I tested more than a dozen car phone mounts over the years and settled 2 years ago on the Kenu Air Vent, purchased through the Apple Store. It retailed for $35 - expensive but very solid and reliable. Unfortunately, I lost mine but found a similar looking one on eBay for 1/10th of the price (the grey one looks better than the green one pictured). It works exactly the same and feels as solid as the Kenu one! Perfect fit for both iPhone SE and iPhone 7 (any smartphone for that matter).

Delivery is from China and took less than 2 weeks to Sydney. Comes in nice packaging so makes a great gift as well.

Edit: There are apparently other cheaper sellers that still have stock (thanks Chickenleg), I can't vouch for their quality though (it's always a bit hit and miss with overseas sellers, especially with low priced items).

      Like the Kenu, the Rock one looks to be of better quality materials compared to the plastic Kmart version. It needs to be 'rubbery' with a good spring to keep your phone safe.

    I am using this cdslotmount and it is so good and a lot better than those found on cd slot mount found on eBay. It can mount three devices like GPS.

      I still have that Zapals one.. the rubber on the straight edge manages to come off sometimes. Also, the one I got doesn't sit exactly horizontal/vertical, the clip isn't perfectly aligned.

      Most good holders aren't cheap. Most cheap ones aren't great. This one is very cheap and works very well. At least for me.

    Wouldn't recommend - I have the Kenu Airframe and this one. Bought a few of these and went overseas with one (they're cheap so if I lost it/broke it, it wouldn't matter as much). It broke after two weeks of use with an iPhone 7 Plus. The back part that goes onto the air vent became loose and no longer tightened. Its expansion mechanism is also stiffer than the Kenu mount.

    Got mine a couple of days ago, It's a piece of crap if you own a Plus model iPhone, Has to be removed from the vent to attach the phone, it's finnicky to expand the gripper and when you finally get the bloody thing on, it's way too tight - ruining that nice genuine Apple leather case you just bought. In the bin and to the landfill it goes.

    i bought one from a previous deal, packaging came crushed. The product is pretty solid though, holds the iphone 4 quite well which is pretty heavy as far as phones go.

    Mine also arrived, packagig was intact. Snug fit for my S7 with Spigen case, but it fits which is the main thing. Was worried about how tight the fit would be onto the aircon vent blade, but it was actually pretty good - no fear of breaking anything. Will see how it goes holding the phone when driving on the weekend.

    Mine arrived Monday 18th. For my car it doesn't protrude enough given the angle of the dash, so it's not great for my car, but it works fine.

    Got it after more than a month and tried it today. The thing has metal prongs inside the plastic and scratched my vents. Would never buy again.
