        • Yep that's the best price I've ever seen for the M10 MkII - I want it ever so badly!

        • @jackary: I bought mine two months ago and take it with me everywhere. Other than being a great camera it looks bloody good!

        • @Ryanek: I'm going backpacking for 3 months next year and have been researching cameras for months - was pretty convinced on an M10, maybe a Lumix G purely because it's pretty easy to buy a fisheye lens for either. Way to throw a spanner in the works!

Other things that came to mind… RX100 (too expensive) - Sony alpha maybe?

But some of the prices on those Canons… I really didn't want to go full dSLR… but for the money?!?

        • @jackary: A large part of my decision was the form factor, that's why I can take it with me everywhere. If you're traveling do you really want to lug around a full DSLR? :)

And yes you're right when you choose a brand you're committing to the lenses. I purchased this grey import during the 15% ebay sales http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321888325566?_trksid=p2057872.m27… and it hasn't skipped a beat. This 25mm 1.8 great for street photography and portraits and find it's on my camera more than any other lens.

        • @Ryanek: Thanks for all the tips! Yup, you're definitely right with the lenses!

Ideally I'd like a full sized sensor and an 8mm fisheye but it seems I'm asking the impossible in a smaller form factor. So far I've come across

EM10 MkII + Fisheye body cap
          EOS M (or any Canon/Nikon dslr) + Samyang/Rokinon 8mm lens
Sony Alpha + VCL-ECF1 or 2 fisheye convertor

          Any other ideas?

        • @jackary: Out of interest why do you want a fisheye lens for backpacking?

        • @Goonos: Why not?

        • Those automated comparison web sites are worthless! The specs come in different formats and things don't appear or appear differently. If the money's not something you can afford to just throw around, find good reviews of each camera and work out for yourself. The comparison web site can then be used with a bit of intelligence.

        • @jackary: Well its a very niche lens for a very specific look. If you have other lenses to take then all good but a fisheye would be the last lens I would take if I could only take one.

        • @Goonos: Oh it wouldn't be the only lens I'd be taking! Just want to be able to do those super wide, dramatic fisheye landscapes every now and again :)

        • @jackary: honestly, get a superwide rectilinear projection lens. Fisheyes are good for some things, but rectilinears are more useful in more situations.

        • @macrocephalic: Thanks for the advice but I've made my choice. The fisheye is to be used as you suggest, as a complementary lens.

        • @syousef: I completely disagree, did you even look at the link? It is in fact very useful when comparing technical specs. It is not making the decision for you, it is providing information to help people with their research.

        • -1

          @Ryanek:

sigh Yes I did look at your link.

Let's take an example I know well:

          http://cameradecision.com/compare/Nikon-D5600-vs-Canon-EOS-7…

          • The Nikon D5600 is the first camera to take out the infra-red sensor that works with the wireless remote that's been selling for well over a decade (ML-L3). No where in the comparison above do you see this information. Two seconds looking at real reviews or people discussing the camera on a forum and you'd see this.
          • Rubbish description of differences in focusing modes other than number of points and whether it has face detection.
          • There is a cross for each camera for "AF-Area" which is a specific Nikon term for one of the focus modes which the D5600 does indeed have.
          • "Partial" is a "Photography Features". What the hell does that mean? I think it refers to a Canon specific metering mode. Anyway Canon gets a tick, Nikon doesn't and it doesn't help me at all.
          • Nothing about how fast or well it focuses for sports or what configurability you have.
          • Nothing that tells you the Canon is superior for video and that you can change aperture on the Canon in live view but not on the Nikon.
          • Where does it tell me that this model Nikon won't autofocus F mount lenses that don't have a motor in the body of the lens? All it tells me is F mount and gives me a count of F mount lenses (which I bet include ones that can't be autofocused).

That's what I found in 5 mins (and another 5 to write it up). I won't waste more time.

If you want to shoot with a remote timer (selfies/family selfies, astrophotography) or need to track a moving subject (sports, wildlife) you have no idea which camera is going to suit you better.

As far as I'm concerned this comparison is JUNK. If you want to rely on it for your purchase, that's your choice.

        • +1

@syousef: You're totally missing the point of a comparison website. It compares! It outputs the best comparison it can with the information that it has. It doesn't aim to display every possible feature of each camera. The fact that you're pointing out missing information is moot.

Can you honestly tell me that having those two cameras side by side gives you absolutely NO valuable information? The fact that it tell me the announcement date on the one page is worth every cent. Oh yeah that's right… the page is FREE.

        • -1

          @Ryanek:

At best it's a shortcut if I do want to compare a particular aspect of two cameras, but because it is automated and inaccurate, I'd have to go check if the information is correct anyway.

So yes I can honestly say this is misleading and less than worthless. And no I'm not missing the point. I'm making the point that this lazy comparison is counterproductive to someone deciding which camera to buy because a 2MP difference is unlikely to be noticed, but not being able to use an IR remote or shoot sports will.

    • How's it compare to my Nikon 1 S1 with the extra lens?

    • Who would ever think it would go that bloody low. Most camera shops selling for $899 and with a deal it only ever came to $799 at most places. Just crazy. I bought mine two weeks ago for $829 with an $100 store credit included and thought I got a g eat deal, now this..

It is a great camera though but I sure would have liked the extra $$$ to buy another's lens with..

  • Someone got a spare coupon? Thanks

    • PM me if you still need one

  • +3

Oh god. Must. Resist. MUST. RESIST.

  • Thanks OP,grabbed the M10

  • thx OP, grabbed a M10 for $295 (with the 5% coupon), assuming it will be sold out soon? :)

    • but you will get 150 dollar cashback as well, right?

      • +1

sure… so should be $145 at the end

  • +2

Great price on the M10 - bought one a few months back from the Teds deal!

    • +1

      hows the image quality?

      • I've been happy with the results for the price. If your budget stretches to the M3, go for that purely cause of the hot shoe and external mic input if you need but the M10 ticks enough of my boxes.

  • +3

Pretty good price for the Sony a6000 mirrorless body ($594 + $150 EFTPOS card). I still have the kit lens that I bought it with last and haven't used it since purchasing several prime lenses. Although I'd probably be leaning towards OM-D E-M10 MKII if I were buying now.

For quick reference on the newer a6X00 models (body only), the a6300 (≈$1,250) has 4k recording and the a6500 (≈$2,000) has 4k + in-built stabilisation.

    • Curious why you'd "probably be leaning towards OM-D E-M10 MKII if I were buying now". As far as I can tell, the A6000 bests the M10 in all the reviews I've seen them compete.

      • I'm also curious as to why you'd rate the OM-D E-M10 over the A6000? The only thing I can think of is the price and variety of lenses available.

        • +1

^Those are the two main reasons.

I'm quite happy with what I have now though!

        • Smaller body and 5-axis stablization maybe?

        • @Sambino: I'm looking to get the a6000 and am new to all this lens stuff. Can it not use other lenses as long as you had an adapter for it?

        • @GrabOzB: It can, but I haven't gotten as far as researching the various adapters other than the recent Sigma MC-11 adapter, which converts Sigma's Canon EF-mount lenses to the Sony E mount. This could be good if you are coming from Canon DSLRs to mirrorless for the compactness and already own the lens.

        • @GrabOzB: Adapted lens never work as good as E mounts.
It's up to you ultimately, but I'll go for E-M10 MK II

        • @poporange630:

5-axis is indeed handy for video and useful for non moving subjects but the A6000 is actually a little smaller.

        • I would have bought the A6000 over the EM-10 if I was looking now (I have the EM-10, the Sony was far too expensive at the time), however, the price and variety of lenses for the EM-10 is indeed a good point here.

    • +1

+1 I'd take the Olympus too. Sony lenses too expensive, and there's a wider variety for Olympus. Also love the 5 axis IBIS and design.

      • One thing to note is that I find comparable lenses between m43 and Sony e-mount are about the same cost. For example the Sony 10-18 F4 is about $1000. Panasonic have the 7-14 F4 for $1000. Then to make up for the 1 stop light loss due to the smaller sensor on m43 you would need the Panasonic 7-14 f2.8 for $1500.

Another example would be the Sony 50mm 1.8 is $400. For M43 you have the Pansonic 25mm 1.7 for $299 or the f1.4 for $800

  • Does anyone have a spare coupon? Please pm me one, thanks in advance.

  • If anyone still happens to have a spare coupon code, I would be forever in their debt! ;) Many ty's! Going to let the availability of a 5% coupon determine my decision haha

    • PM me if you want one

      • +1

Sorry to others. I am out of coupons now.

  • I need a coupon code if anyone still have one unused. Thanks in advance, beautiful peeps

  • +1

Ops, for Sony Alpha A7 ILCE-7 you actually get $150 EFTPOS gift card instead of $100.

  • Canon EOS M10 sold out!!!!

    • no its not

  • +1

That is just an outrageous deal on the E-M10. Seriously unbeliveable!! And I already claimed price guarantee at Good Guys with their $799 price..

    • i only got my em10 kit last week during the ebay 20% off. someone posted a deal here. i paid using a visa through paypal. is it possible to claim price guarantee?

      • +1

Unfortunately not. Good Guys has price guarantee but you can't do it on regular purchases unless you have one of those credit cards which offers it. You probably paid $719 on the eBay deal which is pretty good. But I feel your pain mate..

I paid $829 for mine but got back a $36 and $100 Good Guys store credit for the deal. Would have rathered a $200+ back in cash but who can predict ridiculous deals like this, you wouldn't even get it for this price in grey market.

        • What do you mean can't do it on regular purchases?

        • @kulprit: Purchases on eBay/online or other shops without guarantees etc.

        • @nubzy: Pretty sure if I bought online from Good Guys ebay their price promise would still apply? Gonna try my credit card one anyway, but it says I need a printed catalogue.

    • That's because it was a pricing error. Just after I had got mine in the store (I just got home), they got a call from HQ to pull the stock off the shelves due to pricing error. :)

  • just ordered half hour ago, available for pickup already!

  • Thanks,I have been looking for a upgrade from my nikon j1 and the m10 ticks all the boxes

  • -1

70D pricing is very good. so tempting…

    • +1

      So why negged?

      • Probably on his cell phone.

  • bought JB Hifi Voucher 7.5% Off
Value $650.00 You save $48.75 YOU PAY $601.25
then paid 9.80 for the M3 plus 22mm, $300 cashback
I'm NOT complaining, only need someone to take it for TRS and bring them back to me…

    • how do you get 7.5% off

  • Crap! I bought the Canon 700D for $900 last week ($825 after cashback) from JB. Do I have any options in getting the lower price?

    • if you bought it with a credit card, I assume you could go through price guarantee on the card (unless your card doesn't have it?)

      • I paid cash :(

  • delete

  • What $200 Canon product to buy to get double cashback on the M10? This deal should be free M10 with $200 Canon product purchase!

  • +3

My 2 orders are ready for collection now. Great work JB.

    • damn.. still waiting for my confirmation

    • What did you get man?

      • Olympus and M10 thanks to you.

  • +1

Anyone have a spare voucher they can shoot me? eos M3 seems like an amazing deal :D

    • +1

      SOLD OUT

  • Does JBHifi sell the Sony a7rII?

  • I paid $850 for a used 70D (includes 2 lens), but this does sound like a sweet deal!

  • Wonder if you can get the other shops to price match? :)

  • Looks like their site just crashed!! :)

EDIT: Nope, looks like I got blocked while my order page was "looping" trying to refresh.

  • Hey guys, should I get Canon EOS 700D now or wait for boxing day? I will need it sooner or later for class in January

    • The first rule of a bargain - never stall on a bargain.

  • Man their prices are crazy, wish my overseas trip was this month instead of last month. Could have gotten a M10 for around $380 after factoring all the cashbacks

  • 75" UHD HDR 200hz RB for $3k would be nice..

  • I think the X3000 is a pricing error. I was in the process of getting one but couldn't complete the order and now I can't add it to my cart. I thought the price was too good to be true. If someone else can get it to work then good for you.

Or maybe its a website issue and not necessarily the specific item. Will try again later.

    • +1

crap. had in cart earlier but went for breakfast, come back and goners. wat a fool

      • Yeah I hesitated a little. Should've just bought right away and asked questions later. (OzB mantra)

        • Same. I have the AS200V model. I was debating if I really needed 4k. Oh well.

    • $300 least than rrp definitely is not right for a camera released just over 3 months. I bought online for a store pick-up but doubt they will honour it. Fingers crossed.

      • +1

Happy to report a successful purchase.. Thanks Trent86

    • +1

      Purchased fdr x3000 for 348 - 5% @castle hill store. Not a price error

  • +1

Just bought Sony rx100 mk3 for $535 with 5% off, plus 5% gift cards, Inc the $100 eftpos cashback. Winning!

  • Olympus OM-D E-M10 MKII Compact System Camera with 14-42mm EZ Lens Out of Stock!

  • i cant add it to cart. i tried chrome, opera and safari on both my smartphone and laptop. a dark pop-up appears with only X sign on the right corner

  • When I click Add to Cart, nothing happens. Anyone else getting this? I've tried 2 different browsers. I can't add to cart!

    • same here…

      • I've got a feeling we've missed the boat…

    • sold out
      tried the same

  • If buy the M10 and the M3, will I get the double cashback on both cameras? As far as I can see, I would.

    • +1

Yeah, but you can just submit them both separately and it'll be the same thing.
