High Possibility Of $318 After DigiDirect Price Match

Unfortunately the bonus $100 EFTPOS gift card promo has ended already. Coupon will take $200 off the price. The trick is to get them to price match DigiDirect's current price of $518 without mentioning the use of the coupon. They should have no problems price matching as DigiDirect have a shop front and I've had success with JB price matching with them before with the FDR-X1000V. Take it to the counter once you've gotten a price match, then whip out the coupon on payment. Can also take advantage of the $100 JB Giftcards with bonus $10 coupon as well as buying those giftcards with a discounted Woolies egiftcard. I don't think you can stack the $10 coupon with this $200 coupon though.

Given the price match, it would be the cheapest since the previous one of $296.27 after stacking with eBay 15% off (which ended really quickly btw) and the pre-adjusted price error of $248.

Yes, it doesn't have an in-built screen (doesn't bother me as I don't really need one for my uses), but the videos this thing captures are bloody fantastic!

Yeah I side-graded my FDR-X1000V to this. Was really happy with the FDR-X1000V but it annoyed me that time lapse/interval photos are only taken in FHD resolution, not the full 8MP of the sensor. The FDR-X3000 has optical image stabilisation too which is better than the FDR-X1000V's electronic version. I bought the FDR-X3000 from HN after getting them to price match DigiDirect at the time having 15% off. It was down to $440.30 which I then paid with a $100 giftcard from a previous HN Amex deal, then got $50 cashback using the last HN Amex deal and finally the $100 EFTPOS gift card I just got in the mail last week. So all in all I spent $190.30 for it. Then I sold my FDR-X1000V and actually made a small profit from my purchase price of $228 back then ^^

Cheapest ever was $250 at jb after cashback from Sony.

Jb now terrible at price matching - in fact i reckon eb games are better. If I had a dollar for every excuse from jb I could stay drunk for a week….

  • My coupon 92399250310

  • How was the recording quality of this model compared to Gopro 4? Feature wise it seems to be better than my gopro4 silver as it doesn't have optical image stabiliser …

    • this is more on par (if not better) than the GoPro Hero 5 Black. So… better than the "GoPro 4"

  • Found it slightly cheaper than DigiDirect, $490 @ OneDigitals

    https://www.onedigitals.com.au/products/sony-fdr-x3000-4k-ac…

    • grey importers with no shop front. if you can somehow manage to make JB overlook that, then by all means go for it!

      • they didn't match OneDigitals or DigiDirect, but they matched Ted's Cameras at $549

  • So what are the chances of them price matching then discounting? Is that allowed or would it be a mistake by the staff member if I managed it?

    • Yes. That is what I am wondering.

      • every store will be different and it's going to vary depending on your own negotiating skill I guess.
the store person I talked to was well aware of matching to other websites and which ones were "grey imports" and not reputable stores or ones with physical storefronts, and therefore wouldn't price to certain websites..
I was able to get them to match to Ted's Cameras ($549) who then took the box to the counter, when I got to the counter I gave the coupon to the cashier who took the $200 off the price match
        YMMV

        • So what was his excuse for not price matching digidirect then?

        • +1

@CVonC: shrug claimed it was a grey import
I'm happy with the price I paid ($349)

        • +1

@reactor: good to know, thanks. Im in Syd and so are a couple of digidirect's stores so hopefully I can get them to price match it

        • @reactor:

shrug claimed it was a grey import

          clueless noob :/

          @CVonC:

I must admit I didn't know there were DigiDirect stores in Sydney (am in Newcastle), otherwise I probably would have pushed it further. But, as I said, I'm happy with what I paid :)

  • This or the Yi 4K+ ?

    • If you can afford it, this. The stabilisation alone should be the reason for it.

    • yeah but the Yi 4K+ has 4K60fps

      • Does it have OIS and stereo mics?

    • I originally wanted the Yi 4K+, but opted for this because I could get local stock for under $350
I don't think you can get the Yi in Australia without importing or paying under $400 AUD - but would happily like to be proven wrong :)

  • When I pay for it at the front, do I just show coupon number than I can get 200 off?

    • yep!

Managed to get mine for 318 today, first jb said they'd price match and then 'couldn't find' any of the 4 they had in stock… Second jb happily price matched and then presented coupon at counter.

    Thanks op!!

I also got it for $318. Showed them the price at Digidirect and the guy price matched without any hassles. Then at the counter I got them to scan the coupon and the guy at the counter was even impressed at the price. I'm going overseas in a month so I get to TRS it. Awesome deal! Thanks op!

      • Awesome! How much you expecting to get back on trs?

        • Divide by 11 ;)

        • is that 9%?

        • @CVonC: haha Yeh I meant will you be able to claim for 650 or 518 or 318?

        • GST listed in the receipt is $28.91 so I'm guessing that's what I'll get back.

        • @bargainjargon:

Yep whatever the GST component is on the invoice.

      • Did you happen to get the Live View Remote as well?

    • Did you happen to get the Live View Remote as well?

      • Nope not with mine I presume that's more expensive

        • I didn't get it either, but I sent an email asking Sony where you can buy them and they replied; "Please be advised that the remote is normally bundled with the FDR-X3000 and is not available as a separate purchase" :/

        • +1

@reactor: mmmn strange, I know when I bought my fdr x1000 it was a separate product code for the one with the remote included and cost about 150 more I think

Edit: Sony site shows x3000 with remote is $899

        • No remote for me either.

        • @bargainjargon: cool, thanks for replying buys :) wasn't sure if I missed out

          @reactor:

Silly of Sony to not sell the RM-LVR3 separately when they sold the previous 2 separately. It's also in a bundle with the HDR-AS50.

Anyway the RM-LVR2 remote that I got for the FDR-X1000V is compatible with this except for a few settings. Got it during the Smith's Dick fire sale too for something like 60 bucks.

The RM-LVR1 is pretty much the same as the LV2 so maybe you can find that cheap on eBay. Its compatibility chart is the same too.

Edit: eBay doesn't offer any of the remotes for cheap unfortunately. But Ryda can order it for $118.85.

        • I tried using my phone as the live view remote and it works well enough. You'll need the Playmemories app which I already have since I have other Sony cameras. I've even made a makeshift grip thingie so I can hold both of them on one hand. I might use a spare older phone that can be the permanent live view remote (my phone is a Pixel which I also use to take pics/videos).

        • @bargainjargon:

          pics of the grip?

I used a suction mount and a ball head. Since it'll only work if the suction mount can suck onto the back of the phone (I have an old HTC One which has a rounded back), I might try a different setup when I get home using a phone clamp.

        • @bargainjargon:

          genius! :)

  • When is expiry date of coupon?

    • Ends Sunday 3rd Sept.

  • +1

VideoPro is also selling it for $529, could be another option for those struggling with price match.

  • Is digidirect gray import? I went to jbhifi today, they said digidirect is gray import. So they can not do price matching. I WILL GO OTHER branch.

    • Load of typical clueless bs to prevent a price match

      Show this to them.

Do digiDIRECT products come with official Australian manufacturers' warranty?
Absolutely; 12 - 24 months (dependent upon manufacturer) back-to-base official Australian warranty. We are among the few on-line suppliers with direct accounts with the Australian distributors of leading digital brands, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax just to name a few!

      • +1

Thanks mate. I will show them if they say it is gray imported.

Thanks everyone for the tips!! I too got it pricematched with Digidirect for $518, scanned the coupon, paid with JB Hifi gift cards exchanged with Ultimate Kids GC @15% discount (including 2*$100 JB Hifi GC with 2 * free $10 vouchers), and JB Hifi gift cards purchased on eBay using the free $30 eBay gave me for selling more than $500 worth of foods, so all up $224 before the GST claim!

      Lovely ozbargaining there! :)

  • Hello everyone, If I don't have the coupon barcode for them to scan, will they still accept the code only ? Thanks.
