  • Damn it! They have all the Sony RX100M varieties either on sale or with a bonus, except the II. Why, just why, JB Hi-Fi? :(

    • nothing personal, they just clearing old stock :)

    • Why are you after the M2 in particular? I have that one and the 3 and 4 are much better due to the lens never dropping below f2.8 throughout the zoom range. I find the zoom almost useless on mine in dark settings due to f stop dropping to 4 or 5 as soon as zoom is great than 2x. Also affects video recording. Don't get me wrong, it is a great camera and I still love it, but you need to be aware of this limitation with the lens design in the M2.

      • For the M2, I was comparing it mainly with the original and M3, and with what I saw on the YouTube reviews I would go for it if I find one on a good deal. With the latest ones (4 and 5), it's just the price. They're new and still very expensive.

        • +1

Yeah M2 is good bang for buck. I got mine a couple of years ago off ebay for around $400, was almost brand new, with box and everything. It has been great and does awesome videos, even in low light.

        • @billy_bob: Yup! It was that around $400 mark that I was hoping to come across. Few times such great deals were posted, but unfortunately I wasn't on OzB each time and missed out.

The thing is, I am just an amateur hobbyist, and tend to lose interest in stuff pretty quickly, so an affordable M2 would be a good camera to have for someone like me. Nothing expensive and fancy that would collect dust most of the time.

        • +1

@AussieDaddy: Trust me, M2 would be perfect for you. It's easy to use for beginners but also lets you dabble with manual/creative modes if you get the urge. I have SLR's but hardly use them anymore because the Sony is so small and easy to carry around…yet takes bloody good photos. BTW, photo/video quality poops on even the very best smartphone cameras, by a long way! Get the rubber grip thingy if you can….makes it much nicer to hold. Good luck :)

        • @billy_bob: Appreciate the 411, mate. Ta :)

  • Good price on th KS8000 55".

    • Agree. I do not need the TV until Feb 2017. Wait or buy now?

      • I got mine 2 months ago for $2,250

      • @peter
Match the price from a place were you can layby the item. so that you can pay by feb and pick up then.

        • Why what happens in February?

        • @Beach Bum: It begins…

  • +2

The LG looks pretty good for "65 w/ 10 bit.

If anyone could advise me on it would be good. Been waiting for a "65 with HDR

    • Same.I am keen to know information on this TV. What would be its closest equivalent to compare it to ? Also I do not need the TV until Feb 2017 wait or buy now?

    • Terrible. Don't get it. I bought it and returned it, badly suffers from DSE.

      • Sorry mate I only know DSE as Dick Smith Electronics?

What did you end up settling on in the end?

        • Dirty screen effect. Settled on Samsung series 8, much better TV.

        • @nubzy:

Looking at the stats it shouldn't do though? I can only afford a 55" series 8 :(

        • @nubzy:

Ok cool; I want a 65" TV and budget is about $2500ish. Am I better off waiting for the 8 series Samsung or Sony 850D to brop (hopefully)?

        • @Morty: Same

        • +1

This ticks all the boxes, I didnt want to spend over 2500 with warranty etc..

Maybe I should have grabbed that Sony Deal 65"?

Some people like the set though…

'I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure' <—— ARGH lol

        • @Morty: its bad mate. If you watch sports or play racing games, documentaries with panning Sky etc you will notice it. Up to you. Try it out in store, but I'd suggest taking a USB with the DSE test from YouTube on it.

        • @peter1980d: in JB's last one day sale they did the 65" KS8000 for $3196. I'd ask them to get close to that price or otherwise wait for the next sale.

The 55" is at an excellent price for today though.

        • @peter1980d: I can't speak to nubzys experience but I can tell you that my 65UH770T has been excellent. Incredible tv for the price. Sure there are better TVs out there, but they also cost at least $1000 more. WebOS3 is also the best TV OS by far.

        • @Morty: very keen to know what you decide :) !!

        • @dwhes:

          Thanks!

        • @nubzy: Thanks. I do not need the TV until Feb 2017. Hold off or buy?

        • @peter1980d: If you were willing to settle for the 55" then i'd probably buy. Otherwise hold off and in the boxing day sales there should be a good price on the 65", not sure it will quite get down to 2.5k though.

        • @peter1980d:

I just finished my night shift and cant drive 50 mins to the nearest store with stock, but he has it on hold. HN pricematched it but the extended warranty was nearly twice of what JB were asking..

So Ill pick it up tomorrow :)

        • @Morty: COngrats!

        • @nubzy: I need two TVs. A 55" and a 65".

        • @peter1980d:

I was researching all night and I think I'll probably lash out and get a series 8 Samsung… just waiting for jb to open

        • @Morty:

I read on whirlpool forums someone for the Samsung instore with a $200 voucher! Not verified though,

        • @peter1980d: I got the $200 Voucher! :) got the S850 65" for $3147 (with same day delivery and extended warranty for 5 years total. Very happy I paid a bit more for it. rtings sold me in the end :)

        • @Morty:
          Nice one!!!!!

Did you get the voucher via the whole BluRay player deal? Or $200 voucher for buying the TV itself? So was it $3147 - $200 voucher = so you really out of pocket $2947 ?

        • @Morty: replacement warranty from hn
Don't believe it, they gave me in-store credit for the cheapest price they could find to supply replacement, not hn store replacement price. Refurb price.

        • @peter1980d:

Yeah happy with extended warranty and delivery for under 3k :)

Its a really nice viewing experience very happy with the purchase

    Good deal on the M3 & EM10

    • -1

Rx100 M3 for under $500 with 5% coupon and TRS is unheard of even for grey stock.

      • Hi mate how do u get rx100 under 500? It's $704? Thanks

Edit: oh u put in trs as well :) nvm

        • +10

Why do people always include TRS? Of course it will be cheaper with TRS, everything claimed with it will be, it's not specific to this particular item. That, and nobody is going to buy a plane ticket just to get it for the deal.

        • -1

          @Orpheus:

          boasting?

        • @Orpheus:

TRS effect is different with deals like this with a high cashback amount.

Eg, Canon M10 + 22mm lense comes to $535 before $300 cashback.. netting a $49 TRS. If the deal was $235 without cashback, you would only get $21 TRS. Makes a noticable difference.

        • @Orpheus:
Its a travel camera which I'm buying as I'm going overseas… shrugs

      • How do you get under $500?

$704.65. $669.42 after 5% coupon. $608.56 after TRS. And with eftpos card becomes $508.56.

    • M10 is really good deal. Have one already and love it

      • -1

For point and shoot, is it better than the camera in a smart phone (iPhone 6S Plus)?

        • miles ahead….

        • Definitely better.

It's basically a point and shoot with different settings but you can manually adjust the usual settings iso, AP and shooting speed.

Only downside is that its only touchscreen and no viewfinder which is weird for me compared to my d3300.

But it definitely takes great shots.

        • +3

People really need to stop using the iphone as being the benchmark for Phone photography. Its simply disgusting how bad and limited the inbuilt camera app is and that they are probably 3 years in the rears of other companies.

      • I have RX100 M3 for a year now for point & shoot, but interesting about M10,
does it good to have one, to play around for SLR functions, $161 price is so tempting,

    • EOS M3? - Can't find that and keen to upgrade my Gen 1 EOS M.

EDIT: M3 meaning the Sony and not the Canon EOS M3 assuming.

Does Harvey Norman stock the m10 kit? (cant find it on their site!) Wanting to price match and combine with Amex deal!

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273327

    • I’m not sure why this was downvoted as I think it’s a valid question. I called HN Melbourne and the sales rep actually brought up the AMEX cashback offer without me even mentioning it. He said that they would consider the 100$ cashback in what they offer for price match, if I pay with AMEX. It wasn’t a clear “we’ll be 100$ higher” and it seemed to be a case by case assessment. In a normal case I’d argue that they shouldn’t count the cashback, and in fact I don’t see how they can know whether your card is registered for the offer or not. But here, since you can’t buy from JB Hifi at that price anymore, HN don’t need to price match anyway.

  • hmmm.. JB doesnt have the EFM 18-150mm lens in their inventory (want it for travel lens).. Otherwise Double cashback on that lens would be awesome deal with this would be awesome.

    • +1

I really want the EFM 11-22, but yeah, none of those either…

  • +1

Also those who got JB gift cards from coles offer will save another 10%.TRS claim will make it very attractive as you can claim on invoice value.

    • Hey, if i was to claim it on TRS ( travelling next month) does the package have to remain closed and unused?
Or can i use it for the time being as long i have the receipt?

      • +1

No you can use it unless consumables.
You don't even need the package.but they will check it out

        • Thanks !

        • Do you mean they will check the package? Any Max limit?

        • @ozlab:

Past experiences ,I always claim TRS without any packaging , and they only need to see the actual item itself.

        • @demoiree:

I had a grumpy trs lady forced to see the packaging. I said it's too bulky for hand luggage. She let it go but with lots of attitude.

      • Also make sure if the invoice is for over $1000, to have your name and address on it. Missed out last time when I got my camera.

        • you need (at least) the name on the invoice, address is not mandatory for invoice over $1000 to claim the TRS

        • @bctransit: I got my address in there for good measure. Leaving to Japan in two weeks and claiming TRS for a watch I bought . Not going to make the same mistake again.

  • Dang it! Bought my parents one of those Nikon 1 J5 the other day from officeworks for xmas :(

  • +8

BTW.. since Canon has the double cashback offer with another $150 cashback, you can grab the 22mm Fixed lens:
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/Lenses/canon/canon-efm-22m…

$98 after cashback with the purchase of the EOS M10

    • How about the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens? Is that any good

      • 199 at jb, min 200, so no

      • You'll need a converter to get the standard EF (Canon SLR mount) into the EF-M on the M10 and M3. Too bad they dont sell the converter at JB's either. But looks like its about $130 or so outside at other shops.

    • Would that have an extra 10% off when purchased with the camera? Looks like it might, which would make it around $75.

      • Yeah.. I forgot about that when I was writing. you get an extra 10% off too. I bought a M10+22mm Fixed Lens for my dad's Xmas pressie. He'll be traveling in Jan, so he can get another 10% back from the GST bringing down a "twin lens" package of the M10 to around $200 or so. That is an absolute bargain..

Tempted to get the M3 for myself though as those nightshots are gorgeous.

        • What lens is ideal for night shots?

        • @TightAssDrake: That's a length of a string question. Depends on what sort of night shots (eg. Panoramic, Macro/portrait etc). Best to get fixed lens for quicker focus and snap so the 22mm fixed would help in this scenario.

        • +2

          @TightAssDrake: a tripod

        • Can someone please clarify, do I need an adaptor for the M10 if I buy the 22mm lenses for it?

        • @mlburnian: LOL. that too. Definitely or find a place to lodge it.

        • +1

@mr fox: no. You don't need an adapter for the epm 22mm.

        • I already purchased the M3 to pick up this morning.
Reckon if i went in store and tell them i would like to purchase the EFM-22m lens to get the extra $150 cash back, they will allow it?
meaning they will have to do re-do the invoice

        • @TightAssDrake: Stock was pretty low on the 22mm online this morning (at least in Sydney). I could only pick up from 3 stores. Waiting for the confirmation email and I'll go and pick up my E-M10/22mm combo.

    • -1

Not many stores showing stock of that lens. If you order online you run the risk of two items coming from 2 different stores on 2 different invoices, therefore missing out on the double cashback.

      • +1

True. That's why I ordered both to pick up from the same store. If they don't, get then to do a stock transfer from one store to another to get the deal.

      • +1

Not sure what you're talking about… you get the tax invoice online in your accounts which shows everything in the order together.

      • Just ordered the Canon M10 with the 22mm lens online, I paid for it all at once so I don't imagine why they would provide two separate invoices. Can someone else confirm? Too late now anyway but worst case I still get a great deal on the base camera kit.

With the 10% off extra lens, 5% off coupon and Canon double cash back deal this whole purchase should come to around $250 in the end which is insane for what it is!

    • Umming and Aring about whether to pick up the M3 for myself.. arrrghhh.. Need to be good.. need to be good..

  • Hmm wonder if I should pull the trigger on the 750d

  • what do you think about canon eos m3?
also when does this deal expire?

    • Works out to be $250ish after TRS claim which is pretty Dam good otherwise Get the Olympus em10 if you can afford it

  • +2

Hoping they would sale Canon G7X Mark 2.

  • Wow crazy good deal on the Olympus E-M10. Get onto that if you want a mirrorless camera!

    • how does it compare to canon m3?

      • +2

Way better but double the price. So go figure

        • Way better? But the Olympus has an inferior sensor.

        • @atlas:

Not sure why you were downvoted. Olympus m4/3 has a smaller sensor than the M3 and as a result is a bit more noisy.

In most other respects the Olympus is better though
