Please only buy if you need this monitor, allow others who have missed out on previous monitor deals a chance to buy, there is likely 100-130 units left.

klaw81: Buyer beware! These screens are prone to becoming dull and having colour distortions as they age - particularly an uneven yellowish tint over parts of the screen. Some compensation can be made by adjusting colour settings etc. It's a great way to get a 1440p screen very cheaply, but don't expect it to be even vaguely colour-accurate.

Source: I have one of these screens from a similar deal. A friend has two as well. All 3 screens have different, uneven yellow discolouration.

  • what's the RRP?

These were $1200 when released in early 2011. These screens are likely to be 5+ years old and have yellow tint issues. See below.

      • I thought it was a 2010 model…

        • As best I can tell, they were only available in Australia in early 2011. But there are reviews from the US in late 2010, so it's hard to tell exactly. It was around then…

        • @klaw81:

Nah mate, FWIW I bought one new from Dell Oz around September/October 2010 when they were just released.

Mine doesn't have tint issues, but I've in a while the left half of the screen becomes garbled and needs power off for a few minutes to fix. Seems more prevalent if using displayport

These aren't sold new any more. Was released in 2010 at a RRP of $1,199.00. Being used no mention of condition or how these were used. Still expensive for a used monitor of that age with no stand and unknown panel condition.

Ah crap. Bought before I read this.

      • There's a money-back warranty for 7 days - be prepared to use it if you're not happy.

I'm still using mine - I've managed to remove most of the yellow tint with colour calibration and other adjustments. But when you put it next to another screen, the difference is quite evident.

        • Thanks mate. Appreciate the thoughts. Also, not sure why I got a down vote.

  • Thanks for letting us know klaw81.

    • +1

No worries - I'm happy to share my experience.

Something else to note: these are very heavy screens - about 10.5 kg (with stand) according to Dell's specs. You will need a fairly robust stand/arm to support it.

      • It says
7.72 kg with stand + cables?

  • For less than $200 for a 10-bit panel, I'm willing to risk it.

The ebay listing says the seller has a 7-day returns period, so if the panel looks like garbage, I'll explore that avenue.

    • U have 180 day return period on eBay regardless of what the seller says. If you use.paypal

Looks like a buy you will regret…

I needed another monitor, I would like to have an UHD display but could never afford it and I need to upgrade because my 24inch has a number of black led blobs when I spilled a drink over it a few weeks ago. There were other people in another monitor thread needing to upgrade, I didn't expect there might be issues with the monitors, but regardless I need a another monitor, only other option is using my $200 to buy another 24" HD display, no I would prefer a 27" UHD with some possible discolouration for $200.

  • Anywhere we can get the stand for this?

    • VESA

    • It uses the standard vesa mount. You can get them from officeworks.

      • Thanks for info guys wasn't aware of what VESA was haha.

tsimop I'm wondering this too I'd prefer to get the original Dell one if possible but seeing as it's an older monitor doubt they still have them

    • So, which stand are we all getting?

  • +2

I think the tinting issue might be overblown, I checked the ebay feedback for the monitors and they all seem to be positive, I only looked at the first pages of feedback thou.

"The best customer service I have ever experienced on ebay
Received in good order. Thank you!
Amazing price, very well packed for shipping such an item Thoroughly recommend!
Bought 2 screens. 1 was perfect. Good price.
    Smooth and simple, recommended.
Super quick shipping and monitors are exactly as described. A+
Great Monitor for the price. Was delivered when stated. Would by from again
As described, works perfectly, bargain price, great transaction!"

  • Neither of the coupons in the op are working for me, am I doing something wrong?

    • I have not tested them, when I created the post ozbargain said to copy and paste them in.

Don't rush the purchase thou, I think you have plenty of time to order, when I posted 2 hours ago, there was 142 sold and now it is at 153 sold and 60% sold. I don't think it will sell out for some time yet.

  • I used this model for CAD/REVIT design on my home PC and I prefer it over the newer monitors at work when using REVIT/AutoCAD.

eBAY listed mentions no stand - HA! Dealbreaker!!!!

  • Tempting but cbf to return it if faulty :/

  • +1

Thanks op, grabbed 2 for use with my dual Aldi mount which currently have some 23" screens on them. If they have a bad tint I'll send back if not happy days :)

  • Beware it has a CCFL backlight

They have a much more limited life compared to LED and these would have serious hours on them

    • These comments are really discouraging me from a purchase :( Anyone have any decent suggestions for 200 bucks?

      • People will begin receiving their monitors around Wednesday so I expect people will post what they think and if was good deal. I believe there has been around 20 purchases from the deal. Before looking for another monitor, see what people think first, I'm sure it will be fine as I read feedback on ebay for them.

        • Yes good point, I just worry about the lifespan as mentioned further up thread the CCFL backlight sounds limited :(

        • +1

@bloobat: Mine had 22000 hours with no signs of yellow tinge of deterioration.

        • @Ragnarok1983: That's heaps of hours, can't wait to check mine when it arrives, I took a monitor home from work which they were throwing out about 5 years ago, it has a VESA stand, was was just a small LCD monitor thou, just kept it in the shed. I have seen a number of broken LCD monitors on the curbside council cleanup up at Cheerybrook last week, I should have checked them for VESA stands.

        • +1

@freemoneyhunter: Good quality CCFL is rated in excess of 50,000 hours. Usually it's inverter that dies first.

        • @freemoneyhunter: How do you check how many hours it has?

        • @BrodenIt: I do not think you can, nothing in the menu system says total on time and sorry to say but a bit naive to think one could know, luck of the barrel. I'm happy with the monitor they sent me, looks like it will last at least until the newer monitors will beam the display directly into your mind.

  • I still use one that was purchased back in 2011. Still going strong, no issues yet. Sad that these are so cheap now

  • Anyone recieved theres then? Just waiting to see reactions before I commit!

    • +1

Mine is coming tomorrow, I can't put up with my old monitor for much longer, http://i.imgur.com/ecZgRDo.jpg

      • Haha that's pretty bad. I'm using an Asus 22inch tn from 2009 and it still works great which is why I'm torn on an upgrade :(

        • If my monitor wasn't damaged, I wouldn't have been thinking of upgrading. you on the other hand, still using a 22inch, once you get the new monitor assuming it works out well, you won't want to go back. I have a number of smaller monitors I could have used stored but they are the older 1280x1024 LCD square ones and I don't want to go back to them. That other deal I was talking about, $159 for 28inch I really did want that but I do believe this deal will be better overall. I have a half decent video card, GTX960 so it can make use of the extra resolution in some cases.

        • @freemoneyhunter: Yeh I've got the 960 too so hoping it'll work well with that res.

Ive also got a Dell P2217H reserved for 150 through Dell outlet and I have to make a decision tomorrow!! Brand new 22inch ips or this older 27inch model.. Any advice??

        • @bloobat:

Dell P2217H 21.5" Full HD IPS LED Monitor

You serious? It's only 1080P, that is a scraping barrel monitor, get the 1440P 27inch for $25 more. Good for the environment too to reuse pc ware.

        • @freemoneyhunter: Yes but the 27 comes without a stand and is much older plus no warranty is offered that's what worries me :(
I've also read the CCFL backlight means it generates alot of heat

    • My 2 screens arrived last Friday. One is great, however the other had a screw snapped into the VESA mount.

I contacted the seller who promptly called back, and I have shipped the faulty one back and am waiting for its replacement.

Looks like I will be able to claim the return postage cost back from PayPal also, so I highly recommend paying by PayPal for this transaction unless you can pickup in store!

      • I've picked mine up and have yet to try the screws but have to say the screen does appear to have a 'haze' on it especially when browsing white Web pages and trying to read.

Are you guys screens crystal clear or do you have the same thing?

        • Moving from DVI to DisplayPort made a bit of a difference but agree I wouldnt say the screen is crystal clear and does have a slight yellow tinge but I have not tried to calibrate it at all yet until my other screen arrives.

Also noticed both screens had been wiped with a cloth, havent got around to giving it a proper clean which will hopefully also help.

        • @pranksta: ah Yeh I use HDMI, I'm leaning towards a return seeing as hdmi doesn't even support the QHD sadly. I don't want to really as the guys were really helpful and offered great service but can't see myself working long hours on it with the sparcle effect unfortunately

        • @bloobat:

Read on the internet you can edit the EDID file to support QHD over HDMI, or get a Displayport to HDMI cord as well….so you may have a couple options to explore.

        • @pranksta: Yeh I tried the edid and it did display but looked way over sharpened idk just not right at all. I'll deffo explore the cord tho!

    • Any comments about the monitor then? :)

      • Very curious to hear what people think of their monitors they received?

        • +1

It all looks fine to me, I can't see the higher resolution yet because I do not have the correct cable so everything is still displayed in 1080p. The contents of the box was the monitor, a power cable and a VGA cable…..

        • @freemoneyhunter: thats good, how's the screen itself any marks at all or signs of use? And how is the anti glare coating alot of people online seem to say it makes the screen 'sparcle'

          Thanks

  • There are some scratches on the back of the monitor near the VESA mount, one of the screws would not go all the way into one of the screw holes for the VESA stand. I can't see any problems with the coating. The screen looks fine no marks.

    • Soo, worth the price? I'll be using it at 1080p most probably, and how's the heat?

      • Yeah I'm happy with it, I think it is pretty good, just need the right cable now to get UHD.

  • will a stand from a u2715h work with this u2711b?

    • VESA stands fit it, looks like the seller jacked the price $10.

  • +1

I put this deal as expired because the monitors have been jacked up in price. My monitor is really good, very happy with it, anyone else who received their's find it a good deal?

  • Has anyone returned their monitors yet?

    • Yes, as above returned one of my 2 for replacement, arrived with screw snapped off in the VESA mount. Waiting for replacement to arrive.

      • One of my VESA screws would not screw in, I did not worry as 3 screws work fine.

        • It was the top one, and I couldn't even get the thread to grab on the hole so prefer to send it back and get another. If it was a bottom one I probably would have let it go..

        • @pranksta: Mine was the bottom left. I'd buy that for $100 if the company would sell it cheaper because it is known defective.

        • @freemoneyhunter:
Yeah same of they offered some sort of discount I would have been happy and had a crack at getting it out

  • My screen has been working perfectly, very happy with it :)

All 210 of them have been sold.
