TrendyTim: This DRM sounds like total bull!! Grrr! I guess I'll keep one myself then as I haven't watched Transformers 2 yet.. (although from the feedback on this forum, sounds like I didn't miss much! hah!) The other I'll still give away….. but now my great buy has bitter aftertaste =(

              • @scarletshoes: Let me preface this by reiterating that I am not a role model! ;)

Format them, download a nice BRrip copy of the movie that fits on the drives & whack that sucka on there! There is also a serendipitous up-side to this plan, you will not have to sit thru dopey anti-piracy ads & sketchy trailers to see your movie! :p

In your situation, I see no ethical dilemma! ;)

Bought one for my Son's reward, he'll be happy, Thanks OP

  • Off topic.. those Lacie 'key' drives any good? Heard the ImaKey is pretty crap but the whizkey and cookey (mymemory dont have it) are better and made of steel.. whizkey seems hard to get here and is pricey.. Cheers

  • They are trying to get into Guiness Book of Records with the world's largest usb drive.

  • Lost interest in mymemory when they canned the free shipping and started charging 1.95gbp.

    • even after you added that shipping fee it's only 11.5AUD….cheap!bought one!

  • at least its a bit cheaper than they are selling them for on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Transformers-2-USB-Flash-Drive-4GB-in…

  • +1

The FlashDrive is of a Autobot insignia.

What if I'm Bad @ss and wanna be a Deceptacon?

  • Ordered as a xmas gift for a collector friend who probably won't even open/use/watch it :)

  • +1

    Is it no longer 11.50AUD?
I'm seeing 7.95 pound shipping cost to Australia, making it 12.94 pounds total.

    • It still is Standard Delivery £1.95
International Recorded Delivery £7.95 — Insured (Signature required on delivery).
Just checked right now after I read your post.

  • has anyone received the package? I can't activate the movie, the website (http://promo.divx.com/transformers/) keeps on saying the code is invalid.

    • Me neither!!! What's up with that =/ I put my code and it works but everytime I try to view my movie on my laptop using the divx player I downloaded, it says: "You are not authorised to file ….. is not associated with your divx account"

  • I hope the Star Trek one has the same discount, and I'd buy it straightaway haha
